If I'm wrong ! are you right

Pascal’s Wager again.

So, here goes:

  1. Why should I apply this thinking to God and/or Jesus Christ? Why not other gods like Thor, Zeus, Osiris, Vishnu, or Brahma?

  2. If I take this wager seriously, then which Christian sect do I pick? With only a few exceptions, every Christian sect says the other sects have it wrong and everyone else is destined to burn in Hell. So, if I become Christian tomorrow, I will probably end up in Hell anyway because I will almost certainly pick the wrong form of Christianity.

  3. Religion as a form of hedging one’s bets out of fear of the afterlife doesn’t seem very sincere, and I would think that God (with the resources to create the Universe) would know that I’m hedging my bets . . . so religion from Pasqal’s Wager is essentially meaningless anyway.

  4. Pasqual’s Wager could just as easily be applied in reverse: If God doesn’t exist and I don’t believe, then I have to make the most out of this life and take the only avenue of immortality open to me . . . which is to leave the world a better place than how I found it, and live on in memory of all the good I did.

And so on.

Pasqal’s Wager is nothing more than a sadistic, empty threat to enforce spiritual compliance.

I hope you respond.

Oh this is going to be FUN …

Several demolitions thereof have already been provided by others, before I turned up. Did you READ any of them?

I’m not a gambling person, so your above apologetics fail to be applicable to me. So already, your arrogant puppy act is crashing and burning.

What your think you know, and what you actually know, have already been demonstrated to be separated by a vast canyon.

Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy seeing you fail to understand basic probability, along with all the other topics you fail to understand.

Being castigated with respect to honesty by a proven reprobate like you, is deliciously ironic.

This is exactly the blind assertion you have FAILED to provide even an atom of genuine evidence for. As I stated above, “My favourite goat herder mythology says so” isn’t “evidence” for your cartoon magic man, it’s evidence for the propensity of its piss-stained nomad authors to make shit up. Such as the made up shit I provided as an example above, that destroys the provenance of your goat herder mythology as a purported source of “knowledge”. Genetics isn’t controlled by coloured sticks, dolt, and FACTS such as this are NOT going away, just because you want to indulge in infantile wank fantasising.

That you have one is demonstrably more presumption on your part.

But apparently, the ONE thing that fails to materialise in the kapok in your head, is the TOTAL FAILURE of mythology fanboys like you, to provide even an atom of evidence for your “god”.

Bollocks. The REAL battle is between a preference for REALITY, and a preference for made up mythological shit of the sort you cling to. Looks like the only naivety on display here is yours.

More bullshit sanctimonious panhandling. Going to learn at some point in your life how worthless this is, in any properly constructed arena of discourse?

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Some of those enemies are visible even to the blind right now, one of them being orange. Do keep demonstrating your inadequacies.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer had an answer for that one - stupidity.

Oh, and if you want to shoot your mouth off about ethics, bring it on. I’ll enjoy immolating your garbage if you do.

Funny how so much human suffering, misery and preventable agonising death, has been caused directly by idiot mythology fanboys like you.

Your imaginary cartoon magic man in the sky can go fuck itself with a razor wire dildo. As can your unwanted and asinine sanctimonious panhandling.

If even a fool can understand this, what’s your problem?

Once again, your unwanted sanctimonious panhandling dies at the feet of the fact, that you and your ilk have had over 2,000 years to provide even an atom of genuine evidence for your cartoon magic man in the sky, and have FAILED DISMALLY to deliver.

Just as your apologetics here have FAILED DISMALLY to support any of your infantile and cretinous religious wank fantasies.

Unsupported blind assertion that can be tossed into the bin. Next?

Another unsupported blind assertion that can be tossed into the bin. At least you’re consistent with this pattern.

That we stand more chance of winning the lottery, than seeing your fairy tale come true, is the one reasonable statement you’ve posted here to date.

Bullshit.

Item one: your worthless goat herder mythology was disqualified from being considered “wisdom”, when its piss-stained authors included within its pages, that excremental drivel about genetics being controlled by coloured sticks.

Item two: the laws of physics are laughing at you. As described in exquisite detail by millions of man hours of diligent labour by honest scientists.

Some time ago, I posted this little note about the sort of individuals who come here posting in the same style as you. I suspect this may very well apply to you, because your tedious rants bear the requisite hallmarks. Here’s a clue for you: repeatedly parroting your favourite pieces of mythological bullshit, merely makes the grown ups point and laugh.

You might think you’re impressing some similarly brain dead teenage girl from your “Bible study” group with your noxious histrionics, but I can tell you right now that [1] if she’s stupid enough to believe you’re anything other than a micro-dick inadequate with an empty cranium to match, it’ll be your “youth pastor” who gets into her knickers first, not you, and [2] if she does have any functioning brain cells, and she reads the wholesale demolitions of your collapsed apologetic souffles here, you’ll again fail to get into her knickers.

