So it is just a week and a wee bit until parliament election day here. And all summer I’ve wanted to troll politicians by challenging them on their platforms, and argumenting diametrically opposed to them all, to see their reaction. Today was the day where I would get my entertainment. I got to challenge representatives from two of the three christianity-based parties.
The first one was from the biggest of them, the party that are already represented in the parliament. I started alongside my wife, who challenged him, asking what the deal was with their opposition against homosexuality. Poor guy looked just like a deer caught in the headlights of a car at night. He even tried arguing that by allowing homosexuals to marry etc., the human race would eventually die out. I kid you not. Then he got my whole “bronze age mythology”-rant.
Next up was a representative for a micro-party that want to pull out of international deals, being naïvely national conservative. They also eventually got my full “bronze age mythology”-rant. But despite not understanding the difference between not believing in a god and believing there is no god, these guys were much more adept at actually keeping a conversation going with somewhat rational arguments. So kudos to them.
I talked to three other more conventional parties, which were much more level-headed, and those conversations were quite interesting, even though they had quite different opinions on stuff than me. All in all, quite a successful day for trolling.
