It is not the sexual acts that are the most troubling, it is the coverup. No one here states “all” Baptist are sexual predictors, what seems evident is the leadership covers up those who are.
It would seem they do so to protect the organization, not the people they should be protecting. Much like the hierarchy of the Catholic church.
I ask: is this because their mythical leader puts himself first in his commandments to them? Or is it simply money? I think it’s both. Do you have a reason that you find acceptable? Is this what allows you to continue in your faith?
The hypocrisy… when churches and politicians take “moral superiority stands” and want to inflict their standard on everyone (don’t say gay, gender identity, abortion, sex for reproduction only, ban birth control, sexuality etc) AND then are discovered to, oh, I don’t know - have a video face-humping & negligee wearing; crack smoking and gay sex; paying for abortions and paying off porn stars; moving pedophiles and keeping secret lists; and on and on and on…
“Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I personally resent it bitterly.”
Thanks Mark. Here is another that I find relevant:
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” - Isaac Asimov
Amen. At the age of ten I discovered the school library, and proceeded to read everything I could. And in the science fiction area they had some of the masters, Asimov, Clarke, and Heinlein. From Asimov’s Foundation series there was a little saying that has stuck to me for my entire lifetime.
Uh, was it a violent meal or do you just think that eating your neighbor is an act of violence?..cause it “'aint necessarily so”. I’ve been pretty hungry myself, not to mention the possible use of a euphemism here.
Well. I suppose it wasn’t all that violent. Not after the third role of duck tape was applied. (Don’t assert that I spelled Duck Tape wrong. It’ will take ;you places you just don’t waant to go my little birdie friend.) So. as I was saying. After the 3ed roll, things actually went fairly smooth and the new chain saw worked wonderfully. I have to thank Tin Man for sending that to me last Christmas. I know he was just trying to get rid of evidence but it’s the thought that counts and the new toy has been so muich fun. This thing is so powerful that if you tap a bunny rabbit on the head with it, the rabbid juist explodes. Hair today and gone in a flash. It’s amazing to watch.
Oh, good. So happy to see you are getting some good use out of it. You never mentioned it all this time, so I was a little worried you didn’t like it. Make sure you sharpen the chain after every couple of bodies. A nice sharp chain is the key to highly effecient chainsaw performance.
Well, to be honest, I hadden’t used it in all that time. But when my neighbor insulted me and told me I needed a bath, well that was it. Everyone knows I take regular baths. Once a year, like clockwork, just before Christmas, I take my yearly dip in the pond, and even pick my teeth clean with river weeds. I am about as clean a chimp as you will ever see, and for someone to come out and say… well… I just lost it. And there was the tape and the saw just leering at me from atop of the fireplace mantle. I thought to myself, “I don’t have to wait until October to wear that outfit, I can use it now.” I pulled it off the mantel, put it on, and the rest is history channel fodder.
