You must compare comparable objects. You cannot compare apples and turkey. You must compare apples and oranges. The Bible is a book to be said to be The Book. The Book of True Morality…A Lego manual is meant to help people build toys. How many people has the Bible caused to die? How many a Lego manual?
You are playing the cards as if a “book of truth” and a toy manual are on equal levels of scrutiny. If Lego made a mistake, then it doesn’t really matter - yeah, it sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. But if a book is full of claims, then those claims must be true. When someone writes a book on claims, we expect them to be true. We’ll probably be forgiving if one of the claims turns out to be false, but if there are many, we should rightfully be angry. So what makes the Bible any less worthy of that criticism?
I should have referenced what I used to read daily, tech manuals on aircraft engines. If one does not follow those instructions explicitly, people can, and sometime do die.
Such manuals are written very precisely and easy to understand to the properly trained person. If I picked up a tech manual I had used forty years ago, it would still be valid, and the instructions still understandable.
This “bible” is supposed to be instructions from a god. And from a theistic perspective, they are the most important instructions for anyone. They are all supposed to be at least “divinely inspired”. Yet the god who wrote or guided those instructions seems to have missed proof-reading it’s own work.
It is like Mary Shelley sending a book off to be published, only to discover it came out as a MAD comic book.
Put this on x2 speed, you can clearly see this girl’s leg grow back and it is a miracle that you are requesting to see. There are indeed MANY of these ALL the time. If you would but look you would find. I know you will deny it but it doesn’t change what is clearly shown here. And that’s why Jesus would rather save by faith than by sight! Amen
This is completely a lie. I told you to watch the video I sent you on x2 speed, it looks nothing like this crack job video you are showing here. The girls leg extends a whole 2 inches at least! This guys foot barely pretends to move a milliliter! This is completely different!
@GodisReal I have been aware of this scam for years. When I started to view the video, I said to myself “how could this dude fall for one of the biggest known scams around?”
And the video I posted referenced and used statements from established christian authority figures. They desire to preach and convert, but they are smart enough to distance themselves from this scam.
One scam was done by a street performer, he had to work with what he had. The other was a staged affair, where the chair, child, and conditions were set up to make this scam more dramatic. If the chair had been transparent or there was any view where one could witness whether the pelvis moved, I would be more accepting.
No. My life did not change watching that video. Because of what I know of computer graphics and the less than honest activities of religious money grubbing charlatans in the world, I can’t think of any video that could convince me I had just witnessed a suspension of the laws of nature.
I am pretty sure I was watching a little girl sitting in a chair in a most unnatural position with her arms in just the place to prevent being pulled off it. I can’t say I am sure she didn’t just shift her pelvis because I am certain I did not actually see her leg ‘grow’ as much as I saw her left knee move to the same level as her right.
Ive seen similar tricks done in India where there has been widespread complaints made against shysters conning money and resources from simple village folk doing the same things as apparently happen in Brazil.
Let’s face it GIR, if I thought I had witnessed a true miracle I should have felt it in my bones, experienced some sense of inexplicable exaltation, some heartfelt spirtual earthquake. I get such heartwarming spine tingling sensations watching storms at sea from my headland or watching spiders weave their webs. Instead I just felt sorry for the little girl who kept looking around anxiously, even troubled, as if she knew she was unwillingly taking part in what she knew to be a sham performance. She even failed to be excited with her new equal length legs, and stares glumly at the camera instead. Such an outcome, no more limping, no more discomfort, no more taunting, no more exclusion from games and company should have seen her crying with joy…but her face is not clearly shown and she dutifully jumps only when requested.
As far as I am concerned it was poor church theatre, not a genuine come-to-god experience and I think if there were any omnipotent creator deity it could forgive me for thinking that way.
Now, about those empty cancer wards, videos of abandoned derelict hospitals won’t count.
ps…it would be impossible not to see if it were exactly what you wanted to see. If it were a true suspension of natural law type miracle there could be no way I could deny it, but as I said it was just poor church theatre.
@GodisReal If this was a genuine medical miracle, then there would be pre and post X-rays. If those could be provided, then I would seriously consider your assertion.
If that child did have such an extreme difference in the lengths of her femur, it would be acute and thus she would have had some form of medical treatment, including X-rays.
Such results would have also been on the front page of every medical and scientific journal.
It’s a video, not conclusive evidence because such things are too easy to fake.
Our latest little chew toy needs to learn about scientific method. Let’s see the miracles under controlled laboratory conditions, the findings then published and peer reviewed…
Don’t know about the rest of you, but I just live to be patronised by simplistic, presuppositional apologists who are too ignorant or stupid to accept that the earth is over **four billion years old. **
The poor little petal seems to be one of the most risible of Christian believers, the literalist. He has shown himself to be anti science and impervious to reasoned discourse, logic or facts. It’s like trying to converse with an orangutan.
Stupidity is a condition about which nothing can be done. Willful ignorance is far worse because it can be changed. To date I cannot remember one apologists we’ve had here who conceded that it was possible that he/she could be mistaken in his/her unfounded, dogmatic beliefs.
Rant over. Bored now. I have nothing further to say to “God is real”
