I will never understand it

The issue is, Stalin was not an atheist but the God head of a movement. Just as Kim, Jong-un is an atheist, he is also worshiped as a god. Replacing one god for another does not an atheist make. Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, were all created personality cults just like the current personality cult occurring in N. Korea.

SodaAnt as an Athiest myself I totally agree with you about Stalin. I was just coming up with examples of screwed up Christian logic thinking is saying “It is God’s Will that these bad things happened.” Silly Christians nonsense.

If it is not god’s will that bad things happen, then whose will is it? Obviously, you don’t know the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, god of life, the universe, and everything. The god who has counted the hairs on your head. (Luke 12:7). The god who has numbered your days (Job 14:5). The god from whose hand you can not be snatched. (John 10:28). The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. (Romans 8:16). Bad things don’t happen because god has a plan.

For those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28 rape, murder, incest, disease, and all manner of tragedy are simply evidence of the divine. You are in gods hands and their isn’t a fucking thing you can do about it.

The Lord of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand. – Isaiah 14:24

The steps of a man are established by the Lord when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand. – Psalm 37:23-24

Praise god for the little tests he gives us to endure. Heaven awaits. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord ,’ shall enter the kingdom of Heaven”, yet there are some who teach salvation by “faith only”, i.e. as long as someone believes, he/she will be saved. (Mathew 7:21) So if you are raped, murdered, butchered and torn limb from limb, cannibalized in front of your family, worry not, for god has sent that persecutor to you, and you will meet each other in heaven and laugh about the folly of your physical body and your silly life in this existence. Praise the Lord.

What the fuck does Joseph Stalin have to do with our niece’s medical condition? You sound like a fucking idiot.

Hey, Mr.Mac. Uh, just try to ignore DarkLoaf. We are dealing with him/her/it in other threads. You have more important things to worry about. Let us deal with whatever this yo-yo is trying to push. Hope that little lady is still doing okay, by the way.

They’ve determined that she has lost 90% of her vision, and that it’s not going to improve. Again, it’s all part of god’s plan for her.
I really fucking hate religion.

Welcome to Atheist Republic Alan.

I agree, rationally that position is nonsensical. How can one have any position on something they do not believe in?

But if you ask most atheists, it is not the actual god (which they do not believe in) but the practices and stories built around the god story.

I an a Canadian and presently there is (sigh, another) scandal involving the roman catholic church.

Personally, I acknowledge that religion and churches have done good. But one can not turn a blind eye to the horrors and criminal acts committed by the same institutions. Yes, there are individuals who have used their position of authority (gymnastic coaches, boy scouts, et.) to abuse others. But those institutions have also done wrong.

@AlanLuiz I think a lot of Christians have the misconception that Atheists are raging against their god. When actually, some of us are upset with the Christian religion and see what an abusive thing it is. You can’t hate something that you’ve concluded does not exist. But an atheist can hate religion for the damage that it’s responsible for. Yes.

I think Christianity is an immoral religion. The bible supports misogyny, slavery, homophobia, murdering people of other religions, murdering non believers, filicide, infanticide, incest, and genocide of anyone who is not of that religion. That’s not okay.

I had a strict Baptist upbringing. But I quit believing in it pretty quick because there was no admissible evidence for the existence of a deity presented. I don’t believe in any gods or goddess’. They’re fictional to me.

I felt like I was lied to and taken advantage of by the church system and it’s followers. They never proved the existence of a deity. They just wanted me to accept their god like it was a fact while giving no evidence for it’s existence. The burden of proof was not met for me to continue on as a Monotheist. If Christians want so badly for Atheists to believe in the existence of their god. They need to back it up with evidence. Otherwise, Atheists will continue to dismiss it. There’s nothing wrong with wanting objective evidence for god claims.

