In Wisconsin, where there’s now a good chance state law will soon criminalize abortions unless the mother’s life is in jeopardy, Planned Parenthood abortion providers were already considering a clinic just on the other side of the Illinois border.
The consequences of the Bronze Age once again managing to paste it’s abysmally ignorant values onto the 21st Century.
FFS, this sucks. It didn’t take the supreme court sky daddy fanboys long to make sure their bronze age preference regarding laws to be implemented. It’s a sad, sad day for the civilized world
If I showed those pictures to my wife I can guess what she’s say:
Have no fear: upper class women have had (and will continue to have) uninterrupted access to abortions for more than 100 years. Abortion legislation is for the poor and people “of color”.
There is a great news spoof site here out of Texas (Austin) called the onion. For the Uvalde shooting they filled their entire site with all the mass shootings in the past several years each with the same title of “No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens”.
They did the same thing today, but multiple headlines for the supreme court abortion decision. Headlines like: “Kavanaugh, Thomas Champion Creating Better Future For Next Generation Of Rapists”.
The Jackass ruined satire for me. After four years of that fucking idiot, the Onion’s satire pales in comparison to the dog shit drivel that he spewed on a daily basis.
Now they’re debating taking away contraception. And people here wonder why I still have a problem with Christians. This is what I’m talking about. Religion and politics do not mix.
Well, the “patriots” are getting the America they want. Good job
Welcome to the new Theocratic States of America.
The Canadian Conservatives have been quiet about the ruling down south. We know why. AND I will not vote for them BECAUSE of it. They have moved far into the tRump/Republican power playbook.
I don’t think it’s right for people to force their imaginary high moral standards onto women and call it “Freedom of Religion”. Christians wouldn’t like it if Muslims got their way and Sharia Law became legal.
I am Pro Choice. Always was, and always will be. Women has the right to choose what to do with a bunch of cells in her own body.
These Pro Lifers care too much about what would happen to these cells in a matter of 9 months! If so, why can’t they ban masturbation? Those sperms released can also make a baby if it is used properly! It’s not about Human Life. It’s about oppressing women, controlling them.
On the Hutterite Colony was a young wife who had problems getting pregnant. We did become friends.
She finally did, and that’s when I learnt that “pregnancy” was hidden from the kids.
Late into her 3rd trimester, it was discovered the fetus had a condition (can’t quite remember the name…but basically it was brain related and it wouldn’t develop much further…horrible description, damn I wish I could remember BUT), and wouldn’t live past 3 months after birth.
It was offered. An abortion. She of course declined.
Baby was born.
Rarely ate. Didn’t grow. It’s cry was strange. It was “vacant” (it’s eyes). Hard to describe. When I visited twice before her death, I held her baby and of course “mom” and I talked.
She died at 2 months after birth. Thin. Smaller than when born (slow emancipation???).
By that time, the young mom was in a deep depression. Deep. She had disconnected from her daughter and the pain of trying to feed a dying baby, a non responsive baby took its toll. Many of the others on the colony took turns carrying for the dying girl.
Her prayers for any type of miracle were not answered. There wasn’t anything that medical science could do.
Edited to add: It’s not common, I tried googling and there are various developmental issues that are genetic or environmental or (who knows?). All I know is she chose a painful path for her and the baby. That’s OK. It was her choice.
BUT late term abortions are available for reasons.
It started with the Tea Party. A loud group of discontented conservatives were adopted by the Republican party, and that trend manifested itself in the form of power and money. Those who embraced the Tea Party agenda found themselves with more power and a sudden influx of money. Other politicians looked on, and if they were corruptible, rode that bus to where we are today, where money rules, donations rule, and one says all kinds of bat-shit crazy stuff to placate those few loud crazies and make a shit-load of money.
