Believing and having an experience isn’t compelling evidence in a debate. Christianity is a wide spread religion and still hasn’t presented anything solid to give me or some of the people here a reason to believe that your god, or the existence of gods from other religions in general, exist.
I’m not arguing from a religious stand point. No one fed me this religion and treated it as fact. All of the other so called gods are buried in the ground…islam, hindu, etc. human beings…God the Almighty came here to redeem us from the sin that is in our lives….To pay the price for our sins on the cross, because he loves us more than we can imagine….I personally was agnostic 50 plus years ago. I questioned Him, that if He was real to show Himself to me, he did in many ways, and he can do it for anybody that honestly ask him to do it for them.
BTW…what do u people debate on here if most are atheist ? Nothing to debate in my opinion unless you debate against true believers in the Lord
You want compelling evidence? release your negative thoughts sent to you by satan himself. Ask God to reveal His true existence to you with your heart……then open your eyes to the things that will transpire in your life in the near future.
What objective evidence do you have for this god thing? I’m still waiting for it and you still haven’t presented anything other than preaching.
The only way to have compelling evidence is to personally ask God ( if he exist) is to reveal Himself to you……then sit back, wait and decide for yourself the realization that He not only exist, but that He loves you more than you could ever imagine.
It’s not preaching. It’s presenting the good news that Jesus Christ is Lord…that He loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. You are a sinner. period, end of subject. God is Holy. He paid the price for your sins and the only thing u need to do is accept His free gift to you.
So you have no scientific or physical evidence for this god to show me or demonstrate?
Because preaching out of a holy book written by men and lying that a fictional character talks to you comes off pretty absurd.
You came here knowing nothing. you will not leave here knowing nothing. You will live as a spirit with or without God for all of eternity. One on here keeps preaching Pascals wager….it all boils down to a wager. flip the coin. heads or tails…..believing and I am wrong….lost NOTHING…..on the other flip side…….not believing and wrong, lost EVERYTHING
66 writers of the Bible (God’s Word) all of them living over thousands of years, ALL presenting Jesus Christ (the Son of God) as the Saviour of our souls is more than enough scientific evidence for God to demonstrate, and I can present much more scientific evidence if u would like…
Writers who were commissioned by Emperor Constantine and his council to have the New Testament and the church system made so they could unite his empire and control the masses. The first Bibles were written in Greek.
Well that isn’t true. OUCH
Tell me how that isn’t true ? Do u think the Bible was writen by a couple of guys over just a couple of years ?
I was a fundamentalist Christian for over thirty years. You’re literally quoting verses to me as if I am not so familiar with them I could still quote them from memory.
There are several problems with Pascal’s wager (PW). One of them is the following: If a christian invokes PW to justify belief in the christain god, then what about Allah, the hindu gos, the norse gods, the gods of the greek pantheon, old egyptian gods, or old Sumerian gods? Or any other god in any other religion, past or present, forgotten or remembered? Traditionally, PW is summarised like this, in a 2x2 matrix:
| Christian god exists | Christian god does not exist | |
|---|---|---|
| Believes in the god | Double plus good | Whatever |
| Does not believe in the god | Oh no! |
Meh |
But considering all the other possibilities, what seemed like no-brainer is in fact reduced to a tiny litte corner of the table with “Oh noes!” spread out all around. So without objective empirical evidence for the existence of a god (any god) to help you pick which one to follow, you are screwed. So with thousands of possible gods, past, present, and future, suddenly the atheist position is not that unattractive, after all.
| ∃ God1 | ∃ God2 | … | ∃ GodN | No gods exist | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Faith in God1 | Double plus good | Oh no! |
… | Oh no! |
Whatever |
| Faith in God2 | Oh no! |
Double plus good | … | Oh no! |
Whatever |
| … | |||||
| Faith in GodN | Oh no! |
Oh no! |
… | Double plus good | Whatever |
| Atheist | Oh no! |
Oh no! |
… | Oh no! |
Meh |
(The notation “∃ Godn” means “God number n exists”)
Finally, PW promotes fear-based adoption of a random god or religion, not a genuine adoption based on actual faith. Which is rather silly, and goes against the intention, don’t you think?
No you led with Pascal’s Wager. If you’re interested in what we think about it, use the search function. I’m not going over that territory anymore.
Your statements about the Bible are false: the Bible wasn’t written over thousands of years; also most of the authors of the Bible don’t mention Jesus, at all.
Given your false statements, I’ll give you one chance to retract them. If you don’t take this chance this will be the last message you receive from me. I have no interest in speaking to people who knowingly make false statements.
Well, obviously believe what you want to believe. The fact is, we will ALL stand before the God of the universe on judgment day. Either your name is written in the Book of Life or it is not….you and I will stand before Him, and He will either say enter into life with Me, or He will say be gone from Me, I never knew you.
This didn’t answer my questions.
Great, another liar for Jesus. Sigh
eta: imagine the audacity it takes to lie about the most well distributed book in history, a book that many of us were forced to read/study. It is basically the easiest book to fact check…
