My doctor is in on it. He talks to me too. He wants me to get injections so they can upgrade the microchip behind my ear. So, yeah. Thanks but not thanks.
Oh Sheldon. What colour is your heart? And from who do you know by that which upon the seasons change from spring to fall? What colour is your heart, enlighman?
Except … you haven’t seen the universe from my vantage point. You haven’t seen the multiverse or the collection of multiverses from where I have - on account of the Deities Power.
So, not having seen what I’ve seen, you pretend to know that from whence it came? A little presumptuous, hmm?
Someone with a boner is vastly more likely to … have a hard time peeing in a toilet. (Unless upside down).
Well. You have not met the people I have met. You have not carried on conversations with the Princess of Arrakis. Fallen in love with her. Am I to presume I have fallen in love with my self? How did I create her persona? I am nothing How can I create my self, much self a doppelgänger of my self?
I have no idea what that means sorry, and I’m not English.
Except no presumption was involved, only the objective evidence from medical science. Do you accept all the anecdotal claims everyone makes, especially those from people who have schizophrenia, and so are up to 50 times more likely to experience powerful hallucinations, that the condition means they struggle to distinguish from reality? I have to go where the objective evidence indicates. No one is claiming these hallucinations are not very powerful when you experience them, quite the opposite.
This doesn’t address the objective evidence though.
Claim to have seen, and again the objective medical evidence suggests these are extremely likely to be powerful hallucinations. In stark contrast anecdotal claims for unevidenced supernatural events are not at all compelling, as I explained.
Well to be fair anyone who suffers from schizophrenia is vastly more likely to experience very powerful hallucinations, and have a problem differentiating them from reality. We all sometimes need help with things, and the safest choice for anyone with schizophrenia is to seek that help.
You really don’t. Do you? In your whole life, you’ve never experienced your body fill with colour?
I’m not in charge of you. But, if I were you, I’d join the nearest cult immediately.
It’s so funny. These colours pass through me like waves on an ocean. I go with the flow from light to dark, deep brown, magenta, bright yellow.
Sad, in a way, that you’ve spent your entire life with your heart sealed up like a vault.
Look. Do you want to talk about rock-hard objective evidence? I’ve got harder evidence than you!
It’s just funny. Because I’ve used LSD on a few occasions and powerful hallucinations are walls bending, geometric shapes flowing in and out of thin air like fractals.
They’re not guided tours of the universe’s edge.
To be honest, I’m at a juncture in my life where I feel i might be a good role model for some of these younger kids just being diagnosed.
Hmm. If they axe me from this job, I’ll look into it.
I’m not much of a “joiner” tbh, Groucho Marx summed it up for me, but the Salvation Army have a place just down the road, maybe they’d let me help out occasionally?
To be honest we seem to be in a loop now, for the sake of brevity I accept you believe your hallucinations are real, so no need to keep listing them in the form of unevidenced anecdotal claims. For the record the objective medical evidence suggests that schizophrenia means they’re extremely likely to be hallucinations, and that the condition would make them extremely vivid and real to you, making it difficult for you to differentiate them from reality.
My heart is a pump made of muscle, so unless you’re dealing in metaphors again I’m not sure what you mean sorry, or what this has to with what the objective evidence indicates?
Another metaphor, again this does not address the objective evidence, and I have already explained that I can’t give anecdotal claims any credence, and precisely because they are unsupported by any objective evidence. NB This would be true in all cases, but I can’t ignore what medical evidence demonstrates about schizophrenia, and the much higher likelihood of hallucinations, and the reduced ability to differentiate between them and reality.
Why would you imagine that hallucinations are reliably consistent? Oh and as someone suffering from schizophrenia I can’t stress enough how unwise using such mind altering drugs is, again seek proper medical advice if you doubt what I’m saying.
I’m glad you’re reaching some sort of equilibrium, but just bare in mind there is no stigma attached to seeking help with such a condition, anymore than someone needed help with diabetes.
I’ve applied a few times. They keep rejecting my application. Hey! You were a Jay-Dub! Know anything about “Brown Jesus Humble Pie”? Come on. I’ve met a few Jay-Dubs. Worked with a pair. They’ve got these really rich, dark brown souls. And if you’re not nice, they’ll bring out the gold. Ami right?
Well. No. And to be honest. It’s a tad bit of a bore after a while. You get good at navigating the colours only to end up completely drained and empty in the end.
Yep. There’s that. There’s also “Satan’s Army” if you’re interested. Much bigger an army. Bigger generals. Bigger weapons. Higher kill to be killed ratio. Not afraid to use the powers of darkness.
The rainbow is a spectrum of electromagnetic radiation that originates from the sun.
“Also known as “frequency” - patterns of vibrations which are perceptible to the human eye on a narrow bandwidth. The body, as Schumer explains, emits these same frequencies from what he calls “energy centres” in the body. Schumer goes on to explain that the heart is instrumental in determining which frequencies will vibrate when, and has determined that four colours exist within the heart. Schumer goes on to explain that children who wet the bed into early adolescence have a hard time “opening” up their hearts to the vibrations around them.”
That’s from my favourite book, “Cold Hard Cash” by Zachary Schumer.
