Buddhism - a religion for atheists

It seems every year is the year of the “woo woo” for you.

Why go homeless when you can just go mindless! Pretend you have reached some magical mental state where none of it matters. Ha ha ha ha ha ha … You have done nothing. Good camping gear won’t help.

Having no future is not stuck in the past… If you knew how to breath you would know that.

Exactly the way I would expect you to look at life. A clog preventing you form accessing what? Memory? Silly little ratty.

Silly little ratty, all you need do is set it all down and walk away. Nothing follows you. You have slipped into delusion once again. Imagining you are trapped in the bonds of cause and effect, you build your own prison cell one thought at a time. Poor poor ratty.

Oh do fuck off ratty, you know jack shit about me or how I meditate.

Straw man fallacy, you’ll never learn ratty.

Still lying ratty, show one post of mine where I made any mention of peer reviewed journals, let alone made the false claim you’re yet again dishonestly assigning to me.

Another lie, and this isn’t a known logical fallacy, so I’m smelling your usual BS here.

Everytime you post your ignorant irrational sententious drivel.

Oh you need no assistance from me on that quest.

Fallacy you cretin, and your claim is as hilarious as your spelling. Deny logic all you want, it tells us a great deal about your rationale.

Bat shit crazy, are you off your meds again? I’m glad to see you actually retracted that nonsense.

I know, it’s like kicking a puppy after a while…

Poor USA … very high in religitards… very low in reasoning ability…

Hahahahaha … you need to go further back, before 10 000 yrs
Some researchers say that early humans were regularly tending fires about 1.8 million years ago, but others say habitual use of fire didn’t begin until about 300,000 to 400,000 years ago, according to excavations showing concentrated ash and charcoal, sediments reddened by heat, rocks scarred by heat and burned bones, …

It’s pretty easy to bash flint and “fools gold” pyrite together. Normally found around creeks, rivers, lake areas - you know - fresh water. Did it when I was a kid…

I thank the Virologists themselves and the body of knowledge that has led us to this point in time.
The “body of knowledge” is so vast and specific that people need to specialize.

It’s like comparing your general physician :man_health_worker: to a heart surgeon :woman_health_worker:

Agreed Cog - there is nothing like the story one tells themselves of “what coulda/shoulda been” …

Better story ALWAYS than what “is”. You know why??? BECAUSE it’s BULLSHIT mind-candy fantasy time of how “great and unrecognized” or “how lovable and unappreciated” or whatever personal plot line one strings together…

IMO - bullshit.

WTF you arrogant dweeb! So anyone “smarter” than you OR makes more “money” than you is “haughty taughty”???

My middle one wants University and has his eye on a certain field. I have no fucking clue whether he’ll succeed in what he currently has his mind on… he may change his mind -
We’ve discussed what if he gets there and “hates” it - all sorts of shit.

You think you and your wife are the only ones in “survival” mode??? Sob story alert :rotating_light:. We’ve all been there. My dear mom has been in “poverty” her whole life (loves it, the attention, the victim-hood)…

You think myself or any others posting haven’t been poor, or struggled - or you think all University grads pull down the $$$$$ hahahahaha

Hahahahaha - SAYS you… hahahahaha -
You guys all have your “next life” to look forward to. The bible or Buddha keeps your heads up your asses - gives you a “feel good” sense of specialness (in a world where no one is special) - an ability to judge and categorize “others” …

I agree with this statement. My middle kid wrote an essay that I first posted when
I popped on this site. Hahahahaha except he understands what that statement means …

There is a method of getting to “what is true” in reality. It’s called the scientific method.

Right now, you are loosely under “peer review” and until, like Einstein, your claim can be backed up - you won’t be a rock star with the “key” to “truth”.

Thank you for the long reply Rat_spit.

But I do not accept long-winded explanations when I do the fundamental comparison. Such mental training and exercises are intended to provide a better mental state. Your pessimism and spite indicate they are ineffective.

It does not matter if such techniques are well understood, well supported, and work for millions. They are not working for you. Change your meds. Either change tracks, or get a supplement.

Here … something funny to take the edge off (it’s how to lighten up) …

For anyone who believes that @rat_spit is a Buddhist; I’ve got some great investment properties on the moon you might be interested in buying!

Full Agreement! and this post must be 20 characters long before it will allow me to post.

Intentional irony. Come on.

The Buddha was qualified to teach suffering and the end of suffering. That is why you should lend an ear. But, you have already dismissed it, so this is likely falling on deaf ears.

Sheldon . Qualified how exactly, what independent authority objectively validated these qualifications? Was his work peer reviewed, if so then offer a citation more robust than the gushing praise of his followers, as adherents of all religions make these exact same appeal to authority fallacies that you made in your original post.

Right there. I use the word “qualified” and you immediately squeal back with “by whom!!?” “by what???!!!”

Off the mark, Sheldo - we’re talking about existential suffering. To live is to qualify in any degree. Some suffer more than others - hence, some are more qualified to comment on the nature of it.

With you it’s like looking for your reflection in a puddle of vomit.

Missed the irony and resorted to Ad Hominem. Sad.

You misread me. I said “things were good for about 10,000 years and then Fire was discovered.”

I’m aware of the dates of fire discovery.

I think Thyroid hormone therapy would help. Been nice chatting with you, as always.

Have I claimed to be a Buddhist? Interesting conclusion …
