Maybe Trump Isn't Lying

I don’t fully understand the question.

Did you mean that he has been stripped of power at this point?

Did you mean that I should think he is not stripped of power, implying that he hasn’t been?

Please clarify what you mean here.

Or did you mean to imply that a malignant narcissist with dementia is somehow stripped of their power to think rationally?

I see too many ways to interpret your question and so look to you for clarity.

Thank you,

Walter.

The term “useful idiot” springs to mind.

It wasn’t an attack of any kind. I’m asking: why do you think that American politicians, legislators, or whoever - why do you think that there has not been or will not foreseeably be a coordinated effort to strip Trump of his power? He is clearly an evil man and he is clearly a threat to the stability of the world and he is clearly not acting in the interests of most Americans. So why is this incompetent liar still in office, in your opinion?

I’m not completely familiar with the term. Are you implying that he’s a puppet of some kind?

Useful idiot:

a naive or credulous person who can be manipulated or exploited to advance a cause or political agenda

First and foremost, The Orange is an idiot that does not comprehend much of reality and how society and the world as a whole functions. He is also a useful idiot for e.g. the war criminals Putin and Netanyahu.

There was no implication of an attack of any kind upon anyone in my questions to you. I simply couldn’t get past what I considered to be the several different possible interpretations of your question. My bad if I was insufficiently clear.

My opinion?

Ok then, in my opinion I can see parallels between Trump and Stalin. Not in terms of politics, policies or ideologies, but more in the way of raw, animal cunning. Stalin was no genius and was intellectually outranked by many in the Soviet hierarchy. But he was an arch manipulator of others and had just enough self-interested foresight to strip away any mechanisms within the Soviet state apparatus that could challenge his power.

He selected a cadre of ruthlessly efficient lieutenants and through a combination of overt power (executions, purges, imprisonments) and covert power (bullying, intimidation and kompromat) he held Russia in the grip of fear for decades. Nobody dared move against him - either those motivated by a personal lust for power or those motivated by an abhorrence of the moral evil of the Soviet system.

Only when illness rendered Stalin vulnerable did the opportunists see their way clear to stepping into the power vacuum.

The parallels I draw between Trump and Stalin are in no way conclusive and may well be seriously off target. But what heck? You asked for an opinion and now you’re getting it.

I perceive that there is a miasma of fear hanging over Washington in a not dissimilar way to the cloud of terror that settled over the Kremlin while Stalin sat in the big chair. Until that miasma dissipates nobody will move to challenge the Donald. For good moral reasons or for selfishly-motivated reasons. Either way, despite evidence of his unfitness for office, that tipping point hasn’t been reached yet.

I don’t know enough about the inner workings of American politics but I suspect that, in his own low and cunning way, Trump has dismantled or neutered some of the legal mechanisms that could be used to oust him. Or perhaps he just feels he if can bluff and bluster loud enough, the problem will just go away.

So, for what it’s worth, that’s my opinion Dan. Nothing short of illness or severe incapacity will remove Trump from office while the cloud of fear hangs over Washington. The fate of us all does not lie in the hands of good men moved by their good consciences to do the right thing. As usual, our fate lies in the hands of chance.

Having said that, things could have been worse. The American people, in their wisdom, could have elected Greg Stillson.

Thank you,

Walter.

I guess he would be mad if he knew he was being exploited as such a moron. Perhaps this is why they have surrounded him with “yes” men who constantly flatter him and prop up his ego.

Can a moron understand that he is a moron?

He didn’t get it the previous time, so I’m not too hopeful he understands it this time either. He’s just a useful idiot that for some incomprehensible reason has become the centre of attention, and the spineless opportunistic cretins that surround him seem incapable of having their own opinions about stuff.

You’re asking the wrong guy! :joy:

I think his ability to deceive the public is almost on par with Satan’s ability to lead individuals into evil.
