Thoughts on Advaita Vedanta Metaphysics

When you can no longer deal with the trappings of this world, you can always move onto the next. Perhaps there was good Karma in setting ones’ self on fire for a good cause.

I have lived in a country that is 50% Buddhist for years. Buddhists and Buddhism is as fucked up as any other religion on the planet.

@Cognostic The traditional notion of karma is such nonsense. If there was some sort of “Divine Justice”, then why do good people suffer and die young, while those who are evil, live for long periods of time and are prosperous and successful? I have not seen one shred of evidence of some sort of “Divine Justice”, meted out by some God or the Universe, etc… If that was the case, then the world would be a heck of a lot better than it is now. And besides, if my present suffering is because of some misdeed in a past life, then I say to that person, two words: prove it". And guess what? They can’t.

I’ve got rages against Karma on the site. The Foundation of most Cast systems on the planet. One of the most inhumane ideas to ever imprison the masses.

@Cognostic Bro…you have NO idea how much this pisses me off. It is like kicking a man when he is down. I really have to control myself, or else a person who says that, would be in the hospital.

It takes religion to make good people do crazy shit.

@Cognostic The Christian Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the fighting in Ireland between Protestants and Catholics, the Salem Witch Trials etc… Thank goodness I left religion.

Don’t know about that, although Buddhist can be big on self sacrifice…

There’s a Buddhist story I read a long time ago: A monk was travelling through the forest. He comes across a tiger. He becomes aware that the tiger is starving and has cubs. So the monk lest the tiger eat him.

I gathered that story was meant to be inspiring. I think the monk was a fucking moron .Same goes for anyone who dies martyr when they can avoid that fate. I have no issue with say a person dying in say saving the life of a child or other loved one.

Another example of idiocy in action ; Saint Maximillian Kolbe. The man for whom Kolbe gave his life survived the so he could see his family for whom he had survived. They had been murdered by the Nazis.

Superstition is a poor basis for any rationale, though it’s always amusing to see the superstitious sneer at other people’s superstitions.

Exactly the Buddhist sentiment to which I am referring. If there is good Karma in it… you can do it.
