What is the biggest lie?

How in the fuk does the conversation even last. Human beings imbue this thing called life with meaning. Asserting it has no meaning is also a claim that gives ‘it,’ whatever '‘it’ is, meaning. Any assertion about “Meaning of Life” needs demonstrable evidence. Asserting their is meaning beyond the meaning we imbue upon life is no different than making a claim of ‘absolute reality.’ In effect, life must have meaning independent of the beings that ascribe meaning to it. An ‘absolute meaning’ someplace in the cosmos. There is no evidence for such a claim and so the claim itself can be rejected.

The claim “Life is meaningless,” cannot be proved false. It is a non-falsifiable claim (If we are arguing 'absolute meaning. A meaning beyond human thought.) If you are asserting life has no meaning to me, you are a fucking idiot. You don’t get to speak for me or for my meaning of life. So, go fuck yourself.

In the absolute sense; Either life is meaningless or life has meaning. Two prongs of a dilemma. Only one prong can be addressed at a time. “The Jelly Bean Jar,” is a perfect analogy. Either the number of beans is odd or even. (Either life has absolute meaning or it does not.) If I assert, “Life has absolute meaning.” It is the same thing as saying, “The number of jelly beans in the jar is even.” Without actually taking the beans out and counting them, or finding some other empirical means of measurement, this fact cannot be known. Barring all empirical data, the claim is unfalsifiable. As unfalsifiable as the clam for absolute meaning contained in life. If you assert, Life has absolute meaning, I reject your claim. If you assert life has no absolute meaning. I reject your claim. Similarly, if you assert the number of jelly beans is even, I reject your claim. If you assert the number to be odd, I reject your clam.

By rejecting the claim, “The number of jelly beans is odd.” I am not asserting that they are even. I am telling you that you have no fucking idea at all whether the number is odd or not because you have no data supporting your claim. I can tell you the same thing if you make the claim that the number is even. So as long as we are discussing 'absolute meaning of life," we are in the exact same dilemma. You can’t possibly know one way or the other. The claim is unfalsifiable and frankly, a waste of breath.

And you know this how?

If it is a “Fundamental human drive” as you so grandiosely state why am I not dead as I lack that fundamental?

Your statements are becoming more extreme and illogical by each post I read.

Stupidest comment of the year! I would parrot Old Man the the comment is so fucking stupid you should be banned from the site for stupidity.

  1. There is not “impulse” to understand the vacuous phrase, “The Meaning Of Life.” If you want to know your meaning of life, just look at what your doing. Your meaning is to run about making fucking idiotic claims while pretending like you are saying something profound. “THAT” is your meaning. The meaning of your life comes from what you do. You give your life meaning by your actions, no matter how idiotic they may be.

  2. An ultimate meaning for life was previously discusses. It is an unfalsifiable claim. Do you fucking know how to read. Produce some evidence for your claim or go the fuck away.

Endless repetition on a point of broad agreement, to what end? Meaning IN life, and meaning OF life are two very different statements, no matter how often you ignore this. Repeating the same point over and over, while ignoring all responses seems again like trolling.

What objective evidence can you demonstrate for any deity?

Funny how the line “ meaning of life “ is repeated ad nausem with a fearful venom that you might catch something .
I am not talking about the “ meaning of life “ , I am making the point that the statement
“ life is meaningless “ is self evidently false . The simple fact that people will say “ yes , I seek meaning in my life but it is meaningless in the absolute sense “ is absurd .
If life is meaningless how could we know it is meaningless .

Correct and I point I have made repeatedly, I am talking about the statement “ life is meaningless “ NOT “the meaning of life “ .
No I cannot not provide you with any objective evidence for a deity

Over and over and over again, despite having broad agreement, why?

Thank you, though given no other theist has been able to, I’m not really surprised. So life has whatever meaning we can try and attach to it, in the short few years we have. It could be worse…

Well there is nothing like pointing out the obvious -
Plato - How is it possible to look for something when one does not know what he is looking for, and if one should stumble upon it, how would he recognize that was what he was looking for? (Plato, Meno sec. 80d).
Of course you know this already but feel the need to ask anyway .

Yet you keep doing it.

If it is self evidently false, why can’t the rest of us see that? How do you explain this situation? Are we just stupid? Do you think it’s possible you are mistaken about it being self evident?

Words like “self-evident” or “common sense” have no value.

A flat-earther will say “it’s self evident that things fall down”… groups of all sorts spout “common sense” for their logic because their echo chamber agreement, their “common” makes “sense” to them.

It is self evidently false for the simple reason that people seek meaning in their life .

It seems one of us does not understand what self evident means. It seems to me that if you need to appeal to something other than your statement (you know, where you added the part about people seeking meaning), to establish your statement as true; then your statement isn’t self evident. Right?

Also could you address my previous question: how is it that it is self evident to you, but not us?

@Sid As a Mod I am giving you a warning. Your posts are trolling behaviour and are not adding to the discussion (let alone debate).

Either start addressing the questions posed without the same regurgitated response, concede and desist (and perhaps try posting in an area that you can contribute something of value) or I will take appropriate action.

So ipso facto it has no meaning, unless we seek to create it.

The question is now, will we get the wounded pride, the flounse, or will he play the victim?

Well, it’s obvious you did not read my post about the sun going supernova, because you never responded. And to think I put all that time and effort into trying to help you understand. (I feel so neglected. :disappointed_relieved:) However, luckily for you, I am a glutton for punishment. Therefore, I shall attempt to enlighten you in an alternative, yet equally simplistic, convoluted manner.

Yes, many (not all) people do seek meaning in their individual life. And those “meanings” are as unique as the individuals who seek them. Okay. We got that. Big whoop. No shit, Sherlock. Duh. Thank you, Captain Obvious. Be that as it may, it STILL does not address the statement that Life, independently, in and of itself, has some overall grand meaning on a cosmic level. Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn’t. Who the hell knows? But YOU say you KNOW it DOES have some meaning. Please, do tell us what that meaning might be so that we can all bask in the glory of knowing it. Or do you simply think we godless heathens are not worthy of such knowledge? (Once again, I feel so neglected. Woe is me! :sob:)

Anyway, as I tried to demonstrate in my earlier post, suppose I hit “Reply” to send this post and it somehow caused the planet Earth to catastrophically explode, obliterating us and every single living creature/organism we’ve ever known? Tell me, please, what is/was the meaning of Life? Our world is barely a microscopic speck of dust in our galaxy ALONE. And compared to the known universe, we might as well not even exist. See what I’m saying?

That’s got to be up there.

I’m not interested in hearing anything else that you have to say until you strictly answer the question that @Sheldon asked.

Again. Answer the question. I don’t know why that’s so hard for you to do. It’s real simple.
