Magical is one way of perceiving it, but I prefer to use the term ā€œimaginativeā€. We all have the ability, to some degree, to stimulate that part of our brains associated with imagination. Children are naturally more in tune with their imaginations, something that tends to decline via adulthood. Some people prefer to confuse their thought processes with reality, while others (such as fiction writers) use their imaginations to their advantage to entertain others. Religion is an example of people not being able to properly distinguish their fantastical thoughts with reality, irrationally preferring the comfort of the delusion.

And that is why it is MAGICAL and not just imagination. You are defeating your own position. Santa is magical until you realize he is just imagination. A child knows this.
