Oh yes, false prophets. Plenty of those. And I have a lot of trouble figuring out which is a true follower of his will and the correct interpretation of the commandments.
As per the “Thou shalt not kill” commandment: I just remembered that the original term might have been closer to “murder,” in which stipulations are there. In that case, I’ll admit to wasting my keystrokes in that sentence.
Ah, but God only did what was necessary to purge the world of the terrible wickedness that was mankind. As man had turned away from God he was no longer worthy of life and so man was responsible for his own death…sort of a complicated suicide…see?
Wow… As usual, you all are making this waaaay more complicated than it is. This shit ain’t rocket surgery. Fact is, we ALL follow god’s will and do his great work for him. Does not matter if you are a True Christian, a False Prophet, a Pagan, a Muslim, a Catholic, Buddhist, Morman, JW, Satanist, Scientologist, Atheist, or any other “ist” developed by god’s human pets. It simply… does… not… matter. “Why,” you may ask? Because, whether we like it or not, every single one of us tiny little humans are part of god’s Perfect/Divine Plan. God made his Plan eons before our universe ever even existed. (You know, before there was any space or time.) And god’s Perfect Plan cannot be changed. He knows EVERY DETAIL about you, me, and every human that has ever existed or that will exist. He PLANNED every single thing about you PERFECTLY in accordance to his Plan. Every thought. Every action. Every word spoken. Every emotion that will ever be felt. God knew these things about us long before we were even born. See?
Therefore, all this bickering and stressing about who are True Christians and False Prophets and why people do the horrible things they do is really just a waste of time. (Even though god Planned for all of us to have these discussions.) Basically, all you have to know is that everything you or anybody else might do or say is part of god’s Plan. It really is just that simple. Personally, I take great comfort in knowing god created me as a perfect atheist. And it just dawned on me this very moment, I understand now why god allowed me to spend all those years of my life confused and anxious about him and the inconsistent contradicting teachings from his bible. Had I not experienced all that apprehension, indecision, and mental uncertainty, I would not fully appreciate the wonderful peace of mind I now have in regards to my lack of belief in him and other religions. How amazing is THAT?
Well, pretty amazing! I hope you can remember this all when “the plan” has me helping myself to all of your food, money, car, etc…I am innocent and just a part of the plan…
I can’t thank you enough (well I could but it would just be a demonstration of sycophancy) for alleviating me of the guilt I have been harboring for things I had no choice but to do.
I will no longer be bound by contemplations of morality or ethics, but rather operate as the automaton that I am. ( as are you)

Edit to consider “plan B”
FINALLY! Somebody else gets it! Congratulations on being able to see the beauty of it all, Skrit. Now you have the wonderful benefit of experiencing TRUE FREEDOM in knowing you have no control over the things you think, feel, say, or do. It’s all been mapped out for you eons ago, in EXACTING DETAIL. Right down to how many times you will fart during your life. Quite liberating, don’t you think?
Yea yea yea, I get the justification for killing all the men, women, and babies. The world would be a better place without them. But what about the poor little murdered monkeys?
But it’s god’s time to waste. Nothing happens without his approval. Even your comments are a part of his plan. As part of his plan, nothing is wasted. Perhaps you are here to learn that.
Yes. Sometimes murder is justified and so we can ignore the 10 commandments and most of what Jesus said. After all Jesus only murdered out of love. In the gospel of Luke, Jesus says, “But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.”
And I HAVE learned that. It’s what I’ve been saying all along. That is why god’s plan is so perfect, because he already factored in all the wasted time. Get the banana mush out of your ears already.
Look, getting back on topic for a moment, let’s use the 10 Suggestio-… uh, 10 Commandments, for instance. Many of us here would say those were a much-wasted opportunity by god. Of all the things he could have commanded, he picked THOSE ten? C’mon! Really? And just imagine how much time has been wasted in arguing about those commandments by people, groups, and organizations over the past few centuries. But was that time really actually wasted? I say, “NO, it was not!”… But, “Yes, it was!” Are WE wasting our time NOW by debating these things? YES!.. And no. Because god PLANNED for all that time to be wasted. He KNEW it would happen. And, if I were to speculate (which I will now do), I would say god created all that wasted time on purpose to make us happy and keep us occupied until he returns.Basically, all this wasted time is his way of saving us from boredom. Therefore, we ARE wasting time, but it is beneficial to us, in which case it is not wasted time. And THAT is the beauty of it all! It’s god’s way of saying, “Even though you heathen bastards don’t believe in me (by my own design, of course), I still love you enough to make you happy (before I send you to hell).” Ain’t god wonderful?
