Whoo hoo! Is it enough?

Posted about this on the FAFO thread.

Fun fact: Heard Island and the McDonald Islands are home to two species of flea. Namely Notiopsylla kerguelensis, which is apparently a parasite of various seabirds, and Parapsyllus magellanicus heardi, about which little is known.

Both fleas were apparently known to Dame Miriam Rothschild, whose work on fleas remains one of the foremost contributions to the study thereof.

I suspect that if a third species of flea is found on the island, and proves to be new to science, it’ll end up being named after Trump, to commemorate this latest piece of Orange madness. It would be even more hilarious if said new species followed the precedent set by the moth Neopalpa donaldtrumpi, which the author named thus ā€œin reference to the yellow tufts of hair on the head, and the diminished genitaliaā€.

Anyone go to a protest in your area yesterday?

I went to one in a neighboring town with a population of 63,000. We had about 8,000 people turn it. It was great. I hope this trend continues and hope it has an effect.

That is commendable.
Any idea of how many Trump-voters joined?

I didn’t see anyone who was an obvious Trump voter, but I’m sure there were some.

Could not – had a tax appointment. But planning for the next one. We need about 12.5 M people on board to have the intended impact (3.5% of ~350M persons in the US; it’s said that >= 3.5% participation in a resistance movement invariably topples an authoritarian regime). Appears we hit about 5M on this first iteration. We need to grow it.
