I just watched your you tube video on the wafer wars.

Some thoughts.

Think of denying Eucharist to pro-choicers along the lines of a spouse denying sex. You are denying love.

It isn’t the bells that create the change. They are just to keep the congregation from falling asleep. The priest is irrelevant. It is the FAITH OF THE CONGREGATION that brings about the change. The change is not a physical transformation from bread to meat. It is a change of nature. The phrase is ontological. Other ontological changes are baptism and ordination.

Once you receive the Eucharist, it becomes a part of you. You take the love inside. It doesn’t separate. God is everywhere and a part of everything. The Eucharist is the powerful reminder of that.

The example in the video was that you then poop Jesus. Theologically, God is part of all things consubstantiation or no.

I used to believe in the Real Presence until Benne Dick.

As for the theologians. Benne Dick, the Great Theologian, with his well deserved reputation for clarity stated EXACTLY what the Eucharist is. It is a symbol of the sanctity of the clergies’ penises. Cardinal Law is on record of forcing an under age teen to have an induction after being impregnated by a gang of priests. He is buried in St. Mary Major, one of the big basilicas in Rome.

Very strong post. I can agree with almost everything. I also have come to the conclusion that the Catholic church has become a patriarchal structure that serves a bunch of mysogenic clergy to stay in power.

Unofficial communion wafers? I suppose it’s the same with these as with unofficial sports club supporter stash or with copies of products from well-known brands – it’s not the real deal. From the unofficial wafers you only get unofficial flesh from an unofficial Jesus, and that won’t work, will it?

AN ex Catholic, I am aware of the importance of the mass and the eucharist.

Of course, being an atheist, It’s simply more superstition a far as I’m concerned. Just about every protestant religion agrees.

The catholic claim of having the power of transubstantiation is based on a willful misreading of scripture:

1 Corinthians 11:24 "and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

The statement is clear and unambiguous. It’s a memoriam, nothing more. IE Do this and think of me.

We have saying in Oz “what a lot of hot cock”, which seems a reasonable response to such an unfounded claim.

I think that’s Tu quoque, but I’m not sure. It’s nonsense anyway. The Catholic canon claims Jesus gave Peter the right to make rules.

Divorced Catholics are supposed to be denied communion. A simple work around is to simply go to another church.

This was such a big deal to my ex wife that she applied for and got an annulment of our marriage. To accomplish this end the hypocritical cow lied her tits off.

The church doesn’t accept divorce. They have annulments instead. I finally understood the depth of their hypocrisy when Princes Caroline of Monaco was granted an annulment of her marriage to her playboy hubby . The grounds were that she was psychologically unprepared for marriage. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I hope you understand that there were no contemporary extraneous records of this jesus and what happened. Outside of the bible, there was absolutely nothing documenting this jesus. I have serious doubts there was a jesus as depicted in the bible, and I have less confidence on the tale of the last supper.

I have no rational reason to believe in this story.

Not quite right. There are a lot of ancient sources about Jesus. However, there are no contemporary writings about Jesus

. We actually know nothing about Jesus.

Many scholars today opine that at best there may have been a wondering rabbi called something like Yeshua/Yoshua bar Yusuf. He may have founded a small millennial Jewish sect. That he may have been crucified by the Romans for sedition.

It is also my opinion that there is little if any similarity between any historical Jesus and the Jesus of the new testament. Especially the written accounts of the hallucinations of Saul of Tarsus, called ‘The Epistles’ and included in the Canon

There is little doubt in my mind that had an historical Jesus said and done much of what is claimed of him, he would have been stoned for blasphemy, even by his own disciples. It’s for this reason that I think the Gospels were probably not written by anyone familiar with the Tanakh or Jewish customs

Over the last decade or so, I’ve held the above position, the historical perception. About a year or so ago I discovered Richard Carrier. I find his mythicist position compelling, and am beginning to lean that way.

Not sure what you mean. Jesus is said to have spoken Aramaic. (a Hebrew dialect) The Gospels were first written down in Greek.

Christianity was based directly on Judaism, a patriarchal religion. Jesus himself is recorded as saying that he had not come to change the law.

From the very beginning , this minor sect which became christianity was highly attractive to slaves and women. Not because it was a feminine religion, but because those two groups were the most marginalised in the ancient world. Christianity simply promised them an after life far better than the one they had .

Christianity has always been a patriarchal and misogynist religion. Have a look at what Paul says about women.

For goodness sake, have a go at supplying your sources. Otherwise ,all you are doing is making unfounded, risible claims.

I’m going into business for myself. I have found a way to supply anyone denied communion wafers with their basic needs while fulfilling my hedonistic pleasures in watching the Church fail once again. My epicaricacy knows no bounds. I have worked very hard on getting the flavoring just right, Pop one of these puppies in your mouth and you will swear it was the flesh of Christ himself.

@Cognostic Makes sense, many christians, from anglican to roman catholic to eastern orthodox celebrate the circumcision of jesus. It could be an annual “party flavor”.

The catholics celebrate his circumcision as " Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus" on January 1st. Get drunk New Year’s eve, next day suck on the holy candy flavored penis.

Somehow that meshes nicely. Good way to start the year.
