I understand that. But they’re taking them when the symptoms aren’t severe. Sometimes it’s a minor cold. I’ve known a few people who worked at the ER who have bitched about it. They make those people wait up to 6 hours while they deal with the more severe cases like heart attacks and bowel obstructions. Then when they are seen they complain when the doctor tells them to go to Wal-Mart and buy Tylenol.

Indeed…unfortunately, many here refuse to get a flu vaccine and absolutely reject wearing a mask, although both have been amply demonstrated to be effective. During the worst of the pandemic people were required to wear masks in most public settings and those two winters had the lowest numbers of influenza cases in many years. But…freedumb…

So many people where I live are either really anti vaxx, religious extremists, or conspiracy theorists who believe 9/11 was set up by the government. I know the pharmacy manager at the Wal-Mart said that they had a lot of their covid vaccine being wasted because it comes 6 in a pack and when they open it they have 12 hours before it goes bad and they have to discard it. I go in and get my flu and covid shots when it’s time. Speaking of which I need to go in and get my TDAP shot this spring. I’m over due.

I am fully aware that some folks refuse vaccines for what I would consider unsound reasons. Not that you are encouraging this, I just don’t think they should be chastised for seeking medical care in the event they become ill.
Their opinion about this type of preventative medicine is likely due to ignorance and/or indoctrination. What I think they need is education, not guilt mongering.

I fully agree. despite the fact we may disagree with them on many topics, they are still fellow human beings with families, jobs, aspirations and many things in common.

Are we not better than some disgusting theists who rationalize that anyone outside of their faith deserve poor treatment?

This is why I do my best not to be mean to a religious person. Firm, yes, mean, no. I don’t think they are stupid for believing, rather, I think they are misguided. I don’t call them names and do not think they are retarded.
So many, particularly Judeo-xtians, are in terrible pain. Pain that I’ve heard many former theists here recount when describing their previous indoctrination.
I do get angry when the religious say mean things to me, discriminate, or insert their religiosity into government. I suspect, though, that that behavior is due to fear borne of what they were taught.
Mostly, I feel sad for folks who didn’t get to experience being raised secularly, and lucky that I did.

@CyberLN My position is that almost all theists are decent sincere people who are the victims of the best con game ever.

I’ve heard of that being a cause. I always chug water when I get sick with flu or some kind of virus. It helps. Anyways, sorry for your loss.

I feel differently towards the ones that are extreme.

I feel that forcing your religion down someone’s throat is immoral. I didn’t like it when it was done to me. So when someone goes around saying things like “you need god!” “You need to be saved!” and “Jesus Loves You”, it starts to really annoy me.

Most theist’s are hypocrites. I really don’t like religious hypocrites who tell everyone to get their shit together but they’ll go out and drink and do meth and have threesomes. I think if you declare yourself of a particular religion, you should follow it.

I don’t call them retarded. But I often do refer to them as a religtard which is slang for religious person who is unreasonable.

Smoothly he says, have you seen this pile of bones? I’ll be surprised if I can limp along the HVAC through winter. I mean sheesh, has anyone looked at the refrigerator lately? I’ll be patching the roof if anyone needs me.

What’s going on with the roof?

The made-up word ‘religitard’ is a combination of ‘religious’ and ‘retard’. You may want to check a few for urban and slang dictionaries.

Ah I see. Woops. I just thought for the longest time that it described religious bigots.

The CDC estimates that, from October 1, 2022 through December 3, 2022, there have been between 7,300 and 21,000 flu-related deaths in the U.S.

Well the corporation lost a night shift janitor that I don’t remember meeting. But she was younger than me and worked in the same building and now she’s dead from the flu. Get your shots people!

That is why I included the phrase “almost all”. I fully agree that at times we see the bottom of the barrel in theists, but I also suspect a great majority of theists are unaware of forums like this, and disinterested in engaging any of us.

Besides @Tin-Man having a quarter mile slip n slide on the fourth floor, along with @Cognostic and his ceiling covered in plungers that he gingerly swings to and fro on. If @skriten would stop using it as a nesting ground. I mean who is up there with him Big Bird?

This place is such a shit show, and you all wonder why I’m so irritated.

Sorry, what was that about being irritated? Have you thought of running up to the fourth floor and taking a turn on the slip-n-slide? I have not done it in a while because I have been practicing my lines for the 'Shit Show," at the ‘Nesting Ground?’ You know, the new porn club Skriten opened on the third floor. When he heard about the plungers and the piles of shit in my apartment, she said he just had to get the act on stage. I’ve been practicing my lines all day.

And then there are the dance steps…

I’m never gonna learn this shit.
