Yes this does seem to be the MO of a lot of theists who come here. You might want to consider what it implies about the validity of the beliefs being preached. Though I somehow doubt you will.

I don’t care what you do. Try to do something. I shouted this story in every store I went into yesterday. I’m usually really shy but it wasn’t hard for me at all. We can’t let this happen!

Evidence for this story - I gave good reason (evidence) of laws in TN regarding tax sales on homes 
Ignoring this and pleaing doesn’t strengthen the “story”. And if this story was true, it in no way obligates me to “help”. I will put my $$$ where I choose to put my money and I have more than enough local folks (in my own community) that I can choose to help through whatever means I choose to do it.

Touche. I’m trying to do what I can. I don’t have money. I’m not a lawyer although I have some experience with tax sale because I bought the land next to my house and my mother’s house by these means. I will post a link in a minute. If any of you care can you help me come up with a concise summary. As you have experienced, I am anything but concise. People need that to grasp it, I think.

Spin the hecklers round that say she should throw away half of her life, and the last place she held her husband’s hand and move into a retirement community when she is of able mind and body she just aged.
She’s a war veteran. She was in the Korean war. She had a duty writing letters to the families of soldiers that had died in combat. Because of her social work experience she often had to go and speak with those families. Her father survived the Spanish flu. She knows that he almost died from mercury poisoning from the medicine prescribed rather than from the flu.
Mama Jordan is 90 years old. She bought that house with her husband the first day they saw it. All of the hundreds of lilies in front of her home started from two bulbs her husband brought to her on his way home from work.
She designed the driveway that she circles three times every day to equal one mile!
This will break her.

We are at a global ground zero. Everything has a chance to be reworked.
When I was talking to channel 5 news she said that she had done a story just like this where they took her house.
And I said for one it wasn’t just like this because she’s a war veteran and there should be more than one entity involved. She should be tax exempt through the VA. Why didn’t anyone make sure she understood these things?
even though she paid into the taxes 17 years past the age of 65, her house was sold for 8 years back taxes.
How screwed up is that?

I kept my wife for 20 years. The year we met after 9/11, I lost my job and my life savings. I worked away for 5.5 years, leaving her live in my house while I paid all the household bills, and the mortgage. We married after 6 years together.
Then, on May 13 2019 I went to work, and haven’t seen here since. She’d been seeing someone else, started divorcing me behind my back, and is going to take every penny I have, plus a chunk of my pension, and my xmas present was a local judge refusing to ratify the signed agreement for this, because it seemed an unfair settlement to her.
I’m setting up a gofuckher page, to raise funds, so I can eat meat sometime in the new fucking year…
So sadly I can’t spare any cash. However do give this poor old lady my best wishes…
…and if you see my ex wife, or that judge, tell them merry xmas from me, then kick them in the snatch as hard as you can.

In brief: No. I don’t know her and I don’t know you. Do I care? In principle, of course. Emotionally, not really. If I was to even try care about every tragedy I came across I would be in a room with rubber walls, or have killed myself from despair.
I’m a pensioner on a small income. I chose the two charities I support after a lot of research. They are; Doctors Without Borders and the Fred Hollows Foundation.
I find it interesting that no theist has ever managed to justify the existence of evil and suffering. When presented by this issue, I Iike to quote Epicurus.

Maybe it’s just me and I don’t want to be a Scrooge; but not paying your taxes for over a decade, seems a bit more than just a technicality.
I bet if you looked around you could throw in some pieces of the cross.

@boomer47 I’m not asking you to donate money. I only put up the crowdfunding because people were acting like I was irresponsible for not.
All I’m asking for you to do is share the story and shine a light on this Injustice.
A couple of you might already understand the situation right now. All I’m trying to do is to help an injustice. I know there is God and I believe in him. I know this will work out. I just want to know if you guys want to help. I found you guys to be intelligent for the most part and open-minded for the most part.
I feel we were really able to have conversations with differing opinions and have a good time with it.
I don’t like the idea of having to turn and bite each other’s neck for something that technically belongs to Mama Jordan already.

If the Chancellor’s for this case are sitting there watching stories about Mama Jordan on the morning news while they have their coffee and they see her on the evening news while they eat their dinner, and people are riding into new stations and calling and writinging on the County Twitter page or whatever or however you do that.

@Tia_Thompson This tragic human story has devolved into a money situation. Unless you come up with the money, no matter how much activism and pleading you do, it won’t help.
Banks and financial institutions deal with evictions each day, they are basically immune to pleading. For them, it is the money, and just the money that matters.

In my old life, many years ago, I foreclosed on a few. Personally responsible to act on behalf of the financial institution. And I did. Never lost a wink of sleep.
I was also personally responsible to act on behalf of the financial institution to lend businesses money. Start ups, established, etc. Never felt I did “good” or made someone’s dream come true.
I understand that.
I said no and explained why even though I have no obligation to do so.
