Chatgpt debate?

I will be attempting a debate with chatgpt and was wondering if the rest of this community would like me to post it here? I’m not sure if this is the case but I think it’s mostly unbiased and if promted correctly can be a worthy opponent. Any suggestions on what to specifically prompt it with? This will be another debate of the “god hypothesis” I just feel that thread was becoming a little condensed and difficult to follow.

There were several problems with the chatgpt god-proof thread. The main ones were that

  • OP made assumptions that do not hold up to scrutiny.
  • OP did not use his/her own arguments, but just copied from a chatgpt log.
  • Only at the very end did OP show his/her cards, and revealed that the whole thing was a result of a “proof” obtained by consulting chatgpt, and that we had been “discussing” with chatgpt all along.

Now, mathematical theorems can be proven with the aid of an AI, but then you would need more specialised AI engines that can cast its reasoning in formal statements and in a mathematical language. This will then have to be run through specialised software for proving theorems. The output from engines like chatgpt is near worthless without further verification.

In short: I find reading a chatgpt log rather uninteresting, and not worth using my time on.

It’s a category error to treat chatbots as oracles. They hallucinate and/or misunderstand quite readily. They are just pattern matching engines, stringing together plausible words to follow other words. It’s been demonstrated that they have no real understanding or awareness of what you’re discussing – so why would you seek out its “opinion”?

The answer IMO is that sloppy thinkers don’t recognize sloppy thinking. Sometimes a chatbot will be right, or seemingly insightful in that it tells you something you didn’t already know. But you should not mistake that for socratic dialogue or something. The most a chatbot will be able to conjure in a “debate”, depending on how you prompt it, might be to regurgitate thoughts already well known that others have already published.

Good points to the both of you. I absolutely don’t plan on making an argument using ai thats just plain cheating when I have something I want to share, discuss, and have scrutinized. But I do feel that I’m flawed in my argument and ai can debate in a way that allows everything to stay cohesive. I’ve now tried a few prompts one of them was that the ai must win the argument at all cost and it seems pretty fleshed out.

Will you be, “proving that no deity of any kind exists”, at any point?