Welcome, Alan. Great to have you with us. And AMEN, brother! God is an asshole, and I get pissed at him the same way I get pissed at Santa every Christmas when he does not bring me the gifts I wanted. Oh, and don’t even get me started on how angry I am at the Easter Bunny for no longer bringing me a basket full of candy and toys on Easter morning. :triumph:

So don’t let these other guys and gals fool you. Sure, they may SAY they are not angry with god, but I can tell you they most certainly DO hold grudges against the great Odin. Or was it Zeus?..… Uh, wait, maybe it was Shiva? No, no, no. Um, I’m pretty sure it was Hermes. Was it?.. Dang it… Maybe it was Thor?.. Loki?.. Aw, shit, I can’t remember. Doesn’t matter, though. Just pick a god, and I’m pretty sure there’s an atheist SOMEWHERE who is probably pissed at that motherfucker.

Seriously, I’d love to hear some Christian logic on how it’s ok for them to hate other god(s), but not for others to hate their god.

The double standards of theists are so indefensible it boggles my mind.

This is interesting… In fact, I have never met a single Christian who was angry with Allah. I do not rule out that there may be such Christians, but this is not a general trend among Christians. Christians don’t believe in Allah, but I don’t see them getting mad at him.

@AlanLuiz You are missing the point. Atheists are not mad at any god, any anger is directed towards religion.

Religion is not god, religion is the practice of worshiping a god.

Never mind that the Christians and Muslims have been killing one another for centuries. LOL… Dude, your ignoance is showing.

I’m not angry with any gods. I simply don’t believe any of them exists. I was and still am sore towards my parents for forcing Christianity on to me. So you could say I have issues with the Christians I know in life, like my family members, and the ones that I meet that find out I’m an Atheist and are unable to accept it.

If you have talked to an Atheist who is “angry” with your “god”. They’re still a Theist. They’re acknowledging your god exists.

An Atheist doesn’t do that.

Someone who doesn’t believe in the existence of a deity can’t be mad at one. So that’s where Christians get the misconception that Atheists are are mad at god and that we “deny” him. You can’t deny something you truly don’t believe exists. If we believed in “god” and were denying him, we wouldn’t be Atheists.

Look at little kids who believe in Santa Claus. They get pissed when they don’t get presents. They blame him or wonder what they did wrong. But when we find out Santa Claus isn’t real. Are we angry at him when someone doesn’t buy us presents? No. You can’t blame something for your issues that you have concluded is non existent. It wouldn’t make sense.

The anger you see is aimed towards the church system and those who force their “God” beliefs onto others. It’s probably happened to you before by another denomination. 7th Day Adventists really don’t like Baptists and the Baptists really don’t like JW’s and Catholics. Each one claims their version of god is different than the other’s version. Each one calls the other a cult.

Okay. You’ve kind of answered your own question in a way. Let me turn that around for you.

Atheists don’t believe in god, but I don’t see them getting mad at him.

Most Christians I talk to claim the other gods like Odin, Allah, Zeus, Vishnu, Rah, & Thor don’t exist at all. In fact they claim they’re fictional. Christians aren’t “denying” those gods. They simply don’t believe in their existence.

Atheists just take it one god more than the Christians do. We see them as all fictional and non existent.

Just like after 9/11. I never met a Christian that slammed “Allah”, because they saw that god as an imaginary figure. They viewed the Islam as an immoral and bullshit religion, which it is because it promotes hate, stupidity, and terrorism.

But anyways. Christians and Muslims have been at each other’s throats since the Crusades. A majority of Christians look down on anyone who isn’t apart of their religion.

Exactly.

Wow… You catch on quick. (For those who aren’t familiar with me, that is called sarcasm.)

So, let me get this straight. Just wanna make sure I’m understanding your thought process correctly. Please correct me if I’m wrong…

You say you (as a Christian) do not believe in Allah or Zeus or Odin or any of the other thousands of gods worshiped by Mankind. Therefore, you say it would be silly to be angry at any of those gods in which you do not believe. Okay, cool. Makes perfect sense. YET…

For some odd reason, you decide to visit an atheist site in order to tell a group of atheists (Who, by definition, do not believe in ANY gods.) how we are angry at YOUR particular Christian god, even though we do not believe in it. Hmmmm…… Uh, having trouble wrapping my head around that. Ow… I think I just sprained my brain…:face_with_head_bandage:… Anybody got an aspirin?

(Oh, by the way, Allah and your Christian god are one-in-the-same, in case you didn’t get the memo.)
