Why do they believe?

In case you’re unaware of this, we’ve had mythology fanboys peddling the same assertions you’re doing frequently in the past. Yet none of them exercised the elementary level of diligence required to discover if [1] said assertions had already been presented here, or [2] said assertions had already been refuted.

I’ve been seeing the same recycled pulp being served up by mythology fanboys in various places for 14 years. Wears a bit thin after that much repetition.

I’m very comforted at the thought of death, it means no more pain. Hell can/does exist here on earth, especially if you have to deal with chronic, never ending pain. Accordingly then(@HalleluYah), I’ve been in hell for 10 years now.

Hello K_L,
Thank you for your detail reply and explanation. Now, according to the Holy Bible, God nor His son Christ Jesus never instructed or commanded us to join a church or a religion. Also, Jesus nor the disciples, nor any of the prophets and servants of God in both the Old and New Testament were Christians, because they were all Hebrews/Jews, which were and are not Christians.

And, God, Jesus and all of His children (believers) are invited to be apart of God’s (Spiritual & Eternal) family. God doesn’t want us in a religion; He wants us to be in a relationship with Him and the rest of His spiritual family on earth and in coming Kingdom on earth.

What was Jesus; Abraham; Adam & Eve; Moses; King David; the Disciples; the Apostles (Paul, etc.) religion or spiritual faith/belief…were they Baptist (because some of them were baptized); were they Christians (because some of them followed Christ Jesus); were they Adventist (because they kept the 7th Day Sabbath); etc. No. they were not, because a relationship with God is not a religion.

And, just because people (or believers) go to church and profess a religious faith, doesn’t make them children or God and apart of God’s family and Jesus’ (Spiritual) church family.

And, the only reason why Jesus and his Disciples/Apostles were in the Synagogue every Sabbath Day, was because they were trying to share the Gospel and New Covenant of God with them, because they were all about religion; temple rituals; traditional and Old Testament works and sacrifices, which the Disciples and Apostles were all a part of until Jesus came and preached the truth and New Covenant to them. After which, they fellowshiped with each other in their houses/homes, by the seashores, on mountaintops, etc.

So, please don’t worry about choosing or being apart of the world’s man-made faith based organizations, because they are just a religion and not a relationship with God.

God via His Word (the Scriptures; Holy Bible and Christ Jesus His son) instructs and commands us to obey God–Yahweh-Hebrew; Jehovah-English (the/our Heavenly Father and Creator).

We are to read God’s Holy Word/the Bible; believe it; pray about it; live it; share the truth of it; and to stop sinning (knowingly and voluntarily, because we will always sin ignorantly, unknowingly and accidentally). We are to change our wrong, bad, and sinful ways to that which is Holy, right/righteous; good; and Christ like or Godly, just as Jesus (in the Bible) gave us an example of. This is why Jesus said…"Follow me", which is an invitation to become (an obedient) child- son or daughter of God and receive eternal life just as Jesus did or had accomplished.

But you must remember this important truth, which is it is God via His Holy Spirit who will call you or invite you to become apart of His spiritual and eternal family and by following Jesus (biblical Gospel messages and example) you will be prepped or prepared for God’s coming Kingdom on earth which will be eternal. In other words, if you are not willing to humble acknowledge and submit to God’s Will (biblically, spiritually, mentally and physically) as explained to you in the Holy Bible, then you cannot and will not be apart of God’s family and Christ’s church family. The bible clearly explains this in some of the Bible verses I have listed below. I hope this will be of help to you. You are in my prayers. May God help and bless you in every way that He knows best for you. Amen (so be it). HalleluYah (Praise God-Yahweh).

Bible (KJV or KJAV–King James Authorized Version) references:

  1. Exodus 20:1-17…“The Ten Commandments” of God.
  2. 1 John 5:3… “Keep the commandments”
  3. John 15:10.…“Jesus kept God’s commandments”
  4. John 14:15…“Jesus and God (his/our Heavenly Father) wants us to keep the commands”
  5. Numbers 15:27…“Ignorant sin”
  6. Leviticus 4:1-2, 22-23, 13-14, 27-28…“Sin of ignorance”
  7. Hebrew 10:26.… “Knowledge of sin”
  8. 1 John 3:1; Ephesians 2:19; Romans 8:16…"Family-children of God?
  9. John 6:44-45; Matthew 22:14…“We must be called by God”
  10. Matthew 6:9-13…"Pray-to The/our Heavenly Father (God and The Creator- Yahweh/Hebrew; Jehovah/English) in Jesus name.
  11. John 14:14, 15:16, 16:23 and 26…“Pray and ask in Jesus name”.
  12. Acts 17:2, 18:19; John 6:3, 7:14; Luke 4:31, 13:10; Acts 16:4-14…“Believers followshipping; preaching and teaching the Gospel in and outside of the Temple, Synagogues and houses”
  13. 2 Corinthians 1:1; 1 Corinthians 1:2, 3;17, 6:19, 14:23; Matthew 18:17; 1 Timothy 3:15; Colossians 3:15; Ephesians 5;23 and 25; John 2:21…“The Church; The Temple”
  14. Etc.

