Atheists and abortion

This shit is scary. I’m afraid for all democracy in general. These people have slowly been brainwashed by their comfortable echo chambers of conservative and social media who think nothing of putting out straight up conspiracy theories along as it’s for their side. They are not willing to hear any evidence that could possibly conflict with their worldview. 20 years ago, none of these people would have ever voted for Trump or believed any of this stolen election BS. But now, they have their “sources” to reinforce their invisible beliefs. This is why I’ve become so big on epistemology. My list of the biggest 3 problems with US politics right now are: willful ignorance, bad epistemologies, and tribalism.

I agree, modern “Trumpism” stared here and was fed from conservative outlets like TBN and Fox News and embraced by evangelical Christians. Trumpism and Q-anon are natural outflows of this. Believing in Satan is a prerequisite to believing that all Democrats are Satan worshiping pedophiles.

The sad thing is, this type of mental-political corruption is really easy for a group to do over time to a segment of the population in a free society. The more sane voices on the right are no longer there or are being pushed out. I feel that as a nation, we have moved backwards more since 2016, than we did going forward since 2000.

Another of the many problems here is that there is no floor with these guys. I literally have no idea what invisible problem like critical race theory these guys are going to invent next to enrage their base. I think Jan 6 is just the tip of the iceberg for political violence.

Depending on how things go in 2022 and 2024, I’m seriously considering New Zealand as a back up plan. There are road rage shootings here on the freeways in Houston at least once per week. But don’t worry, those guns keep us safe… I don’t want my family exposed to this shit.

This is all due to their refusal to accept what reality is.

Their refusal to continue on a path or choose a path to improve humanity within reality.

They NEED their “last days” and apocalyptic future. It’s what they live for.

If men were told after having one child or after a certain age they were told they were too old to have children and that they had to have a mandatory castration, how long before men go out on the street protesting “My body my choice?”

Saw this over on Facebook and it reminds me that there are always exceptions to any rule…

I’m not pro-murdering babies.

–I’m pro-Becky who found out at her 20-week anatomy scan that the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed without life sustaining organs.
–I’m pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later.
–I’m pro-Theresa who hemorrhaged due to a placental abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child.
–I’m pro-little Cathy who had her innocence ripped away from her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11-year-old body isn’t mature enough to bear the consequence of that betrayal.
–I’m pro-Melissa who’s working two jobs just to make ends meet and has to choose between bringing another child into poverty or feeding the children she already has because her spouse walked out on her.
–I’m pro-Brittany who realizes that she is in no way financially, emotionally, or physically able to raise a child.
–I’m pro-Emily who went through IVF, ending up with SIX viable implanted eggs requiring selective reduction to ensure the safety of her and a SAFE number of fetuses.
–I’m pro-Jessica who is FINALLY getting the strength to get away from her physically abusive spouse only to find out that she is carrying the monster’s child.
–I’m pro-Vanessa who went into her confirmation appointment after YEARS of trying to conceive only to hear silence where there should be a heartbeat.
–I’m pro-Lindsay who lost her virginity in her sophomore year with a broken condom and now has to choose whether to be a teenage mom or just a teenager.
–I’m pro-Courtney who just found out she’s already 13 weeks along, but the egg never made it out of her fallopian tube so either she terminates the pregnancy or risks dying from internal bleeding.

You can argue and say that I’m pro-choice all you want, but the truth is:

I’m pro-life.
Their lives.
Women’s lives.

You don’t get to pick and choose which scenarios should be accepted. It’s not about which stories you don’t agree with. It’s about fighting for the women in the stories that you do agree with and the CHOICE that was made.

Women’s rights are meant to protect ALL women, regardless of their situation!

Overturning Roe does not stop abortions, it stops SAFE abortions!

Abortion is healthcare.

I’m pro-pregant person who retains the bodily autonomy to separate themselves from another living thing for any reason they choose, because that living thing does not possess special rights that supercede the rights of a living, breathing person.

I’m pro-Jane. The fetus Jane was carrying sadly died. Now Jane is going to die because in the State where she lives it is now illegal to remove the rotting fetus.

Some light at the end of the tunnel?

Voters in Kansas, a GOP-controlled red state, overwhelmingly voted to reject a measure that would remove abortion rights from the state constitution, which would have given the legislature the ability to pass anti-abortion measures.

Yea for our side. It just proves what the polls already showed, that most people think it should be a woman’s choice. I can only hope that it makes a difference in who people vote for. Nothing is going to change as long as spewing anti abortion rhetoric gets politicians more votes than it loses.

Tombstone is one of my favourite films, Kilmer had some awesome lines in that film. I laugh everytime I see it.

A little off topic sorry…:innocent:

Now that the people of Kansas have spoken, I wonder what tactics the Republican-controlled legislature will use to get around their constitution and push through anti-abortion measures? I’m sure they’re already thinking along these lines.

Just finished watching it again yesterday. Doc is my favorite and my oldest has memorized almost all his lines.

The anti abortion side has already been up to shady stuff. The day before the vote they put out a text about how your choice and rights are going to be taken away unless you vote yes, when of course it was just the opposite. Then they had the nerve to say the pro choice side won by putting out misinformation. I don’t think there’s any depth to which they won’t sink. That’s one of the problems with those who think there’s a god and he’s on their side, they think whatever they do is justified. I don’t know how much Kansas reflects other red states to begin with though. After all, they got protections for abortion into their state constitution while other red states were passing trigger laws to immediately trigger abortion bans if Roe v Wade got overturned. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I can’t imagine that anti abortion activist will be eager to let voters directly decide after such a sound defeat.

@Kellii It was a small victory, but it also gave the anti-abortion gang tactics on how to deal with this.

I do respect the honesty of these people finally letting the full flower of their ghastly hideousness see the light of day.

Shine on, South Carolina!

What the fuck is wrong with these people? They want to force rape victims to have kids they didn’t “legally” consent to?
