Here … there’s this too!!!
I don’t disagree. I guess you are under the impression I believe evidence could surface someday. None has so far so I stay atheist.
Is that where that Koan went? Thanks Rattty. It’s been clinging on there for months and neither Tin nor Old Man told me about it.
Do you even know what Koan practice is? You tardy little fellow.
The ambition to improve your state of mind is part of the consciousness that attaches you to the world. Now you go and pretend you are meditating and seeking some alternate form of consciousness or enlightenment.
–and how much does this arcane knowledge cost?
Lol! Didn’t click, however, it’s a price too high!
–in the few years I was a practicing astrologer, I never once accepted money. I knew some professional astrologers who did. In the their defence (?) I will say they were true believers. Perhaps more dangerous than the blatant frauds.
Attention to the mind DOES NOT (as modern Vipasanna teachers like to think) imply noting the arising, persisting, and passing of each and every mundane, unimportant thought.
People begin this practice and becoming obsessed with noting. It’s because it’s easy to do and being good at it doesn’t MAKE YOU ANYTHING.
Satipathanna is the mindfulness of body; feelings; mind; and mental objects.
The mind can exist in various states. It can be mundane; joyous; tranquil; discerning; disenchanted; or released.
It is proper attention to these qualities that makes a person “mindful of the mind”. Not otherwise.
You’re like a Bonobo without a condom, Cog. You’re gunna make a mess everywhere you go.
Do i know the point of koan practice? Maybe I need to get slapped in the head by an old Japanese fellow
No. I don’t know what the point of emptying your mind until you reach non-duality and an extinguished ego.
I don’t see the point in pursuing that momentary type of awakening.
The path is gradual. It consists of faith; joy; rapture; tranquility; and bliss.
Bliss leads to concentration; insight knowledge; disenchantment; dispassion; release; knowledge of cessation.
These are the bench marks along the gradual path of meditation.

Changed my mind,. Was going to post about Zen koans, but have changed my mind. Too hard to explain.
Like a Zen koan. Well said, sir; well said.
You make a lot of claims about god creation and faith, but I only ask one thing, two actually. Can you actually back up your god beliefs with something solid which both physics and science can back up?
And which religion are you, Christianity or some other faith?
Please remember the universe is older than earth by like 9 billion plus years. We are only 4.5 billion years old, and humans are newer yet. Only by like 50,000 years or something.
Can you back up a deity with something solid?
Can you show me a mind? When you assert “exist” WTF are you talking about. The brain has a function that we call mind. How does the function exist apart from the brain? It’s a bit like the hands have a function we call grasping. How does that make grasping existent outside of the hand?
Ha HA HA HA HA HA HA … Where is this ‘you’ that is a part of duality in a non-duality frame of reference. WTF are you talking about ratty tat tat?
It is almost like someone doesn’t know what duality means in this context; but insists on using it anyway.
Bliss leads to no such thing ratty my boy. Asserting it does not make it so. You may as well cite, "Life’s struggles lead to insight, knowledge. disenchantment, dispassion, release, and knowledge or cessation.
I assert that this position is much more defensible. Thesis, antithesis, synthases - a cornerstone of knowledge.
Have never tried cocaine? Or had a wank?
@rat_spit
What do you do when you have freed yourself from all desire but for the desire to be free of all desire?
Don’t just do something, sit there and observe your mind.
Thanks for nothing. Not thinking of you.

Why do I have to show you a mind? I agree with you. It’s a function of the brain. IMO it’s an extension of the brain.
It’s debatable whether the brain and the mind map one to one. Ie. every nervous impulse is integral to the unified experience of “mind”.
The mind can take various shapes and forms. Get high on crack, and I’m sure you’ll see what I mean.
Do a little joyful uplifting and you’ll get another “state” of mind - one that is not drug induced.
Run for five kilometres. Get a runners high.
I don’t see where your objection is coming from, monkey man.
Hisss - I know Who You’re talking about!!!
Have you ever experienced jhanic bliss? If you haven’t, then I suggest that you haven’t a single fathoming of my meaning.
No. I made a conscious decision as a young man NOT to try cocaine.
But I abuse alcohol regularly to the point where I can no longer feel my body.
This is a drug induced state of altered consciousness.
I am suggesting that we NOT rely on drugs or alcohol to induce altered states of consciousness; and that, rather, we use the faculty of faith to begin the chain reaction known as jhana.
