I mentioned it above. You have to have a 25-year-old memory just to get the reference, and then… I don’t get what was funny about it. “Will’s wife looked like GI Jane?” Are we in the third grade? I couldn’t even get the gorillas to laugh at that one and they are as dumb as shit.
I didn’t know she had alopecia tbh, thought she’d just cut her hair short. Seems like a massive overreaction to me.
This seems to be more about past digs than that particular joke. It also has a lot to say about the Smith’s unhealthy relationship. They’ve spoken, and written, at length about their open marriage, but she seems to be more invested in the idea than him. The number of women saying Will was suppose to protect his family is disturbing. Sure, protect your 5 foot wife from physical attacks, but get into physical altercations at the slightest whiff of insult? No, no, no, no. Tragedy can ensue from that kind of thinking. It is a nightmare to women to think you can be physically attacked in public and no one would help you, but this hypersensitivity is more a problem than a help.
Exactly. She wasn’t being assaulted. She was being offended. He pulled a “Karen”.
People love seeing this kind of shit lol. Drama sells.
I have yet to read the “story.”
Perhaps it has details that haven’t yet been scheduled for release by Smith’s managers and the scene’s producers.
March 27 - Oscars
Mar 29 - this was out (their industry they have to be fast)
Mar 30 - you get your copy in the mail…. you got some great mail service (business) - it takes a week for me but I live in butt-fuck nowhere
" ‘Certain Things Set Him Off’
Total and complete fucking BULLSHIT! He was not “Set-Off.” He was laughing at the joke. Chris had nothing to do with “Setting him off.” The joke had nothing to do with “Setting him off.” You do not react with laughter when you are “Set-Off.” To be set off is like a switch flicked and before you know it, the act is done. Will’s bullshit was a reaction to his wife’s response and a feeble effort on his part to try and save face after laughing at the joke. Will responded like a little kid trying to avoid punishment. “Let me do this and I will make it all better.” He got caught with his pants down and could not think of any way out of the situation other than to blame someone else. No one else is responsible for Will’s BULLSHIT!
Actually, I would say the script writers and the producers/director were responsible for that bullshit. Although, to be fair, I am surprised that such highly paid professional actors did such a piss-poor acting job that evening. I’ve seen better performances at high school plays.
@Bluedoc … sorry, I should have posed this more as a question, but the business - how long to get your mail (usually)? The People is weekly, so is it an overnight service or priority (hospitals, medical offices, etc it’s like free advertising for them)…Looks like they publish current celebrity events within a day or so before mail outs. Just curious. Oh, and selling to grocery stores etc. Bet they get their loads overnight fresh off the press.
My business’s copy is almost always in the mail box a day prior to it’s appearance in grocery stores.
Just was curious because I don’t subscribe to mail mags. Actually I haven’t ever bought a People but have read them in offices
Not buying your hypothesis witout evidece. It’s easier to believe Will is an asshole who just fucked up in front of the cameras.
Watched the whole sorry spectacle on YouTube, firstly a massive and unnecessary overreaction, and that’s just his wife’s eye rolling. The physical assault speaks for itself, and I have to say how impressed I was with Chris Rock’s cool reaction, hope the guy is ok.
It wasn’t Will Smith who said that about the Devil, it was Denzel Washington who said it.
Denzel is a religious man.
That explains a lot.
Will Smith repeated it in his Oscar acceptance speech, latching on to the excuse that the devil was at fault.
That is correct. Washington stated
“Well, there’s a saying, ‘When the devil ignores you, then you know you’re doing something wrong.’ The devil goes, ‘Oh no, leave him alone, he’s my favorite.’ Conversely, when the devil comes at you, maybe it’s because he’s trying to do something right. And for whatever reason the devil got ahold of that circumstance that night,”
It must be nice to blame and inflict one’s immoral mistakes onto a fictional character. When some idiot blames the devil or whatever god they worship for their wrong doings… they’re not sorry, they don’t care. Whatever anyone says, It’s not their fault. It’s a cop out for them. I don’t buy into that bullshit excuse. There’s nothing sincere or genuine about it.
This is an apology.
