I’m sure that everyone here has heard of the Doomsday Clock with midnight representing nuclear holocaust, and how close we are to it.
I wonder if we should have an American Theocracy Doomsday Clock, with midnight representing a complete religious takeover (by Evangelicals) of the United States government.
How close to midnight does everyone think we are?

Depends somewhat on how you define “complete religious takeover”. They have already resurrected Jim Crow, largely eliminated / restricted abortion, and have a Christo-fascist in charge of the military. In some ways you could argue it’s already a couple of minute past midnight.
If that term means a Handmaid’s Tale-style overt theocracy, I think that’s far less certain. Trump’s power coalition is a mix of Christards, tech bros and straight-up criminals, and while their objectives have some overlap, they are also strange bedfellows in many ways, regarding each other less as allies than as useful fools.
Thank you, and I do concede that the definition of a “complete Evangelical takeover” has a lot of grey areas that would need to be clarified before establishing such a clock.
