Why is it only okay for Christians?

That is where you and I differ greatly. I actually wish MORE Christians would come by wanting to discuss religion with me. I would ENJOY it. And to be fair (and because I am a super-nice guy :innocent:), I even offer them a couple of chances to back out before the discussion starts. I always welcome an opportunity to enlighten those of religion to the true nature of their faith.

You’re right. I think for me is not wanting to talk to them about it. I have learned that it’s a waste of my time to debate with them in the real world, as these debates take days to end and are a waiting game to see who gets the last word.

Their mind is almost never changed. My mind remains unchanged. Just look at the debates on here and how long they go on for. Depending on who it is or what kind of Christian they are, they might ask me to go to church or sit down with them and read a few bible verses. I don’t want to do that. I’d rather they just be on their merry way and I’ll be on mine. It’s becoming one of those things I don’t talk about. I don’t know if you remember me mentioning a guy named Jerry. He brought up one day again that DNA was evidence for a creator at work. Instead of debating with him, I changed the subject. I didn’t go there. I don’t want to. Me debating with him was bullshit. I changed nothing. So I have decided I don’t talk about it. Only on here.

Just the other day, my new sister in law (my brother’s wife) brought up sitting through church. I found myself backing away. It is now one of those subjects I don’t debate in anymore (in real life). It’s caused me nothing but trouble. Piss of the Christians and they make your life difficult, especially the ones that are your family members. On here I can do it without fear of harassment. I can do it without worrying someone is going to call my mother up and bitch and whine that I said their “god is fictional” and that I offended them.

Sounds like you should move then, or take a long vacation somewhere not so religious and see how the rest of us knuckledraggers live.

Ahhhhh… See? THAT is where you are getting all tripped up and all twerked out. You feel like you HAVE TO change their minds. You believe the conversation is totally worthless if they don’t fall to their knees right there on the spot and start thanking you profusely for helping them see how foolish they’ve been. And - quite frankly - if all you are doing is looking at them with disdain and telling them how stupid they are for believing in their bullshit god, I honestly can’t blame them for getting all indignant and digging in their heels deeper to resist. The best way to make somebody cling harder to something foolish is to tell them how foolish they are for clinging to it. So, if anything, your conversations with them serve only to reinforce what they believe and make them stronger in their faith. Congratulations.

See, the reason I enjoy religious discussions with those who are naive enough to instigate such an exchange with me is because I am under no delusions, and have zero anticipations, of “changing their minds.” I am actually CHEERFUL during such talks. I am polite and I listen to their responses. I stay as light-hearted as possible and try to maintain a positive demeanor. I do not make insults toward them, nor do I directly insult their god or beliefs. And I DO… NOT… CARE whether or not I change their mind. That is not the purpose of the discussion. My goal is simply to plant seeds of doubt. That’s it. Maybe those seeds will grow into something that eventually changes that person’s perspective. Maybe those seeds will get smothered and never see the light of day. And I may never know one way or the other, depending on who the person is within my life. Does not matter to me. It’s enough for me to know I actually made somebody stop and think, even if it was just for a moment. It simply amuses me to see the look on their face when I present them with something they cannot counter, and it makes them scratch their head in doubt.

Then why on earth are you posting in a debate forum?

And that does not mean if you see some dumb fuck religious asshole beating the shit out of their kid because "Spare the rod, spoil the child.’ bullshit, that you don’t report their ass to child protective services. There are lines that should not be crossed.

The problem may be that some of those lines were once crossed when you were a child and nothing was done about it. Okay, I get it. Different times, different places, different rules. We are fucking watching them now. (I have a priest story that I have told before. I helped to put one in jail and restrict him from ever working near kids.)

Theists pretend to be so strong in Christ, yet then they present themselves as fragile to the point where they become easily offended as though their beliefs and deity are incapable of withstanding criticism.

Jesus needs their protection as much as he needs their money.

Well, geeee… Let me think…… Oh, I don’t know. Maybe it’s because every single time you bring it up you seem to use it as if it is a valid excuse to act the way you do towards those of religious faith? Just spit-ballin’ here…

Yes, with a couple of exceptions, most all of us here have been through that shit in some form or fashion. Some more “severe” than others. So what? But think about this carefully… How many other members here have you seen repeatedly going on rants about Christians, and then blaming their childhood Christian indoctrination on it EVERY… SINGLE… TIME?

Yes, I get it. If you need to bitch about some crazy religious shit you’ve seen, and you have no other place to go, THIS is the perfect place to unload with like-minded folks who understand. However, the fact that you STILL maintain such internal (and external) anger and animosity about religion after all this time suggests (to me, at least) you still have some issues you need to resolve. I ain’t sayin’ you need to go out and hug a Christian today, but - damn, dude - when are you ever gonna let go of all that rage? That shit ain’t healthy. Even worse, you are still allowing yourself to be controlled by religion.

Five dollars and they let me walk through the automated car wash. But I always pay a little extra for the “Special” wax job.

“Uh, honey, I’m gonna go wash the car.” “Didn’t you wash the car yesterday?”
“Uh…yeah… but I uh…ran through some mud and (mumble mumble) need to go (mumble mumble)”…

No human would want to wash the mud off that undercarriage anyways.

But Munchkins are perfect for the job.

Wow! You bigoted bastard. There is no evidence of Munchkin proclivity for conveyance cleaning…quite different from “Midget tossing” which has clearly been shown to provide measurable entertainment value.

IIRC, those folks are tighter than a military unit so go easy on the Midgets for Distance stuff.

slap

I recommend conveyance washing duty be left to the great apes; they fling over a wide area anyway.

Ha ha ha…yes indeed

Obviously you’ve never been to the “Over-n-Under the Rainbow” walk-thru chassis cleaning facility in Munchkin Land. Those little bastards do AMAZING work! (And I DO highly recommend the “Special Wax Job”. :relieved::drooling_face::relieved:) Sure, the facility in Emerald City does a really nice job. However, the Munchkin Land shop is STRICTLY family owned and operated, and has been since the appearance of the first rainbow. Several generations of Munchkins have absolutely PERFECTED that wax job.

Well! I stand corrected…or sit, actually.
I am in fact starting to warm to the idea of a nice long “ wax job”…

:joy::joy::joy::joy: Oh, that is hilarious! It is evident you have NO IDEA what you are talking about. A “nice LONG wax job”, huh? Woooo…! Wait 'til I tell that one to the flying monkeys and the witch’s castle guards. :joy::joy: Did you not read the part where I said: “Many generations have PERFECTED that wax job.” Let me tell you, anybody who can hold out for more than eight seconds is either intentionally thinking about dead kittens, or they are clinically dead… (strolling away while shaking head and laughing to self)… A nice LONG wax job… :joy::joy::joy:… Funniest thing I’ve heard this year… :joy::joy::joy:
