After declaring them rabid dogs, the backhanded compliment seems hollow. It suggests that the 99.9% of Muslims who are not violent are the exception.
why the fuck would I want anyone to support a religion that wrote that non believers would be burned by their diety?
No, this is about you wanting me to support Islam
support your claim with evidence or I will dismiss you like I dismiss muslims and christians claiming their dieties exist
Pretty much every believer is a supporter (at least for the big 3 monotheist religions).
You go ahead and do that. ![]()
Couldn’t agree more.
pretty much but not rabid dogs themselves. some will try to be “moderate” but the violence is already written in their holy books. a lot just dont follow it
You’re putting up an awfully big fight over an insult that I layed out here. If you look over many of my posts from the 5 yrs I’ve been on here, I’ve insulted just about every religion there is on this forum.
then your baseless claims are dismissed. what you said about me and your attempt at dehumanizing a majority of a certain group of humans belongs to the same garbage bin as all god-claims made by religions (including the religions you claim you don’t like)
insulting baseless lies with other baseless lies makes you no different from religions hating other religions.
lies should be countered with facts, not other baseless lies
That’s a lie. Re-read my post. I said they were behaving like rabid dogs. I didn’t say they were rabid dogs.
Look man, if you don’t like that I’m an asshole and insult religion just for the fun of it. You are more than welcome to place me on ignore. I won’t lose an ounce of sleep over it.
there it is again, you said majority. I know what a comparison is and the words they come from and typically used in context.
rabid dogs = directly violent.
behave like rabid dogs = behave like they are directly violent.
directly violent = attacking someone in a way that damages something significant, mostly physically
Majority = over 50%
over 50% behave like they want to damage you, possibly physically? their books threaten you, it’s written there. But books are not people. Maybe a FEW preachers here and there would talk about hellfire, but over 50%? do you think a muslim would most likely threaten you with horrible suffering unless you provoked them to? A muslim would most likely “pity” you for not believing their delusions.
people like you just show you are no better than the religions you criticize
I know what I said. I didn’t deny it.
Yeah, I agree with you there.
Thanks?
I’ll just end this conversation. I have realized I am not talking to someone who anchors their claims with reality. You sound like you belong in the same group as the deluded bible-quran-torah thumping liars.
atheist people like you are the reason that religious people like my dad think atheists are baseless and delusional.
That’s a pretty broad brush of negative reciprocity…
Yeah I would say that Episcopalian bishop in NH who told his priests to put their affairs in order and stand between ICE and those they are attacking even if it costs them their life is no “rabid dog”.
I would say the current Pope is no “rabid dog”.
I would say that even the occasional Christian fundie can’t be characterized that way. My late / prior wife’s aunt & uncle (members of a very conservative rural Methodist church that nearly split from the denomination when it appointed a (gasp) woman as their pastor) spent their whole retirement helping the elderly, sick and disabled in their community without conditions and regardless of their religious (non)affiliation – out of their own pockets.
Sometimes people can be decent human beings in spite of their religious faith.
Freud coined the term “Narcissism of Minor Differences”. Basically, it asserts that humans share 99.9% of common needs for survival. The focus shifts to the 0.1% difference in order to confirm and establish individual or group identity.
My two cents…one person claiming adherence to what they call (insert name of religion here) does not perfectly represent the entirety of people claiming adherence to it.
It appears to me that most folks who claim adherence to a religion that has a holy book actively cherry pick from it. IMO, that’s a good thing.
My biological father and his wife were members of a Presbyterian Church. The people there were not assholes like the ones at my mom’s Baptist Church were.
They had a woman named Reverend. She was nice. Hell, even the youth activities weren’t consumed with prayer & apologist activities. We went to amusement parks and ate out. Most of the kids didn’t bring up God or religion unless one of the adult members asked us about it.
So I don’t hate Christians, they can be very cool people. But there are people who make their entire personalities about it and I think that can be obnoxious.
When I first came here, my past posts were of me hating on Christians and @Tin-Man gave me a lot to think about.
I was an angry Atheist out for blood because I was dealing with religious issues with my family. Which they have long laid off. Been in therapy and really trying to change my views that religion doesn’t always define a person.
If you believe the Bible is the word of god/the truth, you support violence on a monstrous scale. Same for the Quran. If you don’t believe it is the word of god, but go around telling people it is…well that is even worse imo.
