I have less of a problem with an oath of loyalty to one’s country than I do to a God thing. I’m not even sure what an oath of loyalty to a country would mean. If I fight to change police and political corruption, aren’t I doing it because I want the country to be better? The incumbents don’t like it but how is it not loyalty to the country? If I want changes in the system or even a constitutional congress, how is that not loyalty to the country? Loyalty does not carry with it the idea of following the status quo.
