Last night, the republicans in the HoR agreed to a bill that will add an estimated ten trillion dollars to the debt, strip medical and food support from the most fragile citizens, and provide payouts to the uber wealthy.
The Supreme Court rejected a plan by the state of Oklahoma to use public money to finance religious charter schools.
The decision was 4-4, with Barrett recusing herself.

As one analyst pointed out, itâs widely understood in the military that there are no such things as âinvitationsâ or âsuggestionsâ from a superior officer. No matter how they are superficially couched, an âinvitationâ like the one issued by Hesgeth is, in reality, an order, and everyone understands this.
The author told of his days in the military, serving on a base where the commanding general was into Line Dancing in a big way. The local hangout was hopping with a Line Dancing shindig every Tuesday night, the place bursting with people eager to hang out with the General.
When that General was promoted elsewhere, within 2 weeks the customary Line Dancing party was shut down for lack of attendees.
So ⌠yes this âinvitationâ is objectionable on separation of church & state grounds, objectionable to Jews and Muslims and Buddhists and unbelievers in the service, or even really to liberal Christians. But itâs also far more ominous than it appears, because this is the supreme commander expecting one and all to partake in his personal religious oblations.
Not only that, but the bill also codifies much of Trumpâs executive power grabs at the expense of Congress and the judiciary that were in his executive orders. If this bill passes as-is, game over. Call your Senators TODAY!
The Texas Senate just passed a bill that requires schools to use AD / BC and not BCE / CE. In fact, they require that schools may not even use books that contain BCE / CE.
Make âem reactionary while theyâre young!
How else will regressive policies and ideas gain support in the future? The son and the father and holy ghost canât produce credulous and non-inclusive citizens without the help of true believers, after all.
Sen. Creighon and fed Sen. Thune ought to get together and go bowling.
Wouldnât this come under the heading of violation of the Establishment Clause?
Not that I expect the current junta to care one iota about this, but the ACLU certainly will, and probably file a suit.
COUGH! first amendment COUGH!
It seems there are quite a few folks who donât give two shits about the constitution. Perhaps theyâre emulating their potus.
There are a lot of people in the US who are so frightened that they canât tolerate anything that looks like dissent, so they try to pass laws banning the stupidest of things and this CE/BCE thing is just the latest example. Theyâd ban the rainbow appearing after a rain shower if they could.
Hereâs another situation thatâs important to know about. The U.S. DoJ is injecting itself into a cityâs rulings under the guise of âprotecting religious liberty.â This is yet another example of what a vote for trump has wrought.
Iâm not saying correlation equals causation and The Con has a plan.
I am saying heâs rapaciously self interested and avaricious, though. I will say that.
He who dies with the most money wins.
Iâm kind of looking forward to prices going up because maybe, just maybe, his base will feel the pain of his lies. Of course everyone will but nothing else seems to have really gotten their attention. Who knows, they shrug their shoulders about prices not going down as promised, and even seem down right happy about masked men snatching people off the street.
We havenât had many high quality polls in the past few weeks but [dis]approval ratings for Shitler havenât moved much; if anything, thereâs a small uptick. That suggests to me that many people arenât paying the slightest attention.
My guess is that his base is particularly vulnerable to believing that all pain they might experience is the fault of immigrants, Democrats, or whatever new bogeyman they invent.
So, hate to say it, but Iâm not holding out a lot of hope for vast numbers of MAGA to see the light. They now live in âthe upside downâ.
The old Roman term bread and circuses springs to mind;
In a political context, the phrase means to generate public approval, not by excellence in public service or public policy, but by diversion, distraction, or by satisfying the most immediate or base requirements of a populace, by offering a palliative: for example food (bread) or entertainment (circuses). Juvenal originally used it to decry the âselfishnessâ of common people and their neglect of wider concerns. The phrase implies a populationâs erosion or ignorance of civic duty as a priority.
I havenât lost all hope. Most havenât really felt it personally yet. Although prices havenât gone down as promised they havenât as a whole gone up at the grocery store. When WalMart raises prices that will pretty much affect everyone I know in the working class, most are stretched pretty thin. That will be hard to ignore or blame on Biden, though Iâm sure theyâll try.