But they NEED the assault rifles to defend the 10 commandments. God isn’t capable of doing it you know. They just cut out the - Thou shalt not kill part.
Oh, I’ve been telling anyone who will listen for some time, that the real central message of this turgid mythology can be summarised as “kill all who do not conform”, and this mythology was the vehicle that enabled this verminous practice. Prior to reading this thread, all the references I was aware of, exhorting this as a purported “virtue”, were from the Old Testament - namely Exodus 22:20, Exodus 23:24, Deuteronomy 7:5, Deuteronomy 13: 6-10, Deuteronomy 13: 12-15,Deuteronomy 17:2-5, 2 Chronicles 15:13 and Jeremiah 12: 1-3. But thanks to this thread, I can now add Luke 19:27 to the list, and point out that the New Testament not only repeats the message, but asserts that Jesus himself approved of such measures.
Not surprising that the most fundamentalist varieties of Christianity are also the most likely to incite followers thereof to violence. Though the Catholic Church spent 1,500 years in Europe, exhorting its followers to torture and burn anyone who didn’t conform to doctrine, and the message was gleefully pursued by murderous mythology fanboys during that period.
What is particularly disturbing about the more recent emergence of Christian Nationalism in the USA, is that this is taking place within a nuclear superpower, and that the proponents thereof manifestly cannot wait to fire up their own Inquisition. Indeed, as an example of the sort of “thinking” that is doing the rounds among such people, I point everyone who hasn’t already seen these, to a pair of verminous little screeds, namely this one and this one, which really brings home how much the hardcore ideological stormtroopers for Republican Jesus cannot wait to start butchering anyone outside their narrow pale.
The current brand of American god botherers are dangerous. Possibly to the point of being an existential threat to the entire human species.
Oh come one now. Fake news. Just because the guy went to church once or twice does not make him a ‘real’ Chriatian. No ‘real’ Christian would ever own child pornography. Everyone knows that. Whoever wrote the article is just jumping on the antitheist bandwagon. They are using poor Jerod as a strawman to condemn all theists. It’s a slippery slope fallacy, You find one pedo, call him Christian, and convince everyone that if there is one the rest are going to be doing the same. It’s only a few pictures. That’s like persecuting someone for thought crimes. He was probably getting ready to bust a child pornography ring himself and just days from turning the information over to the police. We can’t really know what was going on in his mind. He was just targeted by the government for his activism. It’s a conspiracy. The only real problem Michael has is that he was not a Catholic. (Think about it.)
Those CSA news articles are frighting to say the least.
Yes, I’m concerned too. I’ve written articles and a poem warning about the christian nationalists threatening to turn U.S. into a theocratic tyranny. As you referenced, do I see modern-day crusades and inquisitions in our future? Yikes.
As with this ten commandments in schools and the Texas senate bill 1515, Phil King who introduced the bill said: “(The bill) will remind students all across Texas of the importance of the fundamental foundation of America.” – Among other things King has said.
How soon one wants to forget that U.S. is supposed to have a secular government, the first amendment establishing the separation of church and state for the very purpose of avoiding theocracies and the similar tyrannies like what we see in the middle east.
But I know the christian nationalists want everyone to forget, so they can initiate and impose their influence.
Unfortunately I have a brother-in-law who’s pretty much a christian nationalist. He hasn’t used that term with me, but his comments in conversation and op-eds he’s published preach those concepts. I try to keep contact with him to a minimum.
I am very, very concerned that if Trump gets elected president again in 2024 that will be the tipping point that pushes the U.S. into an authoritarian, christofascist theocracy, to the detriment of the entire world.
