I asked a christian site how would they react if their 16 year old daughter were to be impregnated by a psychic squid, it was funny when everyone called the Squid a pedophile

how old was the Virgin Mary when she got pregnant again?

she was 15. and joseph was 21

still, psycho squid is much older than both

the hypocrisy is unbelievable. Christians will go to the grave calling Epstein a monster while seeming to forget the age of Mary

The Sahih al-Bukhari records that the prophet Muhammad married Aisha when she was 6. Said marriage was consummated at when she reached 9. Muhammed was 53 at the time.

Social norms change. What was acceptable 1500 years ago is likely to be significantly admonished today. This is the challenge in interpreting history. You miss the contextual framework for events and actions. See Napoleon and Jefferson.

Interestingly, I’ve read that on average, girls reach menarche later 1500 years ago than they do today.
There is no evidence that Aisha had reached puberty at the age of nine. It is reported that she was still playing with dolls at that age.
Today, there are some Islamic countries with age restrictions for marriage (as high as 18yo) and some without any at all

Where I agree with this to a certain extent, it does not, imo, relieve perpetuators of many actions from being considered vile. For instance, I think there is never any time or situation where owning another human being is acceptable.

I agree. Incest, pedophilia and accordions all fall in the category of things without justification. Evidence suggests prehistoric man practiced infanticide. While abhorrent today, as a species we evolved with more successful biochemical barrier mechanisms to resist human neurotoxins found in our brains…so there’s that…

Cultural evolution is 10-100 times faster than biological evolution, so it seems unavoidable that societal perceptions make interpreting our past problematic.

At least 10-100X. I agree. The context that, for example, Judiasm used to confer adulthood upon children at age 12 it’s important to understand that was totally unremarkable at one time in history at least among some groups and it’s also important to recognize that we don’t want 12 year olds heading households in modern life. We can chew gum and walk at the same time. We can also understand other aspects of context, such as it was probably simpler in a simpler era and culture to take more adult responsibilities, and there were probably guardrails for them anyway. Things are a lot more complicated today, not least in that you generally need more education and expertise than you can cram into a human brain by age 12, to even begin to function as a fully fledged independent adult.

He’s a 79 year old who has had that many years of bad behavior reinforced by enablers.

When you look at it, it’s not as insane as it appears.

2000 years ago the average life expectancy was between 35-40. Granted, people lived longer than that in ancient times, but those were the odds the bookies were giving newborns at the time.

This would make a person 12 years old in those days approximately 30% though their expected lifespan.

Today, life expectancy ranges to around 72.6–73.2 years of age. 30% of that expected lifespan puts you at between 21.78-21.9 years of age.

Considering 18-21 is considered the age at which you reach adulthood in western civilization, it doesn’t seem all that odd. They might even be considered conservative by comparison.

The major reason the life expectancy average has increased is due to a drastic reduction in infant mortality.

“Drastic” might even be an understatement.

Some Catholic sources claim Joseph was 90

(search for “ninety” not “90”, it is in the “marriage” section)

Too bad we are rejecting vaccines. Probably will bounce of the bottom of the graph now [sigh].

a sizeable amount of the population is rejecting vaccines. not human society as a whole unless there’s concrete evidence supporting that we are all or the majority is heading that direction.

Yes by “we” I meant the official position of the US Government which is now identical to the ravings of Brainworm Bobby.

Enough of “us” are vaccine-resistant and have now been given permission to not vaccinate our children that we have an ongoing measles epidemic and are about to lose our status as having “eradicated” measles. Other preventable diseases such as whooping cough are also on the rise in the US.

At present vaccination is still voluntarily possible and available but in our for-profit healthcare “system” the inevitable result of withdraw of government support will be the tendency for insurance companies to stop paying for vaccines since they are “optional”. Which will lead to more people not getting vaccinated.

dont you dare take Tylenol either. it causes autism

I’m guessing that being mega rich tends to isolate people from many aspects of reality. Anyone remember Maria Carey telling an interviewer that she thought gas (the kind that heats your home) and electricity were free? She must have had people to pay those bills for her, just as Trump has people to say yes to him all the time, which is probably why his ego can’t take being told no, and he shouts fake news whenever facts don’t mesh with what he wants.
