It’s really a shame to see the fall from grace The US and UK are having, with the US now facing an ideological election, fronted by two unsavoury charachters.
Kamala Harris, appears completely inept and well, Trump is trump.
It’s no different in the UK, we had an election between Sunak and Starmer, which whilst it went in my favor (labour), it still felt like an idelogical battle over migration for the most part.
I’ve never felt more that politics is simply under the thumb of cooperate elites then working for the people, then i do right now.
Its truly tragic how far we have fallen.
Would Netanyahu need Trump to ask. He could quite safely assume that for a price Trump would do anything. Trump wanted Putin to hold the hostages and basically said it out loud but the deal went through anyway.
When all your relationships are transactional your friends are only your friends when you can do something for them. It could be that his “buds” have figured out that he hasn’t much to give anymore. Its a shallow existence your “dear leader” leads.
There are some good signs. Registration of young black women voters has increased 175% over the last presidential election while registration of young latina women voters was up by 125%. Not all would be voting for Harris but its reasonable to assume that the majority would. Also women influencers in Norway and Sweden have found their images have been jacked from Instagram and are appearing in Trump ads. It is believed that this is being done by a bot farm somewhere. I can’t remember if this was reported on Euro news or CNN International. It demonstrates that trump is concerned about the women’s vote.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the latest school shooting in Georgia … who should shoot his mouth off but JD Vance? He’s just described school shootings as “a fact of life”. Er, no they fucking aren’t, you piss-brained spongiform encephalopathy on legs, at least not in countries that don’t share your weird fetish for guns as fucking dick extensions …
It’s an interesting American phenomenon that when we go postal we blame the world around us and begin taking out our neighbors, classmates, and coworkers. In Korea the students just off themselves. I’m not sure it’s much better but when all things totaled up, there are probably fewer dead people. Then again, without guns, there are knives, sticks, and fun things to throw. One of my favorite all-time events was when the Korean Buddhists went to war with each other and the police had to intervene. Oh those peaceful Buddhists. LOL Buddhism is the real religion of peace.
Heh, South Korean riot police tend to adopt the sledgehammer approach to situations like this. I remember reading P. J. O’Rourke’s account of a student protest against corruption in his book Holidays in Hell (I have a copy from the original print run), and SK riot police do not pussyfoot about. Usually, their approach is to storm a building in numbers, laying down entire artillery barrages of pepper gas canisters, then giving the opposition a good whacking with batons. Not a group of people you want to piss off.
The book mentions that since the national sport is Tae Kwon Do, even unarmed combat between SK police and opposition gets nasty. Kimchi also gets a mention. Which makes me wonder who would be stupid enough to start a war against a nation whose farts alone will drop you to your knees at 200 yards, before they begin actual fighting, and then show off their berserker talents in a manner you won’t forget in a hurry.
If Trump loses the election and his supporters try something similar to what happened on January 6th, I suspect that with Biden in charge the outcome will be totally different. No mollycoddling the insurgents this time.
