I wear a few baphomet shirts. I enjoy the image of baphomet because it’s blasphemous against my former Christian religion. Lucifer, Satan, baphomet, whatever you want to call it was what I was tormented with, it was used to instill fear in me. So I now where it to remember I conquered that fear, it’s no longer a tool to be used against me.
Plus I enjoy dark imagery, metal music, black clothes, and Halloween. You want to call me childish go ahead, but don’t tell me what I can and cannot enjoy artistically or satirically. Owning a bible does not make you a Christian, why would owning images of baphomet mean I have to believe in the supernatural.
I own plenty of Christian art also, I enjoy German gothic christian art and I have a very soft spot for Russian orthodox art also. Gold leaf and amazing craftsmanship have always caught my eye. So because I display these in my home am I a theist?
Exactly. I listen to a lot of classic music that was inspired by religion. Such pieces as Cohen’s Hallelujah and many many classical pieces are on my playlist.
I don’t think you’re hearing me. My entire stance is self image. I’m talking about when I go out in public. Take it from my perspective. I want people in my life to know I’m an Atheist. I own it. I’ve already been accused of Satanism several times by a family member and a few Christians that I’ve talked to. It’s insulting. One being my mother. If I go around wearing Satanic bullshit, they’re going to start thinking that’s what I am. A Satanist or whatever other religion. Myself personally, I wouldn’t suggest flying the banner of another religion.
If I say I’m not Muslim but start dressing like it and saying “allahu akbar” and talking about it and using the symbols on everything, they’re going to assume I’m a liar. They’re going to assume I really am a Muslim. Because in Islam, they’re allowed to lie to their enemies. It’s not a sin to them to do that. Then my claim as an Atheist loses credibility and people quit taking me seriously about it. I want to own up to it when people ask me where I stand. My entire point is that I don’t want to be viewed as a RELIGTARD. I get enough shit from people for being an Atheist and I know people where I live will definitely harass you if they believe you’re worshipping “the devil”. Walking around in Missouri and saying “Hail Satan! Praise Lucifer!” is going to get your ass kicked.
