They have the same myopic view of religion, as they have of politics, extremists are always like that. Appealing to Trump’s sense of decency seemed unlikely to trigger anything but scorn, and that was precisely the response it got.

The only glimmer of hope I see, is that Trump fucks this up so badly and so quickly, that by the midterms it causes an avalanche of protest votes. Though of course, you don’t need to be a genius to know that no matter how badly he fucks it up, he’ll be blaming someone else, and you can take a fare bet who it will be.

Nebraska voted for Trump. As a result, they might run out of workers.

Nebraska might need immigrants, but it also voted overwhelmingly for President Trump, who has threatened to carry out mass deportations of people living in the U.S. illegally.

But hey, why not pay your workers a living wage, then you might even get qualified workers that are legal residents to move to Nebraska? But that would mean less profit for the owners, so it’s probably unrealistic.

Edit: On a related note, “Farms already seeing ‘massive drop off’ in workers as mass deportations begin”:

So Mr. Orange is going to deport illegal immigrants, who are an important (although unofficial) part of the work force, and hence also the economy. Let’s say that he is able to deport them in large enough numbers that there is a shortage of workers in important sectors like agriculture and food processing, the low-level service industry, etc. These jobs have to be filled somehow, or else the USA will be left wil a lot less homegrown food. This will inevitably mean that food prices will go up, contrary to what Mr. Orange promised.

Deported agricultural workers will need to be replaced. The only ones who can replace them are then citizens and legal residents. Because of the worker shortage, farmers will have to pay their workers more. Which means the prices will go up.

The alternative will be to import more food, but since there will be tariffs everywhere, prices will go up. Most probably, food prices will go up because of both of the above reasons.

I’m just waiting for the MAGAists to claim that this is Biden and the Democrats’ fault.

No. He will order them rounded up, placed in “holding” camps and then used as forced labor for Trump supporting industries. Holding out the promise of settlement if they “behave”. Arbeit Macht Frei anyone?

A much more likely scenario.

Yup.
Unfortunately I thought of this.
Prisoners are “slaves”.
Round them up and make ‘em work from “work camps”.
Siberian Gulags.

I don’t think he’s going to deport them. Remember, slavery is still legal in the U.S. Here’s the wording of the 13th amendment:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

So all they have to do is throw them into camps, try and convict them for a crime (being in the country illegally), and then they have slaves they can use as they wish, or lease them to private companies.

Succeed in all the ways the Nazis failed?

In doing what? Using bullying and exclusion to rule, convincing a country’s population that ultranationalism is desirable, and enacting racist policies, all in perpetuity?

… Actually, that does track.