People with allergies are more likely to sneeze.
Sheldon, I came down with this illness at twenty. Now at the ripe and frosty age of 40, I’ve gained composure and stability. The days of going to a doctor for a bandaid on my brain are gone.
I take medication and not for a second would I tell a person suffering from psychosis that anything less is suitable.
It sounds like something I personally would want help with, but I guess only you can ultimately decide that.
I doubt there’s a branch in my street.
Well the Visible Light Spectrum is a subset of the Electromagnetic Spectrum. This is the only part of the EM Spectrum that humans can actually see with the naked eye. The prismatic effect is caused by refraction, when light passes through mediums of different densities. Rainbows form when light bends as it passes through water droplets. That bending is called refraction. As sunlight moves from the air and into the water droplet, all of the separate colours of the light bend in a slightly different way, thereby creating rainbows.
Though what this has to do with my heart being a pump made of muscle isn’t clear, or what your metaphor about the colour of one’s heart, has to do with the objective medical evidence; that indicates schizophrenics are far more likely to experience hallucinations, and far less likely to be able to differentiate between them and reality?
Think of it a little like those with type 1 diabetes being unable to maintain their blood sugar levels, it would be dangerous for them to stop taking regular insulin injections, no matter how they felt about the side effects.
Deflection using irrelevant non sequiturs, ignoring the objective evidence won’t make it go away.
Good, it is important, and despite some of the things you’re saying here, your posts at least seem a little more lucid (on the whole), and a lot less agitated than in previous debates.
It’s hard to gauge how serious he is being as well. Anyway I found this:
Depot medication should be considered for all schizophrenia patients, as nonadherence is high among individuals thus diagnosed, as is the chance of relapse. CBT can be applied as an augmentation to antipsychotic medication for all psychotic patients who experience hallucinations.
A depot injection is a slow-release form of medication . The injection uses a liquid that releases the medication slowly, so it lasts a lot longer.
I had coffee with a friend this morning, who’s a consultant and professor, I mentioned this debate in passing as I thought he’d find it amusing, and he smiled and said how difficult it can be to convince people with schizophrenia to adhere to a prescribed medication regimen.
He crashes (goes bonkers and gets put in the mental hospital against his will). They get him stabilized back on his medication in a week and send him home. He does really well for about a year. Then decides he is doing so well he doesn’t need his medication. About a year later he is going back to the hospital against his will again. He’s been doing this for about 30 years. Every time I have to watch in slow motion as he destroys himself and there is nothing I or anyone else can legally do about it (you can’t have them committed against their will until suicide/homicide threats start to surface). Basically the courts will not intervene when he starts to destroy his life, they will only intervene when he has been successful in destroying it. Rinse repeat.
He’s only a virgin sacrifice away, Sheldon. Anyone can join his army. Even lone soldiers commuting evils. For every evil you commit, Satan lets a fart go.
That’s what I said. What’s the difference. You’re splitting hairs.
Uh. Sorry. Only GRAVITY can bend light. See: Einstein’s general theory of relativity. GAWD!
Potatoes are far more likely to turn into French fries.
Statistics aren’t objective. They’re probabilistic. Which makes them highly flexible and open to interpretation - not to mention, they’re constantly fluctuating.
Isn’t that strange? I’m finding I’m a lot less PEEVED by your comments. I think I see your true colours, Shelly.
Talking behind my back? Well. Well. I have a consultant named “Jeremy” who almost won a noble prize. And he smiled and said, “some people will never see the light. And that’s a Damn shame.”
So, I jerked him off in the alley way for ten bucks. Needed a hit.
I’ve decompensated twice in my life. Thinking I didn’t need the meds.
Took me no more than three weeks to go unbelievably bat shit crazy.
Both times I landed back in hospital. That was when I was abducted by aliens. True story. I shit you not. Fucking alien space ship. Aliens locked me in a cell.
They decided I was non-compliant and went on a year long journey to take me off my meds so that they could test out different meds.
I should file malpractice. Worst year of my life. They finally asked ME what meds I wanted. They said, “shitface, we don’t know what to do. You tell us.”
“Seroquel three times a day. Clonazepam three times a day.”
Got outta there within the next month.
Landed back inside after five years. Put me right back on my meds and I was outta there within a month.
Tried my luck twice. Had to do it a second time to just make sure. Won’t be doing it a third. Got too much to lose.
Let go of what, surrender how, if he existed he’s been dead for over 2 millennia?
You seem to think this kind of deflection will work, but I’m not going to forget this non-sequitur has nothing to do with the evidence that people suffering from schizophrenia are vastly more likely to experience hallucinations, and as a result of the condition will often be unable to differentiate between these and reality.
Well that’s a straw man, and they’re not mutually exclusive. The stats are derived from objective research. This is an old theists trick, of pretending that objective evidence is some sort of absolute, when it is not, nor have I ever claimed it is of course. In fact I have gone out of my way many times to explain this is not the case. The point is that statistics derived from objective scientific research is more compelling than unevidenced anecdotes, especially when they are overwhelmingly likely to be part of a delusion derived schizophrenia. If you have a problem with that then take it up with science, or produce some objective evidence that anything supernatural is even possible.