The Bible tells us that the family (children; sons; daughters; believers) of God can worship God and fellowship with God anywhere. Believers or not commanded or instructed to go to church, they are commanded and instructed to be “The Church” of God and Christ Jesus.

The Bible tells us a lot of things.

A major problem that I have with any religion is the concept of absolute truth. I grit my teeth when Christians try to convince me that homosexuality is wrong, or that women should be stay at home moms, and that it’s expected that children should be beaten.

It used to be considered morally wrong (from a Christian perspective) for a doctor to wash his hands before attending a woman in labor. The infection that women contracted from dirty hands was God’s punishment, as God decreed the Eve shall have her pains greatly multiplied in childbirth.

So . . . washing hands to prevent infection during labor was against God’s will.

How is it different today when Christians preach against homosexuality and gay marriage, for example?

I have volunteered at a church soup kitchen, only to watch tem turn away a hungry family (two children with two gay men) because of their “Biblical” values about homosexuality.

Other issues include the idea that I should protest against health care coverage for LGBTQ people, and that I should brainwash my children by indoctrinating them into Christianity . . . and not expose them to Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc…

Your Bible inspires hate much more often than love.

Why do you get to evoke the bible? Why do you think it is holy? Why not use The Holy Quaran, The Upanishads, The Bhagavad Gita, The Book of Mormon, The Torah, The Tanaka, The Tao Tae Ching, The Puranas, The Pali Canon, The Rig Veda, The Satanic Bible, Raëlism and the scientific cloning of Jesus

How did you debunk each of these religions? Who, by the way, used the exact same unsubstantiated claims to support their beliefs as you used to support yours?

First. Please stop referencing, “The Bible” There is no, ‘The Bible.’ There is a collection of books that varies from religion to religion. You must specify what religion you are and which bible you are using. Do you know how your specific anthology was constructed? You also need to cite the author, the date the book you are citing was written, and probably any other pertinent information. This way, we know you are not taking a quote out of context. Each of the books of the bible was written for specific audiences at specific times in history and for specific reasons. They each contain unique perspectives on the God character, Jesus, man’s relationships to the god, and more. Pretending you have a single book and that the book is somehow unified in a single message is pure ignorance.

This is a legitimate question.

If God exists . . . then where does God come from?

If God has always existed, then why not skip a step and decide that the Universe has always existed?

Or, if we decide that the origin of God is an unanswerable question . . . then why not skip a step and decide that the origin of the Universe is an unanswerable question? These questions are not mine, but were suggested by Carl Sagan.

I will add that if God exists . . . then He has taken such painstaking and meticulous effort to conceal all physical evidence of His existence, that we might reasonably assume that God doesn’t want us to believe in Him.

Why should this be so?

Maybe because He wants us to stand on our own two feet . . . rather like parents who send their children into adulthood, to sink or swim on their own resources.

Such an interpretation is at least as plausible as The Bible.

(+ a lot of other rubbish)

A piece of information and advice, in case you haven’t grasped it yet: The bound pieces of birdcage lining that you refer to as the Bible contains claims, not evidence/proof/truth. Therefore, for it to have any value at all, you first have to establish its authority as the word of a god. Which means that you have to prove its author is who you claim it to be. Which again essentially means you have to prove the existence of your god.

Summary: Prove the existence of your god and her authorship of the bible, and then you can use the bible as an argument. Otherwise, you’re spouting nonsense.

@HalleluYah

Can you demonstrate any objective evidence for any deity?

Ahem?

I answered your questions, you seem to be ignoring mine over and over?

I’m still new to this forum stuff (I learned about how to use the Internet late in life . . . so I’m clumsy). I wasn’t nasty or abrupt with him, I hope.

Did you maybe ban him? How does this work?

Yes, she was banned. Sometimes, conversations take place behind the curtain, so to speak, via PMs (private messages) with moderators. Sometimes, the refusal to adjust the behavior being addressed in those conversations results in the termination of a poster’s privileges.
