WHY??? The two don’t necessarily go together. You still might just be dead. God might not give a shit no more than he plans on giving answers to the dolphins or ants …
I am not claiming there is a god, I am stating that I have not ruled out a god.
I suggest you examine the “Black Swan Fallacy” to understand my position.
its mentioned the same way in quran book too with a little difference. that earth and everything else is created in days. there is a lot of stories that doesn’t make any sense for me.
there is no educational prove in holy books about everything that is exist in our universe, its just mentioning nature in repetitive way. which means maybe nature create itself accidently.
Can we agree that the Quran has errors and contradictions?
Thus, that book, no matter how revered, is not 100% true or reliable. The next step is to separate the truth (and there is a lot in the Quran) from the fantasy nonsense.
But as you are aware from your personal experience, if you attempt this with one of your religious teachers, they will attempt to dispel all contradictions and invent wild tales to support the nonsense. So their input is not reliable or to be trusted.
And that gets us to the big question: how do we find the truth? What mechanism or method is the most effective in finding the truth?
Science, because it is a methodology that has proven to be the most reliable and effective tool.
Science does not have a goal or agenda, it just follows the evidence and attempts to offer the best explanation for a phenomena.
okay, I got your point and I liked the theory.
yes quran has a lot of errors and contradictions.
I am relying on science that’s how I find out the truth beside my personal experience.
in my community, whenever I have tried to ask questions based on science evidence, they will simply reply that ’ its forbidden’ and the religious book is more truthful than science. its sinful in Islam to read another holy books too, I guess they put this rule in order not to find out the truth, myths and lies which are in quran.
What has god done to save children from cancer?
What has science done to save children from cancer?
Every theist needs to answer these questions honestly and give credit where credit’s due.
Well considering that Cannabis is suppose to be a good treatment some Christians might say that god is trying to help. I just think it’s a natural herb that can help to cure cancer, nothing more.
I haven’t heard that cannabis cures cancer, but it is believed to reduce the nausea that some people experience during chemotherapy. However, sucking any kind of smoke into your lungs is probably a bad idea.
What on earth does that have to do with reality? Sorry, made that’s a basic argument from ignorance. That I lack the knowledge, imagination or wit to understand or accept a thing does not necessarily make it untrue.
Life is long enough? Oh for fuck sake! May I ask how old you are? I think it may be relevant.
I’m 72. Life if up to now seems to have lasted a matter of months. These day another years passes in what used to feel like a few months**
With a bit of luck, I may live another 10 years before losing my marbles,as the men in my family usually do. In the meantime, I savour every day and will “not go gentle into that good night”***.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((9))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
**there’s psychological explanation about why time seems to go more quickly as we age.
*** The poem quoted in full below is by Dylan Thomas and it expresses my feelings very well.
“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”
― Dylan Thomas, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
Why thanks
That’s you error right there. You make time depend on matter instead of the other way round. It is the argument equally posed when a tree falls in a forest.
Surely that “VERY tiny object (smaller than an atom) that contained immense energy” must have existed at a time, lets say t=0 when it went bang. But are you suggesting it did not exist, as very tiny as it might have been at t=-1 and t=-2 and so on backwards with the energy slowly building up over time until it big banged?
Its not like I was there when that tree silently fell but I think it would be odd if big bang did not come out of a prior existence that extended probably very far into the minus territory is what I think. I can’t get my head round how a thing that didn’t exist could have gone bang, I guess.
Personally, I measure time simply by change or movement. If there is movement/space there is change therefor time.
On a quantum or smaller still, string - level - if there is movement, there is “time” - and space allows movement/change. Should this “movement” cause an expansion - time itself moved or was brought forth with it, simultaneously… or it was always there…
Perhaps just an infinity of positive and negative cancelling one another out until “one missed” and BAM expansion
OR our universe is just the product of the remains of a farting black hole …
Who the fuck knows…

You have a definition for “soul?” Does it start with B and end in "shit?’
Yup.
There is zero evidence for a “soul”. It is an invented concept so the religious leaders could hold sway over the gullible, with the enticement of enjoying something after death, and the threat that their “loving” god still controlled them after death.
Invented? I’m not so sure about that.
I think it reasonable that the concept of ‘souls’ has its genesis in the shared experiences of dreaming. I have had dreams where I met and talked with deceased relatives, explored strange houses, in environments that had both classical and fantasy physics. Dreams are easily used to deceive people. Seeking the meaning of dreams is still a business today. It seems more than likely crafty people could manipulate others by insisting on interpretations that favoured their own agendas. Slip in the suggestion that the soul is the centre of dreams and with that we are well on the way to one driving power for the establishment of religions. The ‘soul’ didn’t have to be invented merely developed and abused from an experience that still can have profound affects on us all.
According to that no.
I trust leafly though as they are good with their information.
Way to move the goal posts, but this claim of yours below is an appeal to ignorance fallacy. You do this a lot, and make assertions of this sort.

I don’t understand you people with keep saying a god can also not be disproved, if there’s a god where’s the ghosts which would exist?
Here is another example of you using an argumentum ad ignorantiam fallacy, in the non-sequitur in your post below.

Then a soul would be able to be proved. As it is, there’s 0 evidence that consciousness can exist outside the brain. Therefore I see no reason to believe that it can not be disproven either.
In the assertion below your claim again is very sloppy, all you had to do was Google a fact like that, it took me a few seconds:
How long ago did modern humans evolve?
If you are talking about earlier hominids then be specific and get your facts right. You have a habit of making assertions in this fashion.

Humans have existed on earth what is it, 50 million years or something?
Now lastly we have yet another assertion from you, and of a broad god claim that as far as I am aware is unfalsifiable. What objective evidence can you demonstrate for your claim of knowledge here? Only I am an atheist and have never ever encountered any objective evidence for it, I withhold belief in any extant deity because there is also no objective evidence for that claim, and to me it is absurd to believe a claim I can know nothing about, and of course many religions have long claimed that their holy texts are the infallible word of an omniscient omnipotent deity, and this claim is falsifiable, and has been falsified many times.

All I know for sure is a god didn’t do it.

IMO a god or gods can not be proven or disproven.
What do you mean by “a god cannot be disproven” , when you have already said it cannot be proven in the first place?