Thanks to the fact that I was dealing with dilettantes like you before your sperm met your egg, and advancing years have led to a certain detached serenity from issues connected to wick dipping, I don’t need to waste time trying to impress anyone, be it for sexual purposes or ego fluffing, because I learned a long time ago that this was a waste of time and effort. What isn’t a waste of time and effort, however, is ensuring that the wider audience is properly informed, that garbage of the sort you peddle here does not pass unchallenged, and that relevant FACTS are provided as a counter to your made up shit.

Which, you need to learn quickly, is where your made up shit will ALWAYS fail, because NONE of it has any connection to verifiable fact. Just because you think that your sad little goat herder mythology constitutes fact, doesn’t mean it is, and that cretinous bilge about genetics being controlled by coloured sticks continues to haunt you in this regard. One day you might wake up to this, and how you’ve wasted your time on this nonsense, but until then, all you will succeed in doing, is making yourself look like the fool here.

Indeed, one of the aspects of the mythology fanboy aetiology, that provides much dark amusement, is the manner in which so many of you line yourselves up before a global public audience, and parade both your wilful ignorance and your duplicity before that audience, in a manner that leaves said audience wondering if you are all closet masochists. Once again, Bonhoeffer had a better answer - stupidity.

When you return, whatever you do, don’t make yourself the poster child for Saint Augustine of Hippo’s critique of your brand of stupidity, because that really will result in much laughter here.

That is Pascal’s wager, as is your OP, here:

You opened with Pascal’s wager, and have repeated it endlessly. The moderators have finally tired of your dishonest deflection and repetition, but you never offered anything else, a plagiarised version of a flawed argument, and you were unwilling to debate those flaws or even acknowledge them.

Deflection and repetition are common tactics by many religious apologists, and they’re also irrational of course, that it is to say, they represent poorly reasoned arguments, a version of argumentum add nauseum. NB repetition can be justified to return the debate to the point, if it does not ignore objections, and is supported by evidence, but evidence is used here to describe unevidenced subjective claims and beliefs, it’s pure rhetoric.

What this poster needs is a soap box, a pulpit or a revival tent, and a suggestible if not complicit audience, that will appreciate his rhetoric, and not care about the dearth of objective evidence for it.

Listen to yourself.

I asked for valid hard evidence and your answer is “YouTube”. That is no different than someone saying “Google is your friend”.

You are the one who came on here with the rosy idea that you were going to convert and tell Atheists to follow the yellow brick road. Yet you failed to bring any evidence to the table.

Religion sells itself through fear and despair. And when people are no longer afraid of your religion and have concluded that it is a mythology, well… then you have nothing to sell to those people.

Religion is nothing more than a placebo drug and you’re it’s drug dealer.

IDK, I think guys like this come here looking to have their persecution narrative fed. I “stood up for Jesus” and just because I “spoke the truth” i was banned. Boo-hoo. Poor me. I’m being persecuted just for believing in Jesus.

He said early on he would probably just be banned. As if it had happened before. As if he expected, wanted, even welcomed it. He’s probably back amongst his friends re-posting all the “mean” things we said to him, just a good and decent man “sharing” the Good News. Look how evil these persecutors are! What will become of us if their “agenda” is ever enacted? Cue the moral panic! And … and … and look at how they CURSED while rejecting me? Woe is me, for I am rejected and despised of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief …

Sometimes I think we aren’t doing ourselves any favors entertaining these clowns – we are just feeding their confirmation bias. Then I remind myself of the countless people that read these threads without participating … people who are questioning things, who get to see that theist arguments don’t hold up to anything resembling a decent evidentiary standard. That they literally have NOTHING but quotations from holy books and other bald assertions.

Exactly like mermaids then. You have to see the irony.

I suspect he just wanted to troll to be honest, but I’ve learned not to underestimate the power of delusion.

Yes, but we ought not to ever underestimate how powerful a drug….

Exactly, Mordant. Sure, it is really easy for us to get caught up in trying to “enlighten” the individual who comes on here with his/her hit-n-run tactics trying to (perhaps) gain bragging rights points from their fellow theists by “standing up to the big bad evil atheist heathens.” But like I have done many times over the years, there are some ridiculous nonsense I might respond to simply for the benefit of those members who come here to read/learn without actually participating in discussions. I have been known to even make the statement of, “I know (so-n-so) is not going to understand or listen to what I’m about to write, but this is meant primarily for those who read the threads, but never participate.” Good show, ol’ boy. Good show. :+1:

Time for the next Theist to come in. Lets see if they have a better sales pitch for the Kool-Aid that this guy tried to sell us.

That’s pretty much the entire raison d’être of forums like this - to demonstrate to lurkers and silent members of the audience, who are wondering whether or not to dip their toes in, that garbage is subjected to the discoursive ordnance it deserves. The lurkers who don’t want to be subject to sanctimonious panhandling by the usual entitlement-riddled pond dwellers, are probably grateful for our efforts, if silently.
