They are henceforth to be referred to as Magats…and yes that is a pun about maggots.

A small investment that was to form part of my pension, that I worked hard to accrue, but may now need to live on, after my divorce, has just lost 10% of it’s value thanks to the Trumpanzee.

I see the Chinese have hit back with an 84% tariff on all US goods, and the rest of us will have to endure the consequences of the Trumpanzee’s trade war.

Didn’t the shit gibbon say he was all about states’ rights when he celebrated the overturn of roe v wade?

Yet another mass protest against Trump’s tariffs…

We all know what he’s fucking doing, he’s doing to the global economy, exactly what he did to Stormy Daniels. And it’s just as repulsive to watch would be my guess.

If the fact that him being a rapist wasn’t a deal breaker, their children’s future was always shittier.

He just paused the tariffs for 90 days (except on China, which he raised to 125%), so the penguins will be okay for a while.

The Dow shot up over 2000 points in less than a minute after Cheeto delayed the tariffs, and right now it’s up 2700 points.

Unless this is the sort of pension that is 100% controlled by faceless managers somewhere, you should be able to move all those assets to a cash position, such as a money market account. You do not have to ride it all the way down. My best estimate is the US market is only half way to the bottom, if that, and the markets are reacting to little threads of hope (goes up on mere rumors of Trump relenting on tariffs, otherwise down).

IDK what the markets you’re in are doing but the US stock market is gyrating all over the place and I bailed on the dead cat bounce a couple of weeks ago. Also sold our US Treasury bonds (as are a lot of foreign investors, particularly Germany and Japan).

Mindless herds, mindlessly speculating. They haven’t figured out that the world order has been pulled out from under them, the US dollar is no longer the world’s reserve currency, and Shitler owns their life savings.

At this point the Orange One is just dicking with them.

Keeping an eye on it, but it’s a uk based fund, so am hoping it won’t be too bad. In the meantime, I hope work will pick over the summer. I may buy gold, as this tends to do well when global markets are in decline. Also I have always wanted to own some Dutch Krugerrands. :sunglasses:

The Dow closed up 3000 points. I expect this extreme market volatility to continue for the foreseeable future as the markets react to Tangerine Palpatine’s latest whim. I’ve been expecting this for some time and had previously taken actions to protect my investments. So far they haven’t been materially affected by this shit.

It will all settle out when the U.S. is an economic island/ money siphon unto itself and all nations dance to our tune.

Imperialism, 21st Century style.

Either that, or the rest of the civilised world leaves the USA to descend back into the primaeval slime, and become Black Death era Mongolia with stealth bombers. Which it will be unable to deploy, because it’s turned its back on the science required to keep them operational.

Of course, the parallels between the Apricot Arsehole and the Roman Heliogabalus are numerous. Hopefully one of those parallels will play out in the immediate future.

Well, that didn’t last long. But long enough for some quick insider trading, I guess.

Speaking of which… someone who currently has significant power to influence markets has just done the following.

I suppose it can be said this isn’t intentional market manipulation, but I can’t think of any good reasons which support that notion.

Trump offers ‘buy’ tip on social media hours before tariff pause that made stocks soar.

That sounds like illegal market manipulation to me, but, as usual, nothing will come of it because he has Congress and SCOTUS in his back pocket.

And if those individuals rationalize or over look such behavior, how far can Orange go is a good question, IMHO.

Loyalty tests? Secret police? Interminable and arbitrary imprisonment of dissidents and opponents?

Insider trading laws surely cover this one?

Senator Palpatine is not even hiding the fact he’s a Sith Lord anymore.
