@CyberLN The whole universe the extent of which science cannot figure out and the Unseen world that controls this physical world is the proof the Creator exists.
Our creator has not given us the ability to know him with the tools you have (logic, senses etc). Do your best, keep using these tools it’ll take you no where. Its like you keep hitting the wall everytime you want to make progress in this domain.
Seeing as you’re not here to prove your god claims, I feel like you’re just here to preach & proselytize about Islam. To be fair, if I had any interest in your religion I would order a Quran and make it a priority. However I’m not interested because I concluded your religion is no different than the others. All myth & no substance.
No system is immune to fraud, corruption, greed, cheating, and illegal activities from determined participants. Also so-called “moral” religious people and/or organisations engage in this kind of behaviour, despite their claim in being so morally elevated over non-believers. At least science and the scientific community is interested in actually correcting this whenever it is discovered, in contrast to certain immoral religious churches and organisations that live and thrive on greed, deceit, fear mongering, covering up with no shame sexual assaults from their pedophilic priests (and much more).
Besides, that some scientists cheat does not invalidate the scientific model.
What do you mean by “intuition”? There is scientific intuition, which can bring a researcher on to a fruitful track using scientifc intuition. This kind of intuition is not special for science, but you have it in all trades where you learn to sense what is good practice as you learn the field - a builder has a certain intuition on how to build e.g. a house, an artist can have a certain intuition on how to make great art, a writer can have an intuition on what makes a great plot, a nurse may have a certain intuition on what a patient needs, etc.
But you cannot prove anything with intuition. You can get ideas from it, and have intuition guide you through the process, but to do it rigorously, you have to use the scientific method.
Keep looking for what? There is nothing else. I’ve concluded that gods are as real as fairies, vampires, flying pigs, the Easter Bunny, & leprechauns. I’m quite content with Atheism.
There are a number of things I don’t understand. So, are you saying the LACK of evidence is proof of god? I believe you said something about the nature and attributes of god are NOT given in the Koran? He is different from anything the human mind can imagine?
So, how exactly did the Koran come into being? Human words are produced by physical anatomy, mouth, tongue, teeth, lungs, vocal cords etc… How did these words get presented to a person on earth, to listen to them? I believe this was by the angel Gabriel?
He must have had some form, and attributes to be able to produce words. So, how exactly does a message come from god, through this means, without getting distorted? Also, the book itself must generate on some level some mental imagery. How does this inform about a being who has no image, no anatomy, or attributes? (at least none that can be related to what we are familiar with)
I find it very strange, a book that doesn’t inform anything about the author, but instead just gives a list of things to do, not do, things to avoid, a list of things that are ok etc… Have you ever given thought to this?
@MrDawn I take your words for it. We have two options right either God exists or not:
If God exists and there’s afterlife and we live our lives as atheists - we’re responsible for what happens after we die for eternity.
If God doesn’t exist and there’s no afterlife then being an atheist make sense.
3.If he exists and there’s afterlife and we live our lives as a believer in God you’re all set for eternity.
If God doesn’t exist and there’s no afterlife then being a believer in God won’t hurt me.
Its a win-win if you’re a believer in either case but being an atheist has a huge risk.
I can’t really buy that automatically. What concept of god is being advanced, and what are the requirements/demands of that belief? Is this even testable? Can you live your life as a believer with god, live a life as a disbeliever with god, live a life as a disbeliever without a god…and then compare the outcomes?
Who knows what is the actual impact of having a belief in god? Or the impact of living in an entire society which does not have a belief in god,(also no prior history of belief in god) To my knowledge, there is not an entire society of disbelievers, and also without any prior history of belief…
@nonselcei good questions.
Yes God is unlike anything which leaves us only one option in this material world to know him through his creations. Like a canvas would never know who the painter is, we’re a canvas he’s the painter.
Yes, Quran was revealed from Angel Gabriel and also via direct revelation to prophet Muhammad at various times. The first revelation was for him to just read/ recite. He was dictated the words of Quran like we ask someone to write a letter/ essay. He memorized those words as is and then recited back to his companions who in turn memorized those. It went on for 23 years. Prophet Muhammad did see Angel Gabriel in his original revealed form and at times a human shape was taken up by the angel as well.
Quran shows vivid imagery of state of affairs of Paradise and Hellfire. For God precisely it has arguments of knowing him by his creations around us. And details on how Creator is unlike the creations. Then points on his attributes of what sets him apart from his creations who are dependent beings.
Threats of hell do not scare me. You seem to treat Atheists as though we secretly believe and are just being stubborn. That’s not the case. I am not afraid of Hell because I don’t believe it exists. It’s just another myth fairy tale to me.
@MrDawn we’re creations who are designed to understand carrots and sticks.
For some people fear is the main motivator for others is the rewards. I just only talk about the rewards for the vivid imagery of Paradise is something you don’t want to miss out on. Paradise is something no eye has seen, no ear has heard. One who enters it would be relieved of all the worries and stresses of life as if it never existed, much better than the high of substances people use here without any side effects. Every fruit will have a taste such that your first bite will be tastier but all the following bites will get better and better. You wish for something and it will be within your reach. In other words all peace and sanity for eternity and best to have the option to see God Almighty all the time.
I feel like my question, and comments didn’t quite translate to you very well. I know you are trying to explain, and answer as honestly as you can. Maybe I will have to understand Islam much better, to even know how to ask the question I am getting at.
All I can say is I don’t get it, at all. How a message from Allah can arrive to a human, and not become distorted via human understanding, and human needs. Even the rewards or punishments are all based on human desires, or fears but perhaps magnified and prolonged. Meanwhile, one will never really understand god, or comprehend him? is that what you are saying? This seems rather unsatisfying. I would imagine also for god, if there was one.
On the comparision to a piece of art. I can appreciate that, but my perception of the art might change, if I ever had an interaction with the artist. It sounds like even the Muslim prophet never had direct interaction with ‘god’, its filtered through an angel?
@nonselcei please bear with me I can’t just dump everything onto you, I have to give the context for readers too which possibly is seen as not a direct response to your questions.
