She genuinely does not have an opinion, David. She does not have one. Her brain is so full of shit that she can not see the world around her. She is not very smart and all of her opinions have been wrong throughout her life. She has learned to speak in amorphous meaningless drivel to avoid all conflicts and confrontations. She is a friend to everyone and the birdies too. How could anyone dislike her? Her entire goal in life is to love and be loved. In this, she is fulfilled. She will bend over backward to please others and does not even realize her hypocrisy when moving from one place to the next or from one group of friends to the next. She is the very definition of the wishy-washy personality. She just wants to be liked. In this, she becomes one of the most repulsive characters on the planet. As worthless as wet tissue conforming to anything it touches. Ripping itself apart with each new application. It’s a sad thing watching her flounder so.

I believe in God.
I believe in God because I have experienced things that have caused me to.
just as you have had your own personal experiences that have caused you not to.
I believe in a historical Jesus. I have found there is more reasons to believe in a historical Jesus than to disbelieve in him.
But even if I didn’t, I agree with the doctrine. The greatest commandment is to love one another as much as we do ourselves. I think that is amazing, on it’s own–but to find out on this very forum that it is a nearly universal code found in every ideology worldwide, religious and irreligious alike is phenomenal.
That is what I believe and why, said yet another way. Perhaps, this will be more acceptable to you. Perhaps, not. We’ll have to wait and see.
So is eating. Phenomenal.
Who woulda thunk it that social animals have a “code” of love (again not defined).
Personally, most folks have no idea how to love themselves. They bask in self loathing, insecurity and destructive behaviours. I would prefer they loved me as I love myself.

I’m not sure that I would consider eating a code.
You are right though, many people do not know how to love themselves. They bask in self loathing, insecurity and destructive behaviors.
A more balanced person who had a greater understanding of how to love themselves would in essence be teaching that love when they exhibited it.
Perhaps, that sounds like work to some and that is why it doesn’t happen as it should.
So, you are saying you do not believe the bible is true? Good grief. Make up your mind…

I have laid out my own personal life story, and if there are parts you are not sure about, I am very willing to fill in the gaps.
Why? I understand you place great emphasis on love. I do appreciate that. But jesus is not required for love.
NO. The greatest commandment is number one of them all.
You shall have no other Gods before me.
But why specifically christianity and jesus? Why not other religions that place just as strong an emphasis on love? And some of them do not have a god that may demand you murder your child in blood sacrifice.
This is something you fail to comprehend, that the christian god and his son jesus have a dark side, they have done and are capable of genocide and murder. If I was seeking a religion that emphasis love, I could do a heck of a lot better than christianity.

@Tin-Man I have already explained so many times that I regard the Bible as man’s approach to the concept of God.
I don’t know how to get past what you were raised believing.
By the way: I think it is entirely crazy, but I have been going week by week sort of writing bible stories as I perceive them as an adult, much like I did with Samson. This week just happened to be the particular story that you cited.

As usual, we have Tia providing us with another of her patented methods of dodging the question. And today she has used a textbook example of “Cherry Picking”. As she has repeatedly displayed over and over in a reduntantly repetitive manner, Tia only recognizes the goody-goody feels-so-good-and-right lovey-dovey parts of the bible that give her a warm fuzzy feeling in her belly… No, wait… Her heart?.. Uh, her va-… Oh, nevermind where. She simply feeeeels all warm and fuzzy inside. However, God forbid(s) you should mention anything in the bible referring to her God’s sadistic, genocidal, narcissistic personality. Because Tia does not recognize those parts of the bible as being true. She blames MAN for causing those errors in God’s perfect book. (Errors that her All-powerful Perfect God was apparently unable to correct.)

I think the misunderstanding is that I DO appreciate other religions. Other religions have helped me to see how interconnected everything is. I do, however believe in the doctrine of Jesus. I asked you once if that made me a Christian. You responded that it did.

I do not find that the “Christian God” or his son Jesus have a dark side. The dark side belongs to man’s ability to follow the rules.

None of the atrocities of humanity would endure if this rule was employed with accuracy.
I asked about y’all’s take on other religions…because that same “God” is there also. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. You can know this by that greatest and enduring commandment, that Jesus highlighted for all.
I opened with Islam, but I received the answer that it was varying forms of shit. I figured we already have our hands full with Christianity, and here we are.
I don’t believe god is real. That is why I don’t think he tortures infants. But what I’m sure of: is according to the Bible; god is responsible for EVERYTHING (and goes out of its way to re-enforce the idea that god is responsible for the evils of the world). It is very clear on the matter. Infants are being tortured, if the bible is accurate, god is responsible.

I think it is worth restating how incredibly lacking Tia is in Reading Comprehension skills. Something else I’ve noticed, too. She also seems to be hopelessly Irony Impaired. Almost feel sorry for her. Must be daunting going through life with such inhibiting deficiencies.

The other irony is that theists tend to be capable of identifying villains in other forms of fiction, books and film, yet quite ignorantly incapable of perceiving the biblical god as an evil dude simply by applying critical thinking processes.

Don’t be silly. The answer to that is obvious. The little children did not, or could not, pray enough to god to stop the person/people raping them. (Especially if their mouths were covered.) Average Dumbfuck Joe, on the other hand, prays LOUDLY AND EARNESTLY for god to help find his keys. Because Joe is late leaving his girlfriend’s house, and he has to get home to his wife and kids as quickly as possible.
