Also, evens on a ‘Just sailing headlong into the same foundation-less claims’ option.

And if that starts to occur in a rapid fire fashion, I’ll put good money on gish gallop, please.

The winter solstice marks the end of winter? I thought it marked the first day of winter, and March 20-21st was the first day of spring.
The days do slowly get longer after that, but it’s still at least 2 more months of cold weather.
Unless Punxsutawney Phil says otherwise, right?

Fascinating… On so many levels, truly fascinating. Andy, I understand your frustrations here. You have tried your best to make these simpletons see the glaring truth of your statements. Yet, they are obviously flailing hopelessly in their attempts to comprehend your scientific and scholarly terms as related to the subject matter. Sadly, you sometimes just have to dumb it all down to their level of understanding.

Fortunately for you, I speak their language. So, if I may, please allow me to relay you message to them in a manner that will make your teachings crystal clear. Here we go…

…(addressing thread participants)…Listen up, you morons! I will say this as simply as possible so as not to put too much strain on those pitiful little excuses for brains with which you all are blessed. Now, pay attention:

  • ALL (every single damn one) ancient civilizations worshiped their own version of the sun god and celebrated the winter solstice. ALL of them. Get it? No exceptions! Get that through your thick skulls already. This shit ain’t rocket science.

  • Ancient civilizations in Australia likely did NOT worship a sun god or celebrate the winter solstice because Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, and it was too isolated from the smarter civilizations that DID worship sun gods and celebrate winter solstice.

See how easy that was? Don’t know why you bozos have to make everything so complicated. And before you all start screaming about how Austrailia negates Andy’s claim that EVERY ancient civilization celebrated the winter solstice, stop being so damn literal. It should be understood (common knowledge) that there are exceptions to almost everything, even if every thing has no exceptions. It’s not Andy’s fault if you cannot grasp this basic fact.

AND Canadian/USA indigenous who were here about 16,000 years.

Oh, and another thing you collective geniuses obviously missed in regards to Australia. It’s very subtle, so it is no wonder it flew right over your heads. Simply put, Australia doesn’t count.

  1. It is in the Southern Hemisphere.
  2. It is isolated from the Northern Hemisphere.
  3. It was not a civilized ancient civilization.

Therefore, the ancient Australian civilization is obviously not even a part of EVERY ancient civilization. In which case, Andy’s statement holds true that EVERY ancient civilization celebrated winter solstice. Now, please stop giving poor Andy such a hard time. He is only trying to expand your knowledge.

Edit: @Andy-Stout You can thank me later.

Done, safest bet I ever made.

I rests me case m’lud. flounces robes and sits * bounces back up* We seeks exemplary damages by way of an apology for that heinous phrase :
"Every ancient civilization worshiped the sun as a sun-god." Not only has it been proven false but the slurs cast on the Australian continent and its outlier neighbour Kiwiland by this “stout” fellow is insupportable. flounces robes and sits to cheers of public gallery

(yells of “he’s a nob” “what does he know?” “flamin galah” are silenced by the judge)

“I swear on my granny’s eyes Judge, I never meant to say every.”

“Thank you, if you could address remarks to council, and I think the standard oath will suffice.”

And he completely misses the hypocrisy. What a dweeb!

You are absolutely correct, White! Yay! One of you FINALLY understands. It’s about damn time, too, I might add. Just like Andy suggested, the whole world indeed DID NOT revolve around Australia, thereby making Austrailia irrelevant to the rest of the ancient civilizations. It was simply too far south and too damn isolated. Therefore, EVERY SINGLE DAMN ONE of the ancient civilizations worshiped the sun as a god and celebrated winter solstice. Who cares whether ancient Australians did or not? It doesn’t matter, because it was as if the ancient Australian civilization didn’t even exist. I’m so happy to see somebody else here is finally catching on.

(Edit for boomerangs.)

ahem, apparently the ancient Japanese ceremony of “Toji” is celebrated at the winter solstice but has nothing to do with a sun god. So it seems the Japanese are also saying “fuck you dweeb” to Andy Stout’s imbecilic hyperbole…

Oh yea, But except for the Australians, the Japanese, and places around the world where there are no winters, winter solstice was celebrated worldwide.
