Deconstructing theistic brainwashing

Yeh, it can be used (like most Aussie epithets) as a disparaging term : “dont be a cunt mate” (behave/speak badly) a very insulting “fighting talk” phrase: " You just cant help being a cunt canya, cunt? , A term of endearment" Cunt! Haven’t seen ya in ages ya cunt!" and "how ya going (are they hanging) you old cunt?

Not very often applied to females in my knowledge except amongst a certain type of female between themselves or at Police Officers.

Of course a subset of our First Nation population consider everyone with a pale skin or uniform a “white cunt”.

Hope that clears things up youse cunts.

It’s all good in the end.

Col’n (on the right) would be described as a dim cunt…

Cheers Whitefire. My dad often called me a dumb cunt and I never found it offensive. But, nevertheless, I will make more of an effort to not use terms that degrade gender, sexual diversity or race.

You will find no one treating any theist with disrespect who comes onto the site with a legitimate inquiry or for a legitimate discussion. On the other hand, when we get the idiotic, inane, apologists who repeat the same bullshit over and over and over even though their shit has been responded to by seven people in the same thread, well “Fuck Them” it’s open season on the inane.

Cognostic, I enjoy this site, but at the risk of being kicked off, I will be honest. Theists are bound under the threat of a loving God, casting them into hell. You are a free thinker who is under no such obligation. When I first visited atheist sites as a theist, I had the crap mocked out of me and it drove me back to theism (theism has nothing to do with logic, as you may well understand, but perhaps, not completely). Being a theist does not make you a dumb arse, Matt Dillihunty is a case in point. I am not the brightest of people, but being a dumb arse did not make me a Christain, longing for acceptance did. Sometimes, a theist may well pop up with their apologetic script, hoping to convert you.If you bag the shit out of them (which you are easily able to do) it may well just drive them further into bullshit, and you win. I would personally like to live in a world free from religion in both my lifetime and that of my children, but this is highly unlikely. To speed the process up I think ( but who the hell am I to change the world)? that we need to be as cunning as a serpent and gentle as a dove. I am sure you are as familiar with the biblical passage as I am. I concur with it until proven otherwise

Bloody awesome, I loved these two as a kid.

But I need to qualify. Some christian apologists are just scum, others are just deluded.

He meant use your brain to preserve your theistic indoctrination, by being as closed minded as you can.

It seems to work a treat for a lot of the theists who come here to peddle their superstitious wares.

A few of us on here, hahaha  were the “true believers”. You are explaining something, a process that we all went through at some point and did a “wash, rinse, repeat”.

I was mocked and yes it strengthened my faith way back then. BUT it also :face_vomiting: “planted seeds” (fuckin’ hate scripture BUT you started it). Some may come to do this - plant a seed - but leave with one instead.

There isn’t a way to change anyone’s mind. I tried for decades as a JW, and I sure in hell am not interested in deconverting anyone. They can do it themselves, if they wish.

It is not my job to coddle the ignorant. I With that said, I have seen instances where Atheists on the site have discussed whether or not a specific poster was being real or not. No one on the site is a monster. No one just lashes out with bullshit until bullshit is “ASSERTED” by the theist.

You want to get everyone on the site responding to a post, ask something like “Why are you all choosing to burn in hell?” Stupid shit comments will get you stupid shit responses. An honest inquiry will get you an honest reply. That has been my experience on the site for over … how long have I been here now???

“Pass me the phone”

starts to type response after grabbing it from monkey hand

Long enough that some of your responses make a little sense.

Well that is a red flag, imo.

@Whitefire13

Haha reminds me when a Jehovah Witness couple came to my door. Before they could start preaching I asked them if they believed that God sent them to convert me. They said yes. I asked them if perhaps God sent them to me so they can be converted instead. They were perplexed so I gave them one option. If you want to be heard then you must listen to my words after that. They agreed. Something must have happened because they sent another couple in their place months later… This happened three times in all and then the visits stopped. I kept wondering if they stopped because they were losing the ones they sent or were just afraid to send more…lol

So you want to treat people like they are too fucking stupid to understand. You want to play little cunning games with them and believe they will not spot the deception because you are so much more intelligent than them. You want to treat them like little children incapable of being whole, complete, and capable of making decisions for their own lives.

Perhaps not, however, being gullible certainly did play a part in making you a Christian. Believing in a magic world of ghosts, demons and spirits certainly had an influence. Imagining that an all powerful creator of the universe gave a shit about every thought you had and every prayer you uttered, most definitely had an influence. Now you say you were not stupid for holding such beliefs? So… why are you now so eager to treat the Christians who currently hold such beliefs as if they are too stupid to understand?

Matt does a great job of stripping away the bullshit and allowing a Christian to confront their own irrationality. If they are not ready to confront it, so be it. They will certainly have a memorable experience that will be recalled in any other conversation they have with a non-believer. Not everyone needs to be treated like a five year old.

Not me. I hold the moral high ground, and point out to theists that they do not. I arm myself with facts, arguments, and sound logic, while pointing out to them that their position is confused and most of their god concept is not rational. I plant the seeds of doubt in their minds.

If a theist senses dishonesty and a lack of sincerity, then they have every right to dismiss my actions and arguments.

In the end, honesty, facts, and sound arguments are the tools to win the day.

No. My bad “wise as a serpent” not cunning - I am slowly forgetting my memory verses. Yes, I am the smartest person in the whole world, thanks for confirming that. No, not incapable, just indoctrinated.

Indeed. Weren’t we all?

The indoctrination begins long before a person reaches the age of reason. Children are very gullible and will believe anything an adult says. Hence our religious beliefs and world views are absorbed, uncritically.

It is my observation that very few people ever seriously question their most powerful beliefs of any kind. If they did, there would be a much greater number of atheists than an estimated 13% of world population… It is we atheists who are atypical and arguably a threat to group survival.

That a person has ingrained beliefs they are unable or willing to change does not make them dipshits. It simply makes them human. I suspect this has an evolutionary advantage as universal human traits tend to have.

“Give me a child until he is seven and I will show you the man” (Aristotle)

 I called them theist dipshits :grimacing:

I stand by my assessment. So far, has there been a theist who wasn’t a dipshit that stayed here?
