Interesting… There are apes in my bathroom.

Really? How wonderful.

All I have is Boris, a large huntsman who lives on the bathroom ceiling eating flies.

Really, Cog?..… You realize you are not fooling anybody with that phony ape suit, right?

Look out, he’s got a loaded banana.

Inane assertions with no supporting facts. I have already demonstrated the roots of Atheism are every bit as old as your Bibles, Old and New Testaments. Someone has always disbelieve. Get over it.

I mostly think that abortion is okay, except when it comes to things such as gender-specific aborticide (“I’m going to the doctor for an ultrasound to see if I’m having a girl or abortion,” - literal TERF, or the mass aborticide of girls in India), and stuff. Or when it’s based off of the child’s ability level (such as Down Syndrome).

My position is that a foetus is not a human being until it is viable ex utero. This generally accepted as the end of the second trimester.***

When an abortion is legally performed in my country, it is a medical decision and procedure between the patient and her doctor. It is not a moral decision.

The exceptions you’ve cited are irrelevant.

***The bible says life begins with the first breath:

7 Then the Lord God formed a man[a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (NIV)

I was just saying my point of view, that it’s mostly okay, except when it’s in cases of gender-specific abortion or Down-syndrome specific abortion. And now that you’ve given a specific time period for the life, I could also add that late-term abortions are also unethical. Also, there comes a point in time when a person’s rights stop at another’s. For example - fetal alcohol syndrome, caused by women who drink during pregnancy. Another example - and this is going to be similar, but slightly different - just because you’re a parent (not actually directed at you), doesn’t mean that you get to mutilate your child’s genitals. I hope that I’m being clear in my writing, as sometimes I can confuse people.

I need some clarification. Do you oppose or advocate for aborting Down specific fetuses.

Well, you can have your POV.

Sorta like the single person who gives parenting advice, or the “if it was my kid, I’d…”

When it’s your womb…it’s only the “business” of the woman and doctor.

Oppose aborting Down Syndrome fetuses.

I suppose you’re right. But there is a point in time when people cross the line, and that’s usually when they do it for hateful reasons. If I had heard about a fetus getting aborted because they would have been full or part black, I would also find that quite appalling.

Is that your opinion, or a fact?

Thank you very much for this concise reply.

I have a few friends who have Down’s, and in my eyes they have as much right to live as myself or anyone else.

It causes pain to the fetus, so a fact.

You’re welcome.

And I agree, they have just as much of a right to live as anyone else.

Did you know that families with Down Syndrome family members are happier than families without them?

If we assume you are correct, that it does cause pain to a fetus: how does that make it a fact that it is unethical? It seems like your bridge to this being a fact is missing at least a piece or two.

Or another way of putting it. It seems you are appealing to some assumption/fact that I am unaware of to reach your conclusion. Maybe you could address this missing piece.

How many more happies are they on average?

Oh my, I hope you can support that assertion. Did you include the many mothers and fathers who feel incredible guilt that their child did not develop as most? Of the change in lifestyle dealing with a person who requires additional support? Of the fact that a hundred years ago most Down’s were placed in instititions, hidden away from the eyes of society?
