Reddit has just posted a video clip, featuring people at the Trump rally pointing out the shooter on the roof of a building, with people alerting law enforcement to his presence before he fired any shots.
Yet apparently no one told the Secret Service that there was a known threat presence at that location.
So just what’s going on here?
At the very best, we’re looking at incompetence on the part of local law enforcement and their communications with the Secret Service. There are, of course, other explanations …
It’s also the simplest explanation of course, and no one and no organisation is infallible, and a public shooting is sadly all too common in the US. However I agree it’s bizarre that the secret service allowed someone onto that roof with a rifle. I also thought Trump fist pumping the air afterward was a little weird, but then he is more than a little weird, and is no stranger to hubris, to put it mildly. Also he may have heard the ss agents say the shooter was dead at that point, I heard it clearly in one video I saw.
FWIW I hate conspiracy theories, they tend to appeal to mysteries rather than facts, and of course nearly always violate Occam’s razor.
The SS team assigned to Trump is probably of “B-team” quality. The A-team protects the sitting president.
Trump’s fist pump didn’t surprise me. He’s always looking for ways to boost his image, and being a former actor on a reality TV show, probably thought of the publicity value as soon as he was out of danger.
I don’t really blame the SS. I mean, after all, would you want to take a bullet for that scumbag?
If I may be perfectly frank here, I wouldn’t want anyone, to take a bullet for the Donald. To be fair to the agents on duty, they covered him from view with their own bodies, as soon as they could reach him. I may not share their ethos, at least in this case, but one can only admire their bravery.
So basically the GOP has been maintaining a database of people it can call upon to launch a violent coup, profiling them according to how deeply immersed they are in the very same toxic gun culture the GOP has been fostering. It’s been building its own fascist militia under the radar … until now.
Apparently, Aileen “to the right” Cannon’s dismissal of the stolen documents case has been smacked down by the Appellate Court. I’ll continue watching to learn more …
That’s an old video from 2022 where the 11th Circuit reversed one of Cannon’s earlier rulings. Jack Smith just filed an appeal of her dismissing the indictment with the 11th Circuit, so a decision from the 11th is going to take some time.
it has been fact checked and that rumour is false.
however the fact that Vance once claimed to be gay, has changed his name 3 times and so much more is destroying the donnies campaign. looks like Vancey boy will be cut lol…
He wants women back where they belong, at home having babies so that men can get on with the important stuff. He wants to incentify having kids by giving kids the vote but only parents can decide who to vote for.
If they are going to deport millions of would be immigrants they are going to need lots of babies. By eliminating the department labour they can get kids working at a much younger age. I don’t see any financial incentives to make it feasible for women to stay home having babies. In fact its more and more common for both marriage partners to work.
Vance also doesn’t want it easy to get a divorce because he thinks that divorce is bad for children. He must really hate women if he thinks repeated abuse is no excuse to get a divorce. Children can easily get caught up in the violence too. He, of course, has draconian views on abortion too. Even most republicans don’t seem in line with his views and he might get kicked to the curb for Haley. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. It might be better for democrats if he stayed on the ballot, but the thought of him maybe being the vice president is sickening.
I hope the Donald keeps him, as a) he adds nothing in terms of policy diversity, so will only appeal to voter the Donald already has attracted, and b) expresses views that many voters will might very well find repellant enough to change their vote, and marginal or undecided swing voters might also be prompted not to vote for the Donald.
Frankly Trump could not have picked a worse running mate for VP, I mean from his perspective and the Republican respective of course, has he likely will cost him votes he might otherwise have won.
FWIW this is a view being secretly expressed by key Republicans as well, who viewed the choice with consternation.
His views might be abhorrent, but that might not be a bad thing, looking at the bigger picture.
Here’s an article about a speech DonOld Trump made to a group of christians where he said “in four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.”
Will Trump keep Vance or dump him and go with someone else? The argument for Trump keeping him is that dumping him would look like Trump made a mistake in picking him and Trump never admits his mistakes.
If he ends up dumping Vance, I predict he’ll replace Vance with Haley in an attempt to appeal to women voters who may have voted for Harris.
