The 21st night of September…
It’s Stephen King’s birthday.
In case you haven’t heard some of the christians are predicting the end of the world, again, on September 23, or maybe the 24th, it’s so hard to keep up. Anyway, it’s been nice knowing you
.
Any chance they’ve got some money or stuff they want to unload before it happens? ![]()
I love when this happens, because once the day ends they are going to be ridiculed by the entire internet.
How many times have we been having a situation like this? Countless and every time the apocalypse prophets were proven wrong, so I’m pretty sure this is just another one of these cases.
In fairness it is a small number augmented by a larger number who just enjoy the low-grade conspiracy theories around it as entertainment but are not really making life plans around it. Some evangelist in South Africa started it off and it got amplified by social media. Since the Babble explicitly says “no man knows the day or the hour”, most mainstream Bible-thumpers will trot that out to hold most of the faithful in line. Also most Christians don’t even believe in a “rapture” … on a worldwide basis I’d estimate about 80% of Christians don’t even follow that particular branch of eschatology. It is of course popular with the Christo-fascists so we see more of it here in the US than elsewhere.
