Yes, a very interesting essay.

IMO, there have been several triggers for the current political situation in this country. One was the Brown v. Board of Education decision in 50s that desegregated schools, along with similar civil rights laws passed in the 60s, including the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. Whites were no longer the undisputed occupiers of the very top of the pyramid, and they’d enjoyed undisputed privilege for so long that the new equality felt like oppression.

Another trigger was the decline of American manufacturing. A huge swath of the population was employed in factories, and when these moved offshore those workers felt betrayed. Entire towns withered and died. Most of those formerly employed in factories, where a single income earner could support a family, buy a house and a few cars, and live a middle class life, are now working in some service industry and their standard of living has decreased significantly.

Yet another trigger is the rise of dominionism. There’s a small group of religious nuts who want to make the U.S. a theocracy in the mold of Iran, with “biblical law” replacing secular law, including the institution of harsh penalties, including death, for “crimes” such as adultery, homosexuality, blasphemy, and disrespecting your parents. They want to dismantle the public education system and replace it with church-run schools and take over all social services as well. They’re well-funded, fanatical, own many media outlets, and have been making serious inroads recently in their fight against democracy.

Chuck Schumer (D-Israel), Senate Democrat leader, votes NO on Bernie Sanders’ measures to block arms sales to Israel.

Again, the Democrats have failed to find the pulse of American voters

Yep, that’s why I added the (D-Israel) after his name. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

A high school principal in Oklahoma tackled a former student who entered the school with a gun, preventing a mass shooting. The principal was shot in the leg while wrestling with the shooter.

Damn, this principal has more guts and courage than the entire Uvalde police force!

A country that requires everyone to take off their shoes at the airport after one guy with matches hidden in them tries to board an aircraft but does nothing about sensible gun control is a shithole country.

Want to know something really strange? Today there are several news stories about how SpaceX has been secretly buying Cybertrucks.

The private Muskrat company propping up the public Muskrat company. It’s just another creative way Muskrat does money laundering (SpaceX is heavily subsidized by the U.S. government, so this “purchase” is merely Muskrat moving government money to Tesla).

It seems absolutely incredible to me why Tesla has been so absurdly overvalued for so long.

The government has taken the first steps in repayment of the tariffs that the Supreme Court recently ruled unconstitutional.

Anyone want to bet whether us consumers ever see a cent of these refunds? In other words, the rich get richer and we get screwed. Again.

The revolving door turns again. This time it’s Labor Secretary Chavez-DeRemer quitting amid an investigation into widespread misconduct.

How long do you suppose this will last?

TODD BLANCHE: “We’re not going to prosecute the predators in the Epstein files and we’re not going to release their names to the public.”

edited to add: I cannot find enough words to describe how angry I am about this. I’m so fucking appalled at the totem pole of value for people this represents. Rich, white, cis men at the top; non-white girl children at the bottom. You absolutely know how all the others are sorted.

Im coming to the conclusion that America has not changed. Just that same kind of people who have overseen every genocide, every massacre, every example of sexual abuse are finally shedding their guise of humanity.
Unfortunately they also have all tbe power today.

Todd Blanches statement is a ‘giant fuck’ you to everyone not acceptable to the epstein class. .
Which includes everyone in these forums regardless of their political leanings.

Wow. No stalling, no hemming and hawing, just flat out saying they have no intention of prosecuting crimes. Republicans are the law and order party? They’re rather selectively “tough on crime”. It’s chilling the things they don’t deem worthy of prosecution.

I think this quote sums up conservatives quite nicely:

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect"

“As everyone knows, I am an extraordinarily brilliant person” is something no person who is actually brilliant and mentally healthy would ever feel a need to say. And I can’t think of a single person who I’m aware has said anything like that who wasn’t in fact a complete idiot.

Dear government firing squad shooters,

There is always a price to be paid for taking the life of another person, especially by a method that includes close proximity and gore. Best of luck and give all thanks to your pedo boss in times of difficulty.
