Even if you go to ‘Heaven’ you’d still be in hell, immortality will always be a curse.
Heaven and hell essentially are the same thing in the long run, I don’t think this idea of God has any interest in enlightening us, more just wants us to suffer indefinitely.
Is there a slight chance … say sssoooooo ssooooo small that when we die, we get to the pearly gates, get escorted in and sit before “god”. There’s a beer in one hand and smoke/toke in the other and heaven is a ‘rockn.
The transgendered Being says “welcome”. And you’re like “huh” ( a bit confused because after all you’re dead) AND the being says -“ I know what you’re thinking - and yes, I inspired and “wrote” every one of the holy books from Scientology to Mormons to Koran, from Old to New AND included the biggest, shittiest stories with exaggerated untruths possible to see who actually used the one organ you were “gifted” with - YOU passed- have a blast”
Uhhhhh - where are the “others” ??? You ask, sniffing for smells of sulfar…
“LOL” Being replies…their own private “hell” -
church, gold benches, virgins and such (points to cloudy area with robot harp players) thanking “me” that they got “there”…
One last point … I’m of the opinion that if such a thing as sin exists (which in my opinion doesn’t exist, but for arguments sake ‘cause theists throw it around as a moral authority to avoid or make up for or sacrifice for etc)
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death …
When YOU die the price is paid. Paid in full. Hitler is in heaven and as a theist, who knows where he chose to “sit”…
non sense, god can make people feel what ever he wants. he can even terminate the time and space, and give you higher new desires that are light years better than the best one we have on earth what the hell do you know ?
i’m not answering your other questions, because they are just like this one.
what ever mistakes you do, it’s ok, just apologise, god can hear you, if you wrong some one, don’t you appologize ? it’s the same with god. if you keep apologizing you’re gonna get forgiven, if you don’t insist of course.
do your best and what ever you end up with, god will judge you according to it, god will never be unjust to anyone. that’s what i think and that’s what know.
This is an atheist forum. That means that the fatuous claims made by religions will be ridiculed. Respect is earned by both people and ideas. That we ridicule your beliefs is because they are unworthy of respect. That is not the same as insulting you personally.
Of course you may choose to take offence. That is your right. In a country with free speech, I have the right to offend. I understand that this right does not exist in Muslim countries generally. Even Australia has anti hate speech laws. I do not support those laws.
The right to offend is not understood by many as part of free speech.
Below is a clip with Rowan Atkinson, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Fry (my favourite public intellectual) They outline my views on free speech and explain why the right offend is important. In brief; without it, criticism or even disagreement can come to be included as insult. It’s a form of censorship I am unable to support. I strongly recommend the video.
The video explains why I believe I have the right to criticise or ridicule your beliefs or any beliefs which make unsupported claims .
What demonstrative evidence do you have that this is true, or that your God exists?
It seems pointless conjecture to discuss any further with this, unless you can prove that your God is any more real than any of the other God’s that humanity has created.
I don’t agree that we should take God’s existence on blind faith, this is an illogical concept.
I’d also like to say, what does any of this have to do with whether or not all religions could be considered cults or not.
your judgment is based on what ? what do you know about what i was talking about ?
what are your evidence that i’m biases or that we have the same methodes as other religions ? i didn’t see your evidences !! unbelievable !! just judging out of no where !!
I wouldn’t say Sheldon comment was useless, I found it insightful and you replied to it.
It was a rebuttal to a statement you made, because you either choose not to understand or didn’t understand his point, doesn’t bring into question the validity of the comments usefulness
Finally we agree Nogba: Sheldon’s comment was completely useless. You see, Sheldon generally assumes, be it from the kindness of his heart or his hope for the human condition, that people are actually interested in improving themselves, in learning new things, in growing and understanding the world around them.
Unfortunately; each and every time he runs across some lower life form whose only interest is wallowing in delusion, bless his heart, he tries. He tries to pull that person out of their delusional state of existence and into a better place. A place where rational thought and reality are free from the delusions of magical forces, demon influences, and invisible universe creating beings.
Alas, too often, his comments fall on deaf ears; the ears of people so filtered with religious dogma and woo woo that the world of reality can not enter in. It is a hard thing to witness, but yes, yes, we are in complete agreement; “Sheldon’s comments are completely useless.” when they are directed at you.
Our only real hope is that some reader out there in internet land, a reader who has not tripped and fallen so far down the rabbit hole of delusion, can glean some sense from the wisdom of Sheldon’s posts and begin pulling themselves out into the light of day. Yes, it’s obvious, it won’t be you. Still, there is hope for those around you. There is hope for anyone willing to open their ears and eyes to what is real in the world around them. That most certainly, will not be you.
