That trump is telling walmart to eat the tariff increases instead of passing it to consumers just shows what a big phat liar he was being all those times he said exporting countries pay the tariffs, not U.S. citizens.
Trump said this in a tweet (or whatever the hell you call a post on Lie Social):
âWalmart should STOP trying to blame Tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain. Walmart made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS last year, far more than expected,â Trump said in a social media post.
Iâm glad to see that the Cheeto is finally acknowledging the economy last year under Biden wasnât as horrible and broken as heâs claimed it to be.
It appears Orange hasnât read Sowell, who rightly teaches that originating government policy without understanding consequences is a recipe for creating or exacerbating problems.
Didnât Shiller ever rub off on the rest of the faculty at Wharton?
I strongly doubt that Trump is religious at allâin fact, he may even be an atheistâbut he uses religion as a means to an end.
Heâs the worst kind of populist opportunist, and I doubt his ego would allow for a deity that was greater than he was. I have exactly the same impression as you express here.
They just substituted âtruthâ and âre-truthâ for âtweetâ and âre-tweetâ.
My impression is that heâs not remotely curious about such matters and I agree, itâs all transactional and a means to an end. As a former student of the Bible, I note countless âtellsâ, large and small, that he has no clue what heâs talking about and has not read the Bible, at least not for comprehension.
Not that doing so would have improved his mental state or whatever, but ⊠heâs a flaming hypocrite, right up there with the leading teachers of authoritarian Christianity.
I lean in that direction too, but Iâm not completely convinced he doesnât consider himself a christian. He certainly doesnât seem to have much knowledge of the bible, or even of core Christian beliefs, but thatâs the way of many people who I believe sincerely think of themselves as christians. Even being a raging narcissist doesnât preclude a belief in a god if you think that god favors you and needs your help.Trump did a rather convincing take, at least to me, on how and why he thinks god protected him from that assassinâs bullet.
No way? Just when I think their outrageous dishonest hubris canât surprise me anymore, this is a valuable lesson I feel I have just been given.
That hubris recently extended to the US Embassy in Stockholm sending a letter to the city authorities ordering them to kill off all their DEI initiatives.
You have three guess what the response of the Stockholm city authorities was to this, after they stopped laughing.
Upon seeing this over at Faecesbook, and the laughter it elicited from the sane posters there, I launched into another editorial piece. Viz:
American exceptionalism and its âmanifest destinyâ travelling companion, have always been pernicious exercises in overweening arrogance.
Exercises that fail to recognise how much of the standing of the USA was the product of good fortune (e.g., oil being found in Texas), skulduggery (e.g., resource grabs in the Middle East), and the failures of others (e.g., Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan).
However, reality is now pissing on this delusion from a great height.
US car makers kept making ridiculous gas guzzler models long after the Japanese were showing them how to build for the future. If you want decent, economical cars, you buy Toyota or Honda. If you want premium luxury cars, you buy Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or if you can afford to, Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Boeing has recently gone into catastrophe mode, and as a result, Airbus and Embraer are set to swoop in and steal Boeingâs customer base. Even American airlines are now doing the previously unthinkable, and buying Airbus models.
Until Putin went into Hitler mode in Ukraine, a proportion of the US space programme relied upon Russian launch vehicles. The Russian RD-180 rocket engine powers several US rocket launchers.
Most US manufacturing has been outsourced to China, because fat rich CEOs didnât want to spend money providing American workers with decent pay and conditions, and instead wanted to collect penis-extension Bond villain yachts. Which are built in Germany and Italy.
Yet amidst all of this, the MAGAlâQaeda hotheads in the current junta think they can order other countries to do their bidding.
DumpTrump couldnât even make his fantasy wall a lasting reality. By contrast, the Chinese built a wall thatâs lasted nearly 2,000 years.
And amidst the attempt to bring other countries to heel by presumptuousness and forced âdealmaking,â the regime⊠er, administration⊠is now moving into the following.
Adding âfamous entertainment peopleâ to the tried and true list of intelligentsia, certain undesirable demographics, and the legal profession as targets for abuse of power! Der FĂŒhrer really is an innovator.
Wait⊠Orange. I meant Orange.
Same thing happened in Oslo. The companies that deliver electrical power and central heating to the embassy received a similar letter. These companies own the power lines, the central heating infrastructure, and do garbage removal, and they are owned by the city. An Oslo city representative laconically commented in the newspapers, after refusing to obey: âWe donât think the embassy will ask us to switch off the electricity, turn off the heat, or stop collecting their garbage.â
Apparently heâs forgotten that these people are rich enough to hire a small army of lawyers to fight back with. Lawyers who are likely to win, given the track record set by his felony convictions in NY state.
Come to think of it, the targeting (âinvestigatingâ) of well known entertainment industry persons does also smack of McCarthyism.
Will we soon see kangaroo courts masquerading as House Un-Trumpistan Activities Committee hearings?
Thatâs probably the next big wet dream heâs hoping to make a reality.
Though if it enjoys the same success as his border wall, which I gather is still about as much use as the proverbial fishnet condom, itâll end up being another source of transient comedy memes.
However, this does depend upon how many legally competent people he can arm-twist, in this blatant attempt to convert his manbaby vindictiveness into policy.
Don the Con may eventually have more time on his hands to do so.
World leaders may begin responding to his requests for meetings with, âYeah⊠no. Fuck you and your ambushes, pal.â
