“Fear women”
Not as though I don’t get the meme, but really, it was a fear of women.

Nurses, midwives, healthcare givers such as was available etc etc, basically anyone remotely challenging the church patriarchal hierarchy.
Though the point is well made, there is no evidence that if witches exist, they have ever harmed anyone, whereas plenty of people have been tortured and immolated by various churches.
