Here he is using a hateful ableist slur against a chatter who points out how he is being an apologist for a hateful bigoted racist individual like Charlie Kirk.
It basically boils down to “if you don’t agree with me, you’re reta*ded” because Armin is unable to articulate his point and instead resorts to ad hom attacks on someone who is more educated on the topic than he is.
He needs to be removed from this organization immediately. Or do you support the use of slurs here?
He can claim whatever he wants. Just as you are claiming what you want to claim. Or, were you made the boss of claims when we weren’t looking?
Evelyn Beatrice Hall, in her biography of Voltaire, paraphrased him with, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
If you want to debate the substance of what Armin is saying, then do that.
To come into this house and insist anyone must to tailor their opinions to suit you is, imo, beyond the pale.
One could argue that atheists already “look bad” just by being atheists, and so have nothing lose.
Personally I completely disagree with Navabi’s assessment that Kirk was not a bigot and that the charges that he was bigoted, were to any significant extent “fabricated” or “taken out of context”. I also personally disagree with Navabi characterizing people who do not accept his arguments should be dismissed as “retarded” and not worth to even talk to and “beyond help”. In my view that is arrogant (and, yes, ableist) twaddle. It makes me wonder why, by participating in this forum, I am even tangentially on the same platform with someone like that. It gives me something to ponder.
But, like it or not … if he has any success with his views it isn’t because the thought police haven’t de-platformed him. We need to consider how we as a community by turns conjure and give encouragement to this kind of disordered thinking, and what we perhaps might have in common with the Christo-fascists in doing so. Freethought is one thing … yelling “fire” in a crowded building is another.
And you’re still trying to project your opinions onto the other Atheists here. Armin has done nothing but fight for the rights for the atheist movement world wide.
With a statement like this, you don’t speak for all of us. You’re just wanting a lynch mob to take down a man you don’t like. Not everyone agrees 100 percent. The man is entitled to his opinions. Take it up with him instead.
I’m guessing he said something about your magical beliefs, and that is why you are pissed. You aren’t the first person to do this, you aren’t even the 100th.
