Can any theist answer this?

The Big Yellow Universe Creating Banana! At certain times of each month you can see it floating by through space but still outside the universe. It’s demonstrable to our senses.

You believe that the universe came into existence? Can things come into existence uncaused?

What do you mean? “Came into existence?” How does something come into existence? We know the universe formed from a singularity during the expansion known as the “Big Bang.” Is that what you are calling “coming into existence?”

The “Expansion of the Universe” is not a belief. It is a measurable, objective, observable phenomena. Belief is a human quality, in that, you either believe the actual evidence, or you do not. Belief is allocated by thinking beings to propositions. Rational beliefs are supported by evidence, logic and rational thought. The “Expansion of the Universe” is the best model we have at the moment and it both explains and predicts our direct observations.

Are you attempting to set forth a Cosmological Argument? You do understand that “Cosmology” has little or nothing to do with the Big Bang. If you are going to assert the stuff of the universe came from someplace, you will have to evidence your claim.

Your question is vague and ill formed.

Did the singularity come into existence? If the Big Bang occurred doesn’t that show that the universe is finite?

Pretty sure this has been covered;

Do I believe the universe/multiverse came into existence? Yes, I do. Was there then a cause? I don’t believe so, but cannot claim to know . Neither can anyone else,so far.

Claims of first cause and intelligent design are claims which have been thoroughly refuted over centuries.

Presuppositional apologists still insist on trotting out the same old chestnuts ,refuted claims for the existence of god… I just realise I often use the word ‘tedious’ to describe such people. I don’t know why… Probably because it’s pithy.

Guess I shouldn’t be surprised, such people tend to be anti reason, anti science and anti intellectual. Their beliefs and their claims are based on faith ***rather than facts or reasoned discussion.

Presuppositionalism is a school of Christian apologetics that believes the Christian faith is the only basis for rational thought. It presupposes that the Bible is divine revelation and attempts to expose flaws in other worldviews.

It claims that apart from presuppositions, one could not make sense of any human experience, and there can be no set of neutral assumptions from which to reason with a non-Christian.[1] Presuppositionalists claim that a Christian cannot consistently declare his belief in the necessary existence of the God of the Bible and simultaneously argue on the basis of a different set of assumptions that God may not exist and Biblical revelation may not be true.[2][ failed verification ] Two schools of presuppositionalism exist, based on the different teachings of Cornelius Van Til and Gordon Haddon Clark. Presuppositionalism contrasts with classical apologetics and evidential apologetics.

Presuppositionalists compare their presupposition against other ultimate standards such as reason, empirical experience, and subjective feeling, claiming presupposition in this context is:

a belief that takes precedence over another and therefore serves as a criterion for another. An ultimate presupposition is a belief over which no other takes precedence. For a Christian, the content of Scripture must serve as his ultimate presupposition… This doctrine is merely the outworking of the lordship of God in the area of human thought. It merely applies the doctrine of scriptural infallibility to the realm of knowing.[3]

Critics of presuppositional apologetics claim that it is logically invalid because it begs the question of the truth of Christianity and the non-truth of other worldviews.

If the universe came into existence it must have a cause. This is just simple logic. My believes are based on reason. Also, since the universe came into existence, it could have come from nothing, created itself, created by something created, or created by something uncreated.

No one knows. Science has not looked past Planck time.
Why would the Big Bang demonstrate a finite universe?

Are you asserting the universe is all there is? We know nothing of what may lie beyond our universe or what our universe may or may not be a part of. (Reference “Inflation Theory” and a possible field that has a positive-energy [false vacuum] that may or may not account for the expansion of the universe.(False vacuum - Wikipedia)

In short, people that matter are working on the issue and until they come up with something, no inane assertions made by theists on an atheist website are going to carry any weight at all.

Using your reasoning, has their ever been a time were something popped into existence without a cause?

Science details how the universe evolved from the point of Planck Time. This is the most plausible point from which it can be said the universe came into existence. Yes, it must have been caused by something before it, but it does not support the theist presupposition that there was absolutely nothing, a ‘void’, nor that the cause of the universe was a god.
I allow myself the same freedom theists allow themselves to speculate about their god but I maintain that the cause was more likely physical and might well have been preceded by an infinite amount of physical causes, despite the theoretical claims of theological philosophy.

So your agreeing with me that the universe has a cause?

Once again, no one knows. Things “pop” into existence all the time in quantum field theory. Whether they are “caused” or not is debatable. Why not go to an appropriate forum on a cosmology site? Your inquiry has nothing to do with Atheism, god or gods.

No. Nothing suggests anything of the sort has ever happened outside creation myths.
I know of nothing that comes into, or continues through, existence without a cause, including gods.

I agree with your answer.

Wow, you haven’t addressed anyone’s questions … you just retort with questions…

AND you obviously didn’t click on my link…

“the vacuum state is not truly empty but instead contains fleeting electromagnetic waves and particles that pop into and out of existence.“

The “big bang” is properly defined as rapid expansion, when the singularity expanded at a great rate. There are some propositions to describe what caused this rapid expansion, what triggered it. And none of those propositions involved a god or agent.

@Randomhuman123 The topic you are questioning is cosmology, and if you truly want to learn and investigate that scientific discipline, then there are vast amounts of information on the internet. This is an atheist forum.

But you claim that a god created this universe must be proven.

But the thing that popped into existence came from something else.

What do you understand by the term god?

Hahahaha.

Perhaps the quantum vacuum field is the “first cause”. As good as any “first causes” - at least there’s evidence…

Where’s yours?

BTW … outside time and space … does your god have movement?

I just explained to you the cause of the universe from a singularity. Are you dense or something? Are you simply trolling and asking the same stupid question over and over again.

THE UNIVERSE BEGAN FROM A SINGULARITY THAT EXPANDED. This IS the current model of the universe. If you have something different or know of something different the onus is on you to support your claim. The expansion of the universe from a singularity is documented and supported. If you are trying to talk about something else, it is up to you to be a bit more clear.

It is the entity theists attribute to having great power, wisdom, and the ability to do magic. It is an imaginary construct, with no relevance to this real universe.

To me, it is as real as leprechauns, universe farting pixies, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
