I heard that will be four days before the republican convention. Can you imagine the photo ops and campaign fodder that will provide the Dems? Like: A video of the conventioneers giving Trump a standing O while scrolling over the screen the words Guilty of sexual assault Guilty of Tax Fraud and Convicted by a Jury of his peers of business fraud.
Holy fuck!!!
I was thinking a hung juryā¦

Well, as a convicted felon, the Cheato cannot vote for himself!
'Course now you can bet that Trump will play the martyr to the hiltā¦
Well that is a role he has down pat and has been polishing up before the trial got underway.

āThis is long from overā¦ā
Fuck me thatās funnyā¦and yeah, playing the victim is all he has left.
Though I keep hearing a judge banging a gavel, and saying āI hereby sentence youā¦to 4 years in the White Houseāā¦it should be funny, but itās more scaryā¦
So when they make this into a miniseries, I was thinking āOrange is The New Orangeā for the title? Iāll get me coatā¦
Not necessarily true. If he is incarcerated, he cannot vote. He is registered to vote in Florida. Florida defers to the state law in the state in which the conviction was levied- NY in this case. NY law allows a felon to vote as long as they are not imprisoned at the time of the election.
In our household, weāre breaking out the 21 year old Speyside for a toast!
Yeah, NY changed that in 2021. Prior to that convicted felons couldnāt vote.
My first reaction to the news ā¦ YES! YES! YES!
My second reaction to the news ā¦ bugger, all these people have beaten me to it ā¦
Weāre still waiting to see who wins the bet on the first one of the lot to do a night in jail. Still looks like Bannon will be first.
I think Bannon, too. It grieves me to think that the shit-gibbon wonāt do any time on this one. Unfortunately, itās a distinct possibility. Butā¦Iām gratified that he was found guilty. With only a wee dram being enjoyed today, there will be plenty of this lovely scotch for the next celebration
Those who want parallels from the past, look up Julius Streicher. With whom Trump shares numerous attributes.
Rabble rouser and demagogue, seeking power by degrading others? Check.
Sex criminal? Check.
Pedlar of dangerous, delusional fantasies? Check.
Low level of literacy? Check.
Revelling in violence and brutality, with a penchant for gratuitous sadism? Check.
Elevated to a level of power far beyond his competence? Check.
Corrupt and venal to the core? Check.
Given far too many opportunities to corrupt and pervert the course of history? Check.
Intellectually and politically insignificant outside the parallel universe of his rabble rousing? Check.
Routinely diving into the worst cesspits of vulgarity and lowbrow appeal? Check.
Anyone wanting a more in depth delve into these parallels, grab a copy of Airey Neaveās account of the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal, and read the chapter on Julius Streicher. Youāll find the parallels chilling to behold.
Meanwhile, if thereās ONE thing that makes rich wastrel criminals like Trump shit themselves in terror, itās the thought that theyāre going to have to endure even a small percentage of the same shit endured by the poors sneered at by his ilk.
If thereās to be effective deterrent deployed, I say toss the venomous tangerine Harkkonen into Rikers and let him slum it with some of the people he despises the most.
His rant outside the court should be a contempt charge as well, especially his comments on the judge. He simply is an amoral narcissist, who believes he can do nothing wrong, which is perhaps why he seems genuine when raving about being persecuted. I think he might actually believe he doesnāt deserve to be convicted, not that heās innocent exactly, if you see what I mean.
He (Trump) said repeatedly after the trial that it was rigged, and that the judge was conflicted - corrupt. That has to a contempt charge surely?
Itās the same rhetoric whenever heās caught doing something wrong or illegal, itās a political persecution, and he did nothing wrong. Does he think everyone canāt see the evidence presented in a trial? Or does he genuinely believe he can do or say whatever he wants? Itās just bizarre, almost surreal to watch, like his insistence the election he lost was rigged, when the only evidence of wrongdoing points to him and his supporters.
ONe thingās for sure, he is absolutely depending on the blind following of his supporters to get him back into the White House, and if that happens then we will undoubtedly see a what a political witch-hunt really looks like.
I donāt know if the judgeās gag order still applies now that the trial is over. Even if the judge canāt cite him for contempt, anything the Orange Palpatine says could influence the judge with respect to his sentence, so I say let Trump say whatever he wantsāheās very good at putting his foot in his mouth.
He thinks he did nothing wrong here. He claims that since he paid Cohen, that could be considered ālegal feesā since Cohen was a practicing lawyer at the time. He did try to throw his bookkeeper under the bus, but I do give him a tiny, tiny bit of credit by not trying to blame the whole thing on his wife like Alito and Menendez did.
The machinery is already gearing up for that. Thereās the ā2025 Projectā, which should scare the crap out of any sane person, and Johnson, the House Speaker, is also ready: Mike Johnson plans Republican mega-bill ready to push through if Trump wins | Republicans | The Guardian
Trumpās base wonāt be affected by the verdictātheyād vote for him even if he raped a 5-year-old on live TV, but his base is a minority and the only way he can win is by swaying the undecided and those on the fence and by suppressing as much of the minority vote as he can.
Actually, the trial isnāt officially over until sentencing. So the gag order is likely still considered in place until then. Itās also why the notice of appeal canāt be filed yet. However, the order never included gagging his comments about the judge. Even after the trial, if he starts or participates in anything that leads to harm of a juror or court staff member, you can lay odds that Alvin Bragg will bring another indictment.
And Trump isnāt smart enough to realize that making inflammatory statements about the judge while the judge is considering what sentence to impose isnāt exactly a good idea.
