New to the crew, how do ya do!

This is an opportunity for me to say ‘hello’ to a presumably peaceful community! I’m very glad to have found this online space where I am free to express my complaints with this god-driven Earth but that’s not the meaning of this post. This is an honest attempt to find my tribe. Godless, rock and roll maniacs with a lust for knowledge and a desire to do good for the sake of being good.

Even if you’re not into what I’ve detailed in my profile, please do not be afraid to comment! I’m happy to talk to anyone/everyone, even if we differ on the whole ‘Big Man Upstairs’ ordeal. I’m here to make friends, and hopefully, create a long lasting positive impact in the online atheist community. I’d like it if you would plug your favorite bands or songs in the comments like one big music party but you’re obviously free to interact as you see fit. Thanks for having me yall!

I’m afraid I don’t have much focus on music; even though I was at one time a keyboardist it was in the service of hymnody sadly, not Ozzy Ozbourne. The closest I come to Metal is that my stepson loves contemporary classical music – the kind with all the dissonance and instruments played in creative and unintended ways, like plucking and stroking piano strings with spoons or whatever.

Nevertheless you are most welcome and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of common ground, even with this nerdy software developer. One nice side effect of faithlessness IMO is tolerance. I hang out with some guys on Saturday mornings playing cards … one of them drives around with a skeleton in the back seat of his car and sometimes sleeps in a coffin he keeps in his basement, resulting in much pearl-clutching and gossiping of his neighbor ladies. I am pleased that, coming out of a cult full of conformance fetishists, I now can enjoy human diversity, at least among humans who are kind and decent.

I’ve been a metal head for almost 50 years now, and still love this music. I’ve also been an atheist my entire life despite being raised in a catholic family.
A list of my favorite bands would be very long, so I’ll list my top ten or so here.
RUSH
Zeppelin
Aerosmith
Opeth
Behemoth
Watain
Inquisition
Belphegor
AKHYLS
Nevermore
Primordial
Hypocrisy
Rotting Christ
Septic Flesh
And many many more, this just scratches the surface.

I’m more a fan of the other “Ozzy” – Ozzie Nelson, than the one who died yesterday.

“… presumably peaceful community”?

Have you read much by @Cognostic ? Where is that shit stained ape??

Anyway, all the welcomes and all.

That sounds so wild but you’re absolutely right. Humans are so weird; it’s just fun to take a back seat sometimes and just enjoy the show. An appreciation for life comes without casting judgement!

Duuude, not a bad band on that list. Ahklys is a terrifying band. They’re really good at capturing the feeling of dread and evil in their music, almost like they have it down to a science. Anaal Nathrakh’s early albums also induce terror. The riffs are just so hateful! No hate on their newer sound either, I think what they’re doing now is gonna make serious waves later.

I also happen to be a shit-stained ape, the more the merrier. Thanks, I’m glad to be here!

Well I suppose Cog might have had a Dank but in that case where is Cog. Welcome to the forum DankNugulus.

Prefer the symphonic end of the spectrum myself, such as Within Temptation.

To me, metal always sounds better when it’s accompanied by soaring coloratura soprano voices.

Hi! I’m new here too. Trying to find like-minded people.

I’ve spent closer to two weeks in this lil hub for atheists and I have to say, I like it here! There’s a lot of content and everyone seems pretty friendly.

Wait until a creationist turns up. Then you’ll see the nuclear ordnance being deployed.

“Nuclear ordnance”:rofl: yeah, I can’t wait to see that.

Hi, Dank. Please note that it can be used against ideas but definitely not people. :grinning:

Of course! Nuking people is wrong and it makes their skin melt off. Nuking ideas is fine bc it hurts no one. I’d like to believe everyone in here doesn’t have the desire or need to physically (maybe even psychologically) damage other human beings.

It won’t take you long to find threads where the requisite firepower was deployed.

I’ll point you at one of mine, namely this one. Sheldon and several others certainly have their own contributions in this vein, and Sheldon in particular shares my appetite for the “load all guns with Katies, fire a broadside” approach, though with a certain finesse, as you’ll learn upon perusing his oeuvre. Choose any of the regulars that you’ve already encountered, check to see which threads they’ve started, and have fun finding the ones where the usual suspects were subject to shock and awe.

An example that was launched by one of the usual suspects is this one, and it won’t take long to discover what happened to this specimen’s cretinous apologetics.

By the way, you’ll discover that several here have a very individual sense of humour, that takes time acquiring. One that sometimes trips up well-meaning newcomers, as well as the duplicitous mythology fanboys, though in the latter case, we consider that acceptable collateral damage …

Finally, a word of advice. Sometimes, the forum software throws wobblies. You are strongly advised to compile your posts offline in a text editor before submission, so that if the forum software does decide to take an impromptu LSD trip, you haven’t lost your work. It’s pretty much standard practice for me, because some of my output consists of 25,000 word dissertations, and I definitely don’t want to lose a body of work that size …
