For most people, religious beliefs and their world view are accidents of birth.
Aristotle recognised this with his “Give me a child until until he is 7 and I will show you the man”
Most people absorb religious beliefs and beliefs about the world uncritically like little sponges. It is my observation that few people ever seriously question those beliefs. My evidence for this observation is the fact that only about 13% of the world population are atheists.
It is also my observation that people on atheist forums are atypical when compared with the broader community. Here in Oz people tend not to talk about their religious beliefs or the lack of them. It is considered rude here to ask unless one knows the person very well.
